There are daily sightings of exotic Costa Rican animals such as Blue Morpho Butterflies, Sloths, Monkeys, Jewel-toned Hummingbirds, and now Scarlet Macaws!! The 5-Star Gaia Boutique Hotel (only 200 meters away as the crow flies) began a program to reintroduce Native Scarlet Macaws to the Manuel Antonio area about 1 year ago. And the lucky guests of the Family Jungle House are right in the flight path of these gorgeous, amazing birds!!! The are sightings virtually everyday!!

This gorgeous home has multiple Master Suites for multiple families traveling together! We now also provide 250g of Coffee for all guests staying Dec - Aug so that you can arrive and immediately enjoy a cup of delicious, hot Costa Rican coffee! WE ALSO HAVE AN OUTDOOR GRILL FOR BBQ BY THE POOL!!

The Family Jungle House now has a local chef with fantastic food and great deals!! $50 for breakfast for 10 people (each additional person pays $7 per person) and $120 for dinner for up to 10 people (each additional person pays $12 per person)!! Exclusive, only for the Family Jungle House and these prices include food cost! Roxana does not cook anywhere else and you will NOT find this deal anywhere else in Manuel Antonio. There are some restrictions: service is only Mon-Fri, only certain meals are prepared, the food is all local Costa Rican cuisine, and the meals are only served at certain times. There are no subsitutions and only one main course may be selected! Only here at the Family Jungle House!! I dare you to find another deal this good in Manuel Antonio!

There are covered terraces surrounding most of the upper level and the bedrooms at pool level. The house can be opened up completely to these terraces allowing for a tropical out of doors living experience. Monkeys pass by in the trees outside our bedrooms most days and an occasional sloth has crawled across our property. Come and hang-out by the pool - we have huge decks, both for sunbathing and plenty of space in the shade - and the pool is huge and was planned for children of all ages with three separate depths: 30 centimeters for toddlers and small children, 120 centimeters for moms and dads to walk smaller non-swimming children around and then a full 2 meters where the slide empties into the pool! There is also an outdoor shower right next to the pool to wash off children before bed without having to convince them to take a shower inside the house!!!

The hillside pool is situated beneath towering jungle trees where White-faced or Titi Monkeys are often swinging through the branches. There is fantastic bird, butterfly, and iguana watching right from our decks. There is 24 hour security in this gated, secure community. The house is very private and quiet, unlike so many rental houses and hotels crammed along the busy main road and with giant walls as your next door neighbor. You can walk to the main road in three-to-five minutes where there are buses and taxis to take you to Quepos or the gorgeous beaches of Manuel Antonio. Within a 10 minute walk are the restaurants: La Gondola, El Arado, and La Luna at Hotel Gaia! By car you are only five minutes from the National Park and some of the worlds most beautiful beaches or equal distant from the entertaining town of Quepos. There are generous parking and storage areas.

For your pleasure and comfort, the Family Jungle House offers the following amenities: WIFI, Phone, air conditioning in all the bedrooms PLUS in the living room (most houses, even the most luxurious here in Manuel Antonio do NOT offer AC in the living room - ask for yourself and you will see!!) , and there are three flat screen TVs and a DVD player. We have a well outfitted full kitchen. The washer and dryer and currently next to the kitchen but will be moved down stairs in October. We ask that ONLY the maid use the machines and she will wash, dry and fold your clothes for you. Bed linens and towels are provided.

Outdoors we have a teak wood jungle gym for kids, BBQ grill, and fantastic pool complete with its own water slide. After an exciting day in the tropics, the pool and terrace make for a relaxing evening.

We offer housekeeping everyday EXCEPT Wednesdays and Sundays! Laundry is done by the maid the days she cleans the house and we can arrange for a private chef (outside of Roxana if you choose) and babysitting for an additional fee.

