About Adela Parlette
My husband and I have been married for 24 years. We have 2 sons, ages 21 and 17. We live in Houston, Texas. We enjoy getting away to our townhome at Rum Point as frequently as we can. Our kids enjoy telling their friends that in Grand Cayman their back yard is a bioluminescent bay and their front yard is a beach! We enjoy having friends and family visit so that we can show off our home away from home. We would love to share our island home with you while we are back in Houston, putting in time in the 'real world.'
Adela Parlette purchased this Townhome in 2012
Why Adela Parlette chose North Side
My husband and I had talked about buying a property in the Caribbean since our honeymoon. Everytime we would go on vacation to an island, that conversation would come back up. But, we never pulled the trigger. Back in July of 2007, my in-laws watched the kids for a week while my husband and I went on our first vacation by ourselves since the kids were born. We went to Grand Cayman and stayed on 7 Mile Beach. The beaches were stunning and the island was absolutely paradise. Beatiful views...warm water...laid-back island atmosphere. Around the middle of the week, we decided to rent a car and drive over to Rum Point, which we had read about online. Now, I grew up in the Caribbean and we have traveled pretty extensively to various island destinations. I have seen my share of stunningly beautiful beaches. But, let me tell you...when we got out of the car and walked around the corner of the gift shop and saw the beach at Rum Point, we were absolutely awestruck by the beauty. We had a drink at the Wreck Bar and decided to walk out to the water. The water was perfectly calm and clear as a looking glass. We were able to walk out a couple hundred feet from the shore and the water was only waist high! We began to talk about how this would be such a perfect place to come with the kids. Shallow, calm water. Nice quiet, family atmosphere. To say the least, we fell in love with Rum Point and purchased a one bedroom condominium back in 2007. Five years later, with a teenager in the family we have outgrown the one bedroom, but not the beauty of Rum Point. In summer of 2012 we found the perfect 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath townhome we call 'Cloud Nine.'
What makes this Townhome unique
Cloud Nine offers the best of both worlds...the picturesque Rum Point Beach out our front door and a rare bioluminescent bay out our back door that our guests can explore on our kayaks and stand up board. All the while you will find yourself in a warm, luxurious setting from which to enjoy a tropical paradise. Cloud Nine has a full unobstructed view of the Rum Point Beach Club. Our highly coveted location is superior to the locations of the other Island House units that face an overflow parking lot and the road. The Rum Point beach and waters are part of a government protected marine park with lots of colorful coral and abundant sea life. Right out our front door is the Rum Point Club and Red Sail Sports dive shop and activity center. While far from a wild and crazy place, the Red Sail facilities offer plenty of activities. They have a great bar and grill (excellent drinks and friendly service), a fabulous formal restaurant and a beach rental and excursion center. Right there you can rent jet skis, sail boats, banana boat, snorkling gear and more, plus book your Sting Ray City and scuba diving excursions. Most of the excursions leave right from the dock on the property. It is also a great place for the kids to find some playmates to explore the beach with! There are lots of other great restaurants nearby if you want to branch out a little. You are also about a 15 minute drive from the stunningly beautiful the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park and the Mastic Trail nature hike.

Seriously... this place had everything, kayaks, paddle boards, bikes, beach towels, dishes, the list goes on! Most important the place is well kept, beds are very comfortable and you will feel right at home. The property is beautifully groomed and in the perfect location RUM POINT! We would return in a heartbeat.
Thank you so much for your kind review. Yes, we love to stock our beautiful Cloud Nine with all the comforts of home, beach toys and amenities that we think our guests will enjoy. We hope that you made some wonderful memories and will soon come back to enjoy Rum Point and explore the rest of the island.
We had a wonderful stay at Cloud 9. The location cannot be beaten. Rum point beach on one side, and the bioluminescence bay right outside our back door. Also Kaibo and starfish point just down the road. Even though we had slightly cooler, windy weather, we still managed to swim in the sea and the pool, walked along beautiful quiet beaches, and the best was kayaking at night and experiencing the bioluminescence. The kids said they would never forget it.
The house is lovely too and had absolutely everything we needed, including plenty of games for the kids.
Adela was great to deal with and super helpful.
