What makes this apartment unique

The back apartment is an fairly new addition to a large main house, which was built in the 1950's. It preserves the character of that era yet adds a wonderful and functional new and separate living space. The backyard is just incredible. It is amazing to have so much outside space, so close to downtown Austin. The yard is maintained and landscaped very well so that it may be enjoyed to its fullest.

Comfortable rental, great courtyard!

  • 4 of 5

Overall this place was great! Excellent little place for 1-2 people. The bed and linens were inviting and comfortable and the outdoor space, while not private, was great! It was nice to have the option of a quiet courtyard to enjoy. The only complaints were the noise upstairs and the smell of food from the other units. The shower could also use some updating. The place was kept at a nice cool temperature and the windows and fan functioned so we could attempt to air the room out. The location was in a very nice neighborhood about 1 mile from South Congress and just a couple blocks from a free city pool. We ended up walking and using a taxi to get to South Congress and Downtown. Uber wasn't available in Austin during our stay but a taxi was only $10-$15 depending on where we went.

First VRBO experience

  • 3 of 5

The property is in a deeply residential neighborhood but is still walkable to SoCo. The ceilings are high making the room seem bigger which was a surprise but the room looked exactly as it was pictured is comfortable enough for two people. The kitchenette has a lot of storage space we didn't use, nor the microwave but, it's nice to have the option. The kitchen also has some what seemed like left-behinds from previous travelers like the airport regulation plastic bags. They owners also provided shampoo, conditioner, and other toiletries in case you are in need which is a nice convienence. The bathroom however, had broken tiles on the bench seat. I forgot to mention this when I spoke to the owners (jet lag) and it's not like they they could retile while we were there. The place was clean overall but could use dusting on the ceiling and fan as there was some cobwebs and a spider. I would recommend they get felt pads to place under the chair legs for the property above. You can hear every time they scrap the floor when moving the chairs around and it gets old. Overall, it was good.

Perfect place and location for 1 or 2 people in Austin

  • 5 of 5

This place is great for 1 or 2 people while staying in Austin. It is 2-3 blocks from some of the hot spots on South Congress and is in a very nice and quiet neighborhood. The amenities are plenty. Everything we needed was provided. The only thing I would have liked was to have our own thermostat for the AC, but they can handle that remotely so it was really a non-issue. Funny thing, when we pulled in to the allotted parking spot, I immediately had a deja vu moment. Come to find out, we have stayed in the main house of this property before. I rented the awesome main house a couple of years ago as we were down with 12 people for my wife's birthday. Overall, this is a great place and we will definitely keep it on our short list of places to stay while in Austin.

Cute neighborhood getaway

  • 4 of 5

Lovely studio unit, in a quiet residential neighborhood. Yes, like others have said, if there are tenants in the 2nd floor unit there is some noise but otherwise you hear little to no street traffic. The yard is beautiful and it was a pleasure to step out & hear the birds in the morning. The bed was very comfortable, and the place was very clean. The host was a pleasure to work with & the transition to the concierge service seamless. It's an easy & pleasant stroll to South Congress where restaurants & fun await but it is hilly so be ready for that. There's a grocery story nearby and easy access to downtown and the highway. It was hard to say goodbye but I can't wait to come back!

lots to love about it

  • 5 of 5

Love the floors, the mountain laurel in front of the house, the comfy bed with lots of pillows, the windows, the

yard, the peace, the neighborhood. I went to Stacy Pool, [it's free], yesterday morning, and had it all to myself

for over an hour. I love the sound of the birds in the morning.

There were a few issues. If, as others have mentioned, the place above you is occupied, you are going to hear

folks walking on your ceiling. The ceiling fan in the apartment is very nice, but it was so covered with dust, I

had to clean the blades before I used it. The blue-green rug is pretty dirty, too, and had a number of tiny, dead

leaves on it. Some of the supplies were pretty meager. The vent on the face of the refrigerator is dusty, too.

In spite of these few issues, I would stay here again in a minute because it's a great little place at a very nice

price, and I'm grateful to the owner for allowing me to stay there.
