Overview

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-8)

2BR, 1BA cottage situated in the small town of Coram about five miles from the west entrance of Glacier National Park. Great base camp to relax and recuperate after a great day in Glacier Park . Expect a clean, comfortable home with nice beds and linens. There is a top of the line big screen TV with cable and high speed internet. This cottage is convenient to Glacier View Golf Course that borders Glacier Park with panoramic mountain views. There also are many great courses near by in the Flathead Valley, shopping in the towns of Columbia Falls, Whitefish and Kalispell, fishing on the Middle Fork or North Fork of the Flathead River and white water rafting. Horse back riding, guided hiking and fishing trips available. Fun for kids with a maze and bumper boat park very close. There is a great water slide waterpark about eight miles away.

The Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad runs by the towns of Coram and West Glacier, so railroad buffs will be fascinated but others may not like the railroad sounds. Coram Cottage is in the same canyon as all West Glacier area housing so everyone is aware of the railroad to some extent.

This cottage is also a great base camp for hiking and fishing the Flathead National Forest.

This is a very nice and economical home in a safe area for a family vacation, girls getaway, wilderness hiking and outdoor adventures.

About John Glader

I am a 63 year old retired building contractor that has lived in the area for over 40 years. I love to fish, hunt, golf, and play hockey, so that keeps me very busy and out of trouble. However, I am of nordic descent so of course not being in trouble is a challenge. Born in Minnesota I moved here at 20 because it has everything I grew up with and much more!

John Glader purchased this cottage in 1985

Why John Glader chose Glacier Park

I felt people needed a clean, comfortable , kid friendly, pet friendly and affordable place to enjoy Glacier Park and surrounding area without that plastic motel atmosphere.

What makes this cottage unique

Sightseeing, hiking, fishing, whitewater rafting, horseback riding and souvenir shopping all in close proximity. Walking distance to excellent restaurants, and other ascential services. Ten minute drive to the west entrance of Glacier National Park.

Great location for GNP!

  • 5 of 5

The location was perfect for all of our plans on the west side of GNP. The house is not fancy, but was clean and more than met our needs. We spent long days in the park hiking and exploring, so typically came home late to make and eat a quick dinner (never even turned on the tv) and head to bed. Beds were comfy, there were plenty of clean towels, the washer and dryer worked well, as did the wifi, and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes/pots/pans/etc for the meals we made (again, focus was on hiking not gourmet meal prep). The trains didn't bother us (we had ear plugs with but didn't use them), although the tracks are fairly close, so if you're a light sleeper it might bother you. John was great about responding to questions! Overall it was a good stay, and we'd recommend it!

Perfect location at a great price!

  • 5 of 5

We stumbled upon this rental while searching for a "base camp" during our first-ever trip to Glacier. The location of this house was just what we needed! So close to the park & other amenities. Well-kept and plenty of room for the 6 of us who stayed there. We loved the large dining room table and comfortable living room for spending time together. The large yard & cozy deck with a grill were a perfect place to relax after our long days in the park. As was mentioned in other reviews, there is no AC in the house but we left the windows open during the cool evening hours & the large trees shaded the house during the day. We ran the available box fans at night for circulation (and it provided "white noise" so we didn't hear the trains). We'd definitely stay again.

Ideal location for Glacier

  • 5 of 5

Overall it was a great house to be in and very accommodating for the amenities and the location. The outside does look a bit tired but the inside was great for all 6 of us, 4 adults and two kids. A few things to note: the train is not just a 'noise' but rather close to a crossing and so there is plenty of whistling throughout the night but you get used to it rather quickly. The rooster is most annoying but if you are an early-riser like he is then you have nothing to worry about.

John was great to work with and answered all of our questions in a very timely manner and was always happy to help.

Perfect location and comfortable house with all the amenities!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was perfect!

First of all the location was great, it's a 5-10 min drive to Glacier National Park, a 5 min drive to Hungry Horse where there's a pretty large grocery store, and had a lot of restaurants nearby as well! It was wonderful to be able to come home from a long day at the park in such a short amount of time.

The host was very easy to communicate with, and quite friendly. All the details for the house were online, and there were also helpful sticky notes around the house.

As for the cottage itself, it was fantastic! Four of us were staying there and it was very comfortable. The place has a great kitchen with all the amenities, and even an outdoor grill. There's a lovely dining area both in the house and on the patio, so you can choose to eat outside or in! The living room is quite large, enough room to lounge around and play games. There was also a nice TV, however we never used it, cause like earlier reviewers were saying, you're on vacation next to Glacier! There were more than enough fresh towels in the linen closet for all of use. The beds were very comfortable. And the cottage was always nice a cool even though it got quite hot outside. There was also a washer a dryer, we didn't use it but I can see it being super handy if you're staying there longer. Also, wireless internet! A godsend in these parts!

The neighborhood is nice and quiet with hardly any traffic. There is a train at night and roosters in the morning, but you do get used to that and it didn't really take away from the experience.

Overall, I'd highly recommend this place, it was a great find and as comfortable as staying in our own home.

Tired little cottage

  • 3 of 5

Our first impressions were disappointing. The yard had not been mowed, the house is beginning to need upkeep, and the neighborhood was unimpressive. The picture is somewhat deceiving. However, the house is convenient to the West Glacier entrance of Glacier National Park. The inside of the house was clean and the WiFi was very fast. There was a relatively new washing machine and dryer and a nice television. This place is okay for a place to sleep if you are there to enjoy the park.

Nice place

  • 5 of 5

The house was very clean and stocked with pretty much everything renters would need. The train does come by often as John noted in his description but we were all able to pretty much ignore it after a short while. The property behind the house has roosters so they may wake you up in the morning. Also, watch the bathroom faucet, if you turn it on fast you will get wet. John was quick to respond to our questions and pleasant to talk to. Overall, this place is close to Glacier, a nice place to stay, and well worth the money. I would recommend it to others.
