About Suzanna Plumb
Retired educator and librarian, my passions are textile crafts, jewelry making, antique refinishing, some gardening and home décor. Fluent French speaker and working to attain fluency in Italian, I'm a Europhile with my vine-covered main deck! I prize the cool summers (mostly) in Seattle and access to the ocean and the waters of Puget Sound, and two great NPR stations. I have two Siamese cats .
Suzanna Plumb purchased this Studio in 1974
Why Suzanna Plumb chose Rainier Valley
Developed the studio apartment in 1989. A great neighborhood should be shared with those who cannot purchase in this prime area! Remodeled in December 2010.
What makes this Studio unique
Quick access to beautiful areas on foot. The sense of history and groundedness in staying in the house that was built to promote the area in 1905, and the authenticity of its architecture. The presence of a variety of plants on the decks, hot tub house and in the yard. A quiet neighborhood close to downtown, yet on a huge lake resembling the lakes of Italy.

Seattle Family Visit
We had a great time in Seattle! The Plumb Suite we stayed in was sufficient for our stay. Perfect size for two people, close to the city, great neighborhood! Made two attempts at contacting the owner for an early arrival, left messages but no return call by the owner, so we drove around until it was time to check in, about two hours. There was some confusion on how to use the bathroom fan (did not get it to work) The guest info book had instructions, but there were too many cross outs from previous edits to understand some of it. Bed wasn't too comfortable, but that was most likely our personal preference.
Rainer Valley property #346573
Everything as advertised, unit is in an older neighborhood with outstanding rapid transit nearby, as a matter of fact bus #14 which you board about 150 yards from the rental takes you right across the street from the Mt Baker Link station. (or you can walk its all down hill!) Only thing to keep in mind is it has a tripping hazard, a small step from the kitchen to the sleeping area, in the dark this could cause a fall.
Historic Mt Baker Park neighbourhood
Stayed 2 nights in Aug 2019. Short walk to very good Mioposto restaurant. Bus stop nearby was a good pickup spot for Uber/taxi. Clean and quiet. Would stay there again.
We were very happy with every aspect of our experience. It was exactly what we were expecting and would absolutely reserve this place again.
Would stay again if in the area close to a lake, and a few restaurants 15 min from down town. but parking was on the street didn't like that
Obnoxious Host Subterrainious rental.
On arrival we did not have the right code to open the door. On asking the owner she was not nice at all and also barked at us that we couldn't park the car near the unit. The unit is like living in an illegal unit in a parents basement.
The unit itself was fairly clean. The bed had broken supports under it. At one point the owner unlocked and opened a locked door connecting the house with our unit and barked at us saying she smelled that someone was smoking. I said we were not smoking inside and when I asked her if she smelled smoke inside the unit she did not.
It's unconcionable for any owner to walk into a unit we or anyone else were renting. The owner was not nice from the moment we arrived and acted like we were putting her out just by renting the unit. There was no place to sit outside except for the other side of the house and the owner did not offer thier use. As a matter of fact except for barking at us as we moved in she offered no help whatsoever.
This was our first vrbo rental although we have rented many units with great results and pleasant hosts. We will not be back.
Mt. Baker is one of the oldest developed residential neighborhoods in Seattle, cleared in the 1900's. My house was the model for development which took place mostly in the 1920's. Elegant homes and landscaping surround the rental, with scenic walks along the lake with mountain views and lake swimming areas. Sailing center nearby where boats can be rented. Located south of downtown with easy access to downtown and airport via Light Rail. Situated near Columbia City, with upscale bars and small restaurants, as well as inexpensive ethnic restaurants in walking distance.