Thank you for your beautiful review. It was wonderful speaking with you and making this Magical stay happen! I hope your children enjoyed their stay on the more quiet side of the island. We enjoy hosting families because Rum Point can be such an enchanting place for children. I hope they got to see the two pretty parrots who love the almonds from the tree in front of our house. I hope they marveled at the bright bioluminiscent bay and skyline. I hope they had a chance to snorkeled under the pier where the small fish take shelter. I hope you and your husband had romantic walks on the beach and pier. As you can tell, I miss being there! Let me know when you are ready to come back! Best regards, Adela
House was perfect. Had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again!!
Thank you for your wonderful review. I love your title “Amazing!!!” It captures your excitement. I loved hosting you as my guests. I hope you come back soon to enjoy another Amazing!!! stay.
Beach access was wonderful
The location of The house was perfect for our group that ranged in age from 2 to 60. You could go to the beach, take a walk, kayak, paddle board, snorkel, etc. etc. without having to pack up the car and travel anywhere. We will definitely be back.
Thank you for your wonderful review. I am so happy to hear that everyone had such a wonderful time. I enjoyed working with you and you were so well organized. I hope we can host you again in the near future. Have a great 2020!
Owner was extremely friendly and provided helpful information. Enjoyed having the kayaks and bikes to use. We were disappointed by the lack of beach frontage and seaweed/grass in the water. The food at local restaurants was also overpriced and not fantastic. The bedrooms also lacked privacy from sound and light due to slatted doors.
Thank you for your review. I am glad you enjoyed the kayaks and bikes. The Rum Point area is a protected marine park and lobster/conch sanctuary which includes the beach and reef. In order for the reef to thrive and have a healthy marine life, the sea grass and seasonal seaweed have to be part of the reef ecosystem. Therefore, the grass and seaweed are not allowed to be removed unless nature does it. Fortunately, the majority of our guests are interested in the marine life of the reef and bioluminescent bay and enjoy fishing excursions in the nearby reef. These activities are only possible because the Cayman government enforces strict environmental protection laws to protect the reef, stingrays, fish, lobsters, conchs and starfish. Rum Point Beach and the bioluminescent bay are two of the few remaining protected natural gems of the Caribbean. Most regional reefs and bioluminescent bays are currently dying because they are not protected. Rum Point Beach is only forty steps from our front door and it offers daily trips to Sting Ray City, the reef, and sunset cruises for a fraction of the cost of other commercial establishments. Grand Cayman in general is expensive for dining out. The currency exchange is .80 Cayman dollars to 1 US dollar roughly every $4 Cayman dollars amounts to $5 US dollars. One easy solution is to buy Cayman style, American, British and Jamaican prepared dishes from the deli of the major supermarkets. The staff is very friendly and will even give a sample to taste and will also provide the list of ingredients that were used if requested. Once one has bought the preferred dishes from the supermarket, one can use our well stocked kitchen to warm up in the oven or microwave. Most of our guests find that the best time of the day is during the sunny hours and rise early to watch the sunrise which is as spectacular as the sunset. Since Rum Point is at the northernmost tip of the island, one can see the most spectacular sunrises over the water. I highly recommend a yoga session during sunrise when the air is crisp and the beach is desolate. The sunsets are magical to watch every day from one of the free of charge lounge chairs at the Rum Point Beach Club. The Cayman Kai neighborhood is home to some of the most distinguished residents on the island and it is a well established community. It is also considered one of the safest districts on the island. We love to share this side of the island with our guests.
Our townhome is ideally situated, with an unobstructed view of Rum Point Beach Club out the front door and the swimming pool and bioluminescent bay out the back door. Right out your door at the Rum Point Beach Club, you have access to the Red Sail Sports activity center, dive shop and water sports, the Treasure Chest gift shop, Wreck Bar and Grill and Rum Point Restaurant! You can book your Stingray City trips on Captain Jimmy's glass bottom boat!!! The most extensive botanic garden in the Caribbean (Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park) is about a 20 minute drive. Guided tours of the fabulous Mastic Trail (about 10 minutes drive) provide a historical perspective as well as nature and bird sighting. The best souvenir store is across the street at Treasure Chest. It has the best bathing suit and beach wear collection. It also contains Christmas ornaments, compact discs, mugs, t-shirts, snorkeling gear, cute clothes for kids, beach bags, flip flops, sandals, caps and jewelry.
