Nora purchased this apartment in 2012
We found an old stone ruin in Brest pod Uckom and decided to restore it. The village is in a Nature charming and and hiking trails into the park are at our doorstep.

Our little family including a four year old stayed at this lovely place for a fortnight and it was just perfect...very caring hosts, a clean and very neat apartment, nice weather conditions and many attractions as for food, restaurants, hiking trails, even the beach was only a 35 minutes drive away...
a perfect holiday to escape the city life and all the stress involved
Casa Nora is a romantic village cottage in the CRO mountains, 4,5 km from the main road. The hosts were very caring, they even skipped their planned concert in order to welcome us as we were arriving very late. The place is perfect for the family with children or for the couple, kitchen is well equipped, everything was clean. The distance to the other nice locations like Rijeka, Pula or Opatije is very comfortable.
We had a wonderfully restful time at Casa Nora, which is in the middle of a quiet Istrian village in a beautiful national park about an hour's drive from Pula. Nora and Al were great hosts: welcoming, accommodating, and with great recommendations for mountain bike rides, hikes, and places to visit nearby. The cottage is well set-up for self-catering, though we'd recommend food shopping in Pula or Buzet before arrival, as the mini-mart in Lupoglav (the nearest 'town') has the essentials but not much more. The mountain bike trails in the park are well-marked, with a good range of easy and more challenging routes. The scenery from the top is amazing, and the only sound as you cycle is birdsong and the wind through the forest. The coast, with blue, clean sea and lots of great ice-cream, is less than an hour's drive away, and well worth a visit. We ate out a couple of times - once by the coast, and the other in a great pub/restuarant in Roc, about 20 minutes drive from the cottage - amazing pasta and truffles at very reasonable prices. It was a bit of a last-minute decision to come, but I'd definitely come again - there's a lot more mountain-biking to do!
If you are looking for an authentic Croatian mountain village experience this is definitely a place to consider. We stayed here for 3 nights this summer on our travel through Europe. We have spent a lot of time in northern Italy mountain biking, but wanted to try out Croatia for the first time, as we had heard many good things about this area. We were looking for a mix of an authentic small village experience with good MTB and road biking possibilities, as we are very active. We came across this brand new restored villa and went for it. The villa had one large apartment in the second floor, and two smaller apartments in the lower floor. Each apartment had a small garden with sitting area. The villa was beautifully restored and located in the center of a small Croatian village. The atmosphere was nice and quite with very friendly neighbors. The owners, Nora and Al, where there doing final landscaping and restoring a beautiful watchtower to the building. Al and Nora are themselves enthusiastic mountain bikers and offered to be guides the two days we went biking. The village is located in a park and had amazing trails basically starting right outside the door. We had two great rides! Although we only rode our mountain bikes the two days we road, this area is perfect for road biking as well, with nice winding roads with little traffic. We dinned out two evenings and tried two different places based on our hosts recommendations, both places with excellent food and wine. One was a restaurant located in the medieval part of Buzet, also known as the city of truffles. The other was a beautifully located kanoba, a family style restaurant with amazing food and wine and an amazing view. If we ever return to this area we would definitely consider this place again. I would love to go back for more biking. Thanks to Nora and Al for their hospitality, guided trips and other recommendations...we had a great time!
We stayed 3 nights at Casa Nora, Croatia.
It was such a terrific stay. The little town is so small that it seems almost unreal….to find such a place of peace in this super hectic world is almost impossible.
We stayed in the apartment downstairs and were just happy with the surrounding. The place is brand new furnished; everything is modern in stylish white.
At night you don’t hear any noise; it is just peaceful. During the day, we did some nice mountain bike tours with Al (the owner of the house). We drove through beautiful forest, nice little villages, saw hunting dogs…just a different scenery from our home. Because there is no traffic at all, we would also strongly recommend road biking.
At night, we went to really great nearby restaurants and were eating truffles menus…just delicious. You even can see the woods were the truffles are harvested from your dining table ;-)
We also did a nice little trip to the coast. There is this beautiful little town, called Porec. It has a nice harbor and you think you are sitting in little Nice. Downtown is nice for shopping and little sight seeing.
We really recommend booking Casa Nora if you want a relaxed, beautiful vacation.
We definitely will come back.
We spent a great week at Casa Nora in the small village Brest pod Uckom in Istria/Croatia. The environment is surrealistically beautiful at the foot of impressive mountains. The atmosphere of the village and the house was maximum calm and peaceful. At night we enjoyed the sounds of the crickets in the meadows around, at day we had walks around the fields or drove to the sea. Both coasts aren't that far away, between 30 and 60 minutes, according to the road you chose, but the drive through the valley and over the mountains is worthwhile. The flat in the house, rustical from the outside, was highly sophisticated from the inside - the interior was both complete and tasteful. The kitchen contained everything you need for self-catering, there was free and working Wi-Fi and air-conditioning in all rooms.
On top of that you have the two hosts living in the upper floor of the house, Nora and Al, friendly and helpful people, enthusiastic about their treasure they have. We even got invited to harvest some tasty vegetables out of the garden.
We can recommend this location to everyone looking for some calmness and/or with kids who can explore the area without any concerns.

Road biking lovers will find the small roads in inland Istria quiet even in high season, and they are perfect to explore the numerous tiny Italianesque hamlets and villages and admire the views.
Dining choices are spectacular! Award-winning restaurants, like 'Zigante', 'Toklarija' and many more, serve fresh truffle or wild asparagus or wild mushroom dishes daily in the nearby towns and villages. We recommend you try the local “konobas”………..fresh seasonal country food and local wines………wonderful and very affordable prices!
