Ojos del Mundo was built by family and friends, with love. A collective energy has gone into creating Ojos del Mundo. We invite others who want to appreciate this unique, beautiful, rustica rental. Benito is our gardener and good friend. He is a gem and will provide you with coconuts, herbs, yucca and sugarcane, with a priceless smile and a heart of gold.

We live there as often as possible-
Which is only a few months per year at this time. Otherwise we are living in Steamboat springs, Colorado. I have a 8 year old who loves time in Bocas! Zeylia was born in Panama and holds such a tie to the land and people of the area. We love it and consider it home, even though life has brought us back to the states for now. I am Certified Professional Coach focusing on assisting parents to be genuine, empowered and aware. I host retreats around the world.
Wiley Wakeman purchased this cabin in 2003
It has been given love and energy by hundreds of beautiful people who have helped it literally blossom from a plot of jungle. It is now a unique piece of the world with endless wonderful views, tons of food growing, the most seclusion you imagine and the place you can rest, relax and revive. Gift yourself the opportunity to experience this space. It is a special sanctuary.
Remote, secluded, beautiful, close to nature, powerful, alive, real, away from technology, amazing views, tons of outdoor activities to experience- a place to revive the mind, body, and soul.
Please read on the website found under "more information" to find a whole guest book of comments. Thank you. Wiley
We arrived in Bocas del Toro of an evening and woke up to such a beautiful sunrise and gorgeous gardens! A BIG thank you to Clay and Allene for the hospitality, knowledge and friendship. We enjoyed the time we spent with you! Benito was a pleasure and always willing to share his knowledge as well - even though we had a language barrier! The beautiful haven in the rain forest was all it said and more! Again, thanks!

We began our trip to the Bocas del Toro area with 4 nights at this beautiful spot. Certainly not luxury, but if you like to be out in nature and enjoy solitude, this place is great. The large lot is kept up nicely by Benito, the local Ngöbe who takes care of the place and is there daily. He kept us supplied with fruits from the various trees around the area. Really nice view, lots of wildlife around, you're basically out in the jungle and away from crazy Bocas town. About a one hour walk to Bocas del Drago, which has a couple of restaurants and a pretty nice beach. Water taxis depart from there to Playa Estrella, which is worth a visit but beware of partiers. You will be in the capable hands of Clay, who lives on the next property over and provides assistance to all visitors. He's able to provide transportation, knows all about the flora and fauna of the area, has some pretty cool dogs and might play you a tune or two if he's in a musical mood. We very much enjoyed our stay and would come back.
My husband, a few friends, and I stayed here for six days back last May and I could not recommend a better place. I grew up in Panama so when I wanted to bring some of my closest friends to the country I loved so much I wanted to make sure to show them the best it had to offer and a place a little off the beaten path, we could not have chosen a better place. Ojos Del Mundo is a little piece of paradise. Nesteled in the rainforest with its own private beach you couldn't chose a more relaxing and wonderful place. The grounds are covered in fruit trees, beautiful flowers, and amazing wildlife. It is a little more rustic and remote but completely worth it. The cabin and Eco tent were clean, comfortable, and so very relaxing. We spent everyday swimming in the ocean, relaxing on the porch, watching the gorgeous sunsets, exploring the property, and enjoying the wildlife. We walked to the main road and bused into town a couple of times to enjoy some shopping and local cuisine. Kayaking out to bird island is beautiful and highly recommended. Wiley was extremely helpful in getting plans put together and making sure our stay was comfortable. Clay took us on a wonderful snorkeling trip and went out of his way to make sure we had what we needed and Benito always greeted us with a smile and made us feel so welcome.
We are planning to return as soon as possible. Thank you for the amazing memories.
I love this property! It is clean and well maintained with a wonderful feeling of seclusion. I loved walking around the grounds...exploring the tropics...the sounds, the colors, the incredible view! I felt blessed to experience such a beautiful island from this location. It is a great way to get "off the beaten path" but still have all the comforts and amenities of home. With an outdoor shower, private beach and a view like that...I will go back!
Ojos Del Mundo is like no place south of the equator. When you arrive in Bocas, you hop in a car and travel to the most lush and beautiful part of the island, Ojos Del Mundo. Upon arrival, you are treated to panoramic views of the sea and surrounding hills. We have visited Ojos Del Mundo two times and each time we leave feeling like we have discovered a piece of magic. Our time in Ojos Del Mundo was spent reading on the hammocks, snorkeling, kayaking out to bird island, surfing, eating thai food and tropical fruit, and walking through the beautiful jungle trails surrounding the property. We can’t wait to be back. Thanks so much for making our stay unforgettable.
This property is stunningly beautiful. It is remote and ridiculously tranquil. It takes a bit of travel to arrive but well worth it. The rooms were cozy but very comfortable and clean. It feels like you are on your own private island. You need to do a bit of planning to get supplies, but a small amount of foresight can make for a very relaxing vacation. Town is about an hour drive on a bumpy road, but you will see tons of birds and wildlife along the way, making for some really cool trips into town. I was here with a few friends and we all found the remoteness to be exactly what we were looking for. The views out to Bird Island are worth the trip itself. You can kayak out to the island but supposedly you are not allowed to go on the island itself. There are 2 little tunnels in the island, one which you can kayak through with a little effort and timing the tides correctly. The beach is about 50 meters long and extremely private. Once we swam beyond the breakers the water was beautiful. The waves crash hard and fast on the beach but not so big that you couldn't launch the kayak. The jungle surrounding the property is lush and thick, which makes the feeling of privacy even more true. This place is not for everyone, it is slightly rustic and caters towards people who like to do things for themselves and don't need tons of nightlife. There are tons of fruit trees on the property, everything from banana, papaya, pineapple, cacao and tons of others. I found it to be very relaxing, sitting in a hammock, listening to the surf below (the main house is about 15 meters above sea level) and reading a book. Clay and Allene (property managers and tour guides) were very helpful and informative. Clay was willing to take us on just about any tour we could think of and Allene was a great source of information (she runs the local paper in Bocas Town). Both were very welcoming and fixed any problems we had very quickly. Again, not for the faint of heart, but those willing to travel a little extra and plan ahead for supplies from town, this place is a wonderful property. Good, helpful people! If you have any concerns, just ask them, they will be honest with you about any questions you might have!
The marker on the map is off. Our property is a 45 min drive north of the town of Bocas del Toro on the Isla Colon. The drive is through the beautiful jungle passing occasional local indigenous towns. The drive itself is like a jungle tour. The north side of the island is a gem in this spectacular archipelago. We are exposed to the open Caribbean with the stunning Bird Island in the view. Activities include relaxing, sea kayaking, bird watching, jungle hiking, surfing, swimming, eating fresh fruits off the property. It is a refreshing escape from town that can get hot and buggy. We seem to constantly have a breeze and are relieved to return to this part of the island after visiting town.
