Although the cottage itself is nestled into sublimely quiet surroundings (with easy access to beaches and hiking trails), it is also just minutes from more active pursuits. The newly completed Concordia Eco Complex, with its splendid seaside setting (bar, restaurant, grocery store, snorkel rental, day -trips, and yoga/massage facility) is just 0.8 miles up the road and the town of Coral Bay, with its many attractions (water sports, horseback riding, shopping, restaurants, nightlife and more) is less than a 10 minute drive away.
The nearest beach is 0.3 miles away. While a rental car is recommended (for optimal touring of the rest of the island), the Salt Pond Bay bus stop (servicing both Coral Bay and Cruz Bay is just a three minute walk away, making your stay possible without one.
In 1988, my wife and I bought a timeshare property at Bluebeards Castle in St. Thomas and fell in love with St. John during our many trips to the island. It always our dream as we neared retirement to buy a property on St. John. It is now our pleasure to share it with you.

Dear Liz and Russ,
Thank you so much for your hospitality. We adored the cottage! It is so cute and cozy. You have done a wonderful job creating the perfect paradise get away. We are so glad we found it and wish we could stay much longer. Next time!

P.S. You have a great library! I read three books while I was here and I am going home with a long list of titles. - Emily.
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage which was a good fit for a family of four. Four nights seem to be the ideal number of nights at this cottage with room to spread out and have a little space. Once we figured out the lay of the land we could plan our day out and not usually make it back to the cottage much before dark. Restaurants on this side of the island are expensive for the quality and quantity of the food but one needs to go with the island flow. Great little grocery store a few miles out with somewhat fair prices for the island. Beautiful views and worth a island visit and a stay at this cottage.
My husband and I stayed at Lameshur Cottage for four nights. We had spent three days in St Thomas and had a good time, but nothing prepared us for the wonderful contrast when we arrived at the cottage. St Thomas was busy and crowded, but at the cottage on St John we felt as though we had the island to ourselves. The property is beautiful with blooming bougainvillea and hummingbirds. The cottage is adorable and immaculate with bright Caribbean colors and beautiful decorations. Liz was a wonderful host, giving us pointers on where to go and what to do, but was very unobtrusive. The first day that we arrived, we were so happy and comfortable with the place that we stayed there all evening and enjoyed wine and the hot tub and the stars all around. The next day, Liz told us we could use the kayak, so my husband and I spent hours kayaking in Kiddel Bay. It was a one seat kayak, so we had to take turns. What a savings! Renting a kayak would have cost us a lot! Our four nights was up far too soon. Lovely place.
Spent 5 days here last week with my family.
Some important notes for future travelers:
No door to bedroom: Not even a sheet to pull across the door frame. The house is small, and with no door to the master bedroom you can pretty much scratch off any chance for privacy or "alone" time.
No Washer/Dryer: As of the date of this review there is a photo titled "bathroom" on this listing. It shows a washer, dryer, and an open box of arm and hammer detergent. The washer/dryer are gone from the unit. When I asked the owner, Liz, about it she told me people were using too much water so she removed them some time ago. I told her we were traveling for days before we arrived and just needed to do one load of necessities and she told me no, saying her washer is broken. I understand it does not list "laundry" or "washer and dryer" by name in the amenities but the PHOTO OF THE WASHER AND DRYER IN THE BATHROOM SORT OF IMPLY THERE IS ONE.
Bugs (Mosquitos) Inside: You can see in the photos the large number of screened windows, none of them are screened snug with the window frame. You can see gaps between where the screens end and the window frames begin almost everywhere in the house. We got eaten alive. Just sitting in the living area at dusk and after was pretty awful if you weren't covered in bug spray. For sleeping there is a mosquito net for the two beds, but if you have anyone sleeping in the living room on the fold out sofa they are on their own. We also got one cockroach (I think), a few flying termites, and the expected assortment of beetles, gnats, etc. Oh and a mouse. Hard to say if any of those came from inside or outside with all the gaps.
Internet: Somewhat unreliable due to it being the island - That's fine. My problem here is that most of the house is not in wifi range. 2 galaxy s7s, an s6, and an iphone all had no signal strength unless we went outside and down the stairs. This should not be advertised as having wifi until an access point is upgraded or put in the house (would be very easy).
Kitchen: Its fine I guess....lot of dirty stuff, missing basics like sugar I would expect. Pans should be replaced but were usable.
Location: Good spot, not on the beach but a short drive to Salt Pond (good beach and snorkeling if you are OK with swimming pretty far out to see anything really neat).
Its a fine place for what it is, just hope people that are expecting more read this now and don't get disappointed later.
Spent a wonderful week at Lameshur Cottage. Cottage was perfect for our group of 4. We started each day with coffee on the screened in deck and ended the days in the hot tub with lots of sand, water, and fun in between. Nice accommodations with ceiling fans making sleeping very comfortable at night while providing a good breeze throughout the day. Kitchen had everything we needed. Truly paradise with the accommodations, setting, privacy, and scenery! Host Liz and Russ were fantastic. They are very knowledgeable of the island, very friendly, and were very helpful throughout the week. This was our 4th trip to St. John and 1st stay in Coral Bay. When we make a 5th trip we will be booking Lameshur Cottage!
We loved Lameshur Cottage and it was just as described and worked perfect for our needs. The feeling is very "island style" with simple furnishings but very tastefully decorated and super comfortable. It has everything you need for a self-sufficient vacation. We cooked breakfast in, picnic for the beach, and out to dinner each night! Liz and Russ are both very friendly, helpful and available but not intrusive in the least. If you are into a laid back, very remote destination in a beautiful setting with drop dead gorgeous beaches and snorkeling minutes away then this place is absolutely wonderful. If you are looking for "glitz and glamour" or a "party atmosphere", go elsewhere! Peace and tranquility rule in Coral Bay! We look forward to another visit soon.
Located in the hills between Salt Pond and Lameshur Bay these cottages are ideal for rest and relaxation.
When we got there the sun was going down and Russ met us at the top of the driveway with a flashlight. He helped us unpack and proceeded to give us the full tour of the facility making us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived.
The cottage had everything we could want and more. The kitchen was fully equipped including all the pans and utensils that we could want. Russ even pointed out the baking pans in case we wanted to make a cake while we were there although that was not on our agenda
The walls of the cottage are lined with great books and classic DVD's and CD's. Every room had a ceiling fan that, along with the great breezes provided more than enough cooling power throughout our 11 night stay. The beds and furniture were extremely comfortable. A selection of beach chairs was provided along with beach towels and cooler and beach bag making it so easy for us to pack for our trip. Although mosquito nets were offered we did not even feel the need to apply bug spray during our entire stay.
The peace and tranquility of this place cannot be exaggerated. Sitting on a hill surrounded by beuatiful flowering bushes there is little traffic yet it is located between some of the best snorkeling beaches on the island. At night the deck provides for some remarkable star gazing.
We can't wait to go back.
In a quiet mountain valley within NATIONAL PARK. Seven min. walk to sandy beach to snorkel .