About Heather Burt

I moved to Manuel Antonio in Aug of 2004 because I simply fell in love with the delightful Costa Rican people and the convergence of powerful elements all meeting in one place - the mighty Pacific Ocean, the strong sun, the wildness of the jungle, the tropical animals and foods, the strong winds and rains . . . We lived there with our two girls until April of 2012 when we moved back to Florida - and we now long for the days when we get to go and visit Manuel Antonio ourselves. We hope you love Costa Rica as much as we do!

Heather Burt purchased this house in 2006

Why Heather Burt chose Quepos

We hope you find the peace and joy and harmony we tried to instill in this house and the surrounding gardens. We love entertaining guests - always have. We wanted a comfortable house that would be practical and fun for families. I know from experience that can be difficult to achieve. The beach, the ocean, the waves, the mountains, the sunsets, the clean air, the nice people - why would you not want to visit here?

What makes this house unique

This house is wonderful for families and for Multiple Families traveling together that will NOT break the bank! Kids have outside and the pool, and the biggest kids have plenty of space for themselves too! Right in the middle of Manuel Antonio to where access to the beaches is a five-minute drive and Quepos is a 4-minute drive, but removed from all the noise and crazy drivers. True peace in paradise!

Perfect Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The only negative thing I can say about the trip was the travel day (and I'm only complaining because I had a cranky 19 Month old with me). Other than that, the family jungle house was everything we imagined and more. The house was larger than I had expected, with each couple having their own room (and bathroom). The service was spectacular. The owner, Heather, was very helpful and accessible. She responds to emails within minutes. I would recommend using Josue, the concierge, for everything and anything. He was extremely accommodating, and always answered his phone. He set us up with a few excursions including zip-lining, a catamaran trip, and also took us on a tour of the national park. He really wanted to make sure we enjoyed our trip, and reached out to us almost daily to make sure we were ok. Roxana's cooking was second to none. We were very surprised at how good the Costa Rican cuisine was when we went out to eat, but Roxana's meals trumped everything we had at restaurants. She made enough food to feed a small army, and it was a lot less expensive than going out for meals. She handled everything else with us barely knowing she was there.

I thought the best part of the house was the pool. After going to the beach all day, it was a really nice treat to come back and use the pool to cool off. It was clean, the slide was amazing, and the 3 different levels allowed everyone to enjoy it (including the baby) thoroughly. The pool was cleaned and maintained 3 times while we were there. The house has a security system which was a nice feature as well.

This house was recommended to me by a friend, who told me it was paradise...I would agree and recommend this to anyone who wants a relaxing and fun vacation.

Exactly as described

  • 5 of 5

My family and I are still at the house yet I felt compelled to write a review right away.

The house is awesome, comfortable, spacious with all the creature comfort one can desire. Staff is available yet invisible, location perfect! kids loved the pool and slide and the fast wifi (unfortunately, lol.)

Saw white faced monkeys on the trees right next to house, watched a sloth across the house for hours, admired the myriad of butterflies that fly around the pool, watched the macaws screech as they flew by displaying their beautiful plumage.

House is halfway between Quepos and Manuel Antonio Park so every attraction and shopping is close by (Check out the Pescaderias downtown, excellent fresh fish at reasonable prices) . Tons of great restaurants with stunning views for sunsets but we cooked in most nights. Kitchen was functional with plenty plates, cups and utensils to feed an army.

Please read the description carefully, I know it's hard to visualize the words but it is exactly as described!

Would highly recommend.

We would rent this house again!

  • 5 of 5

This home is well maintained and definitely an excellent fit for multiple families. I think our pre-teens and teens spent more time swimming (between the pool trips to the beach) than they did sleeping. We stayed here after a week of other Costa Rican adventures and lodges and we were not disappointed. The owners and staff have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and fun! Take advantage of Josue's trip planning and guide services!

Perfect Rental Home

  • 5 of 5

Recently stayed just 3 days, 4 total families. The place is in a fantastic spot less than a 10 min drive from the Manuel Antonio Park entrance.

