My fiancé (now husband) and I rented this home for the week for our wedding. It was the perfect place for us! The grounds are absolutely beautiful, it was the perfect size and Paul, his wife and his adorable dog Ted were fantastic hosts! We had 90 guests attend the wedding, had a caterer hired, enough tables and chairs for the guests as well as the caterer and any other things we had set up, and there was ample room! Also the guests had no problem with parking! The fire pit was a big hit for the guests that wanted to stay late, and the lower level deck works great as a dance floor!! Also you couldn't get a better view for pictures! They even allows our dog Francis to stay the week. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to get married outside!
We rented this unit for the month of August as we were in the area for our son's wedding and needed a base from which to operate. The property was excellent for us as we had many family members like our selves traveling from afar and this gave them a place to stop off while visiting the area. The house is ideally located being only 20 min from downtown Halifax or Dartmouth. It is situated so one can explore both the Fundy shore or the area from Halifax to Lunenburg and on to Yarmouth. That is if you can drag your self away from those Muskoka chairs overlooking the pond. Paul was a most gracious host and was always there if we had a problem which were few. Our one son came with an 18 month old and she enjoyed feeding the ducks in the pond so this is an excellent place for people with children. We would definately stay here again but it books up fast though because it is a popular place.
It is everything the photos show and more!!
We travelled from New Zealand and stayed here in Spring. Our eldest daughter was marrying a young Canadian man in Halifax. We arrived as a family of 5 and added bridesmaids and grandparents to the mix during the stay.
The house manages to capture the cosiness of a family home, with plenty of space for people to sit and chat without being on top of each other.
The outside area is stunning and a place to really relax and recoup at the end of a long day. The fire pit was a huge hit, especially with the male family members who spent ages standing around it, poking it with large sticks.
We loved the animals throughout the living areas, but if you do not like them, they can be removed. For us, they made us feel like we were enjoying the total Canadian experience, especially the bear!
We had many visitors throughout the wedding lead-up and the house is so well set up with glasses, crockery, cutlery etc making hosting an absolute breeze.
The hosts, Paul and Yvonne are so accommodating. They were available for every little wedding challenge that arose and gently advised us on how best to achieve the long list of jobs we had.
And the photos! We have the most beautiful family photos to remember this special time together, most of them taken out on the deck.
We invited extended family over on the day after the wedding and Paul cooked for us all. The lobsters were divine! Cooked to perfection, they just melted in the mouth. This was the highlight of the trip, after the wedding of course!
This truly was our home-away-from-home and we will book again as soon as we can return to Canada.
Thank you to Paul and Yvonne on an amazing weekend. From the property, to the food, to the hosts, this is the best experience I have ever had using VRBO/Homeaway.
The house is spacious and wonderfully designed, with the outdoor space perfect for a weekend of relaxation and cooking. The pond, the fire pit, and the garden of fresh herbs were a treat for the short weekend.
While the property is stunning and perfect for any type of getaway, the best part of the stay was Paul and Yvonne. They are the perfect hosts full of good laughs and fun stories. Trust Paul when it comes to picking up some fresh seafood. He is in the know, and if you have the opportunity to have him cook lobsters, scallops or shrimp for you, do not say no.
Thanks Paul and Yvonne for the perfect, relaxing weekend! Sonia and I needed it.
Will definitely be back as many times as we can and plan on recommending the property to all our friends and family.
What an amazing property and experience! From the wide circular driveway to the cathedral ceilings, the spacious fully-appointed kitchen to the amazing views of the man-made pond and bridges, everything is a feast for the senses! There was a guitar and piano, 2 great indoor fireplaces, and my personal favorite, the outdoor firepit on a spacious patio! Both full baths have skylights, and the body jets in the master bathroom shower are very relaxing. The place is beautiful, clean and very well maintained.
It is obvious from every detail that this home was built with pride and love. The owners, Paul and Yvonne, were very gracious hosts and were kind enough to prepare a delicious Nova Scotian lobster boil for us, as well as supply an amazingly fresh scallops and shrimp feast.
We were only there for 3 days/2 nights this time around, but are already planning our return with like-minded friends who are sure to fall in love with this home as we did.
We rented this property for a week to host our wedding and it was fantastic! The property is absolutely stunning and up kept very well. It's a hidden gem for sure! The owners are great people! The property is quite large and there was plenty of space for our 100 + guests outside, no problem. The grounds are perfect for pictures. We had fires with our friends and family at night and relaxed on the patio during the days. We will definitely be back! Thanks Paul.