The house is amazing and we did not feel cramped at all with our big group. Roxana is as great as everyone says. I would encourage you to have her cook for you some. Unfortunately, we were a little worn out at the end of our CR hopping and did not use Josue for any tours. He was super nice though. Everybody in our group wants to go back in the future for longer. Next time Josue!! But thanks for everything. I have been to CR many times and done a number of tours. I can tell Josue is top notch. I also highly recommend the Jungle Safari Crocodile Tour on your way in or out of Quepos, about an hour and a half away.

I will point out that someone mentioned water and wifi problems only a couple of months back. These are apparently fixed as we had zero issues. The wifi was fast even with 12 or 13 of us connecting. My only disappointment was the animals. We saw saw everything under the sun in Manuel Antonio, but did not see any at the house... probably due to our kids splashing around in the pool 24/7. Not completely true, Bolita stood faithfully by me when I was on the grill. Oh, and the agitated Scarlet Macaw couple up above the street who seemed to be beyond intervention or counseling. That was worth watching!

The kids loved the slide and adults loved the comfort. Heather has gone to great lengths to make sure guests have a great stay.

Owner's Response: Oh wow! I have tears in my eyes. What a wonderful and beautiful review. I am so blessed with such wonderful guests. How wonderful! Scarlet Macaw sightings are nearly daily now! Sorry the monkeys did not make their way to the house while you all were there - they typically do, and it is only annoying when the Congo (aka Howler) monkeys come around!! Again, thank you for you kind words. I feel joy spreading this little piece of heaven with those lucky enough to pass through!!

Comforts of home in paradise for our 3 generation family

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a safe, spacious comfortable home with the beauty and pura vida spirit of Costa Rica for our recent family stay in Quepos/ Manuel Antonio, and were fortunate enough to find it in the Family Jungle Home. Located in a private, gated community, the tropical landscaping, squirrel monkeys, macaws, and quiet made it seem like we were in the middle of a jungle. However, we were only five minutes from shops, restaurants and beaches.

Our two youngest family members are a toddler and an infant, so safety was our first priority. Gates at both stairwells protected them from from falls and the pool. Four bedrooms each with a bathroom provided privacy and comfort for all. And despite the heat and humidity, the air conditioning was very efficient! Best of all, the pool and slide were great fun for all of us!

Josue and Roxanna provided the perfect amount of service, without intruding on our privacy. Roxanna kept the house neat, laundered and folded our clothes, and cooked a fabulous breakfast for us. Josue welcomed us to the house, took us on a tour of the national park and booked our whitewater rafting trip with Amigos Del Rio. We highly recommend this tour both for the beautiful setting as well as the fun and excitement. Thank you to Heather, Josue and Roxanna for this wonderful three generation family vacation!

RENT THIS HOUSE

  • 5 of 5

This house is amazing. We spent much time sitting on the balcony or in the pool watching a couple tribes of monkeys as well as sloths crawl through the trees right next to the house. We saw massive iguanas and toucans. The house itself is beautiful and well maintained. Josue was very helpful and called daily to see if we needed assistance booking anything around the area. The maid did an outstanding job of keeping the house clean and the pool guy also kept the pool maintained. The view from the balcony is great and you are in a great location directly between Manuel Antonio and Quepos. There are many rental properties in this area, but I can't imagine how any could be as great as this place was. Stop looking and just book this place. Thanks for everything Heather. We will likely come stay at your house again in the future.

Notes:
This house is located about 1.5 miles on the road to Manuel Antonio National Park. This is a secure, gated community with lovely hiking trails, gorgeous views, silence, peace and a ton for kids to do. This house is perfect for 2 or 3 families traveling together who want to keep their kids occupied. There is a huge pool and a jungle gym to keep all age ranges happy. We have a great patio for grilling with an outdoor sink next to the pool. The monkeys come by with frequency since this house is on a monkey trail. There are 5 restaurants and a spa within walking distance. Our home has kid-safe railings on the balcony that are sometimes difficult to find in this area.
