Escape your busy life at cozy 'Crystal Cove', lovely light renovated space with an all-wood, open-plan interior.
Enjoy views of beautiful Crystal Lake and the gentle mountains in the distance. The large wrap-around deck invites you to dine al fresco and listen to the loons.
Or relax on the screened porch a few feet from the water while the kids jump off the dock and swim out to the raft. 200' of private sandy-bottomed, paddle-in waterfront is yours to enjoy, perfect for little ones. Two kayaks are waiting for you to explore the lake, PFDs provided.
Plenty of room for all the family with 4 bedrooms: three with queen beds, one with twin beds. Kids love sleeping on 2 twin mattresses in the open loft (watch your head!)
Private and secluded, yet only a couple minutes from convenient corner store for all your needs, including delicious fresh-baked breads and pastries on the weekend! A short 15 minutes drive takes you to Alton Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee with all large lake amenities, restaurants, shopping, mini-golf etc.
Board games and water toys provided but there is no TV at this home because time spent here is about being with family and getting back to the simple pleasures in life. Come and unwind!
We are a Massachusetts family with three boys. We fell in love with this beautiful cabin because it gives us the opportunity to take time out of our hectic schedules to enjoy family time together.
Julie purchased this cabin in 2010
This was the first house we saw! Nothing we saw later could compare...the location, right on the water and on a private road could not be more perfect. It is an easy drive to 'civilization', and yet feels like a complete escape.
We love having the lake on our doorstep. Kicking off the day with a refreshing swim, or paddling out in a kayak to watch the sunset. It's perfect! And if we're feeling too lazy to make dinner, there's freshly made pizza and icecream just 5 mins away at the Gilmanton Ironworks Market.
What a wonderful vacation my family had. We spent our days swimming, fishing, boating and napping, Nights were dinners together, by the fire and playing games. Great to have some much time with family
This property provides an amazing homelike feel and was the perfect location for our family retreat. The property was so much more than we expected. It was clean and comfortable; open and welcoming. The spacious interior offered lots of room to gather for conversation and spread out for private time and contemplation. The rooms were large and comfortable the kitchen space accommodating. The ping pong table, fire pit and kayaks offered additional enjoyment for all ages.
The huge deck provided a serene view of the crystal clear lake. The July 4th puzzle was a thoughtful touch that provided a focal point and brought the family together for collaborative bonding. Yes, we finished it!
We brought our pontoon boat, put in at the public dock and had plenty of clearance at the property's dock to secure the boat. The lake is not overrun with too many speedboats allowing for leisurely cruises around the lake and plenty of fishing time for our avid anglers.
Kudos to Julie for being a gracious and thoughtful provider of amenities that make a family getaway successful, fun and worry free. Our children, after visiting for a 4th of July BBQ and cruise around the lake immediately asked for the property contact convinced that the convenient location, child friendly lake front, ease of access and comfort factors & amenities far exceeded their current choice of vacation accommodations on Cape Cod. Especially given summer traffic...
I highly recommend this property for any large family summer vacationing. A rare find.
I don't normally bother to write reviews, but I really feel compelled in this case because the place was so terrific and the owner so great. Our family vacation group was on the big side for the house - nine adults and two small babies - but the place accommodated us without a problem. It's actually nicer than the pictures - feels really nice to be there. We had beautiful weather, so therefore much kayaking, swimming, fishing, and even sleeping out on the screened-in porch listening to the loons - fantastic! All in all, a wonderful place! I recommend a trip to Locke's Hill - a 30-minute drive and then another 30-minute hike up to one of the most beautiful views you'll ever hope to see overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee. FYI - there's a great coffee shop in Laconia - Wayfarer Coffee Roasters.
We had a lovely time staying at the cottage and viewing the fall leaves! My mom, sister and little nieces came to visit and we decided to go to the Lakes region to see the beautiful fall colors. Our group consisted of 3 adults (1 senior) and two children (3 years and 1.5 years) The cottage suited us very well, as we had many different needs with all of our age ranges. The little ones had tons of books and toys to play with which were all available in a bookcase in the cottage. They loved playing in the yard as well, there were lots of fun outdoor toys and games for them also provided. The big girls loved having wine and sitting on the deck star gazing after the little ones went to sleep.
The town of Alton Bay is close and convenient, and we really enjoyed eating at Shibleys at the Pier, which was recommended in the visitor book. We also ventured into Wolfboro for the day and had a great time browsing the streets and shops. The grounds around the cottage are beautiful and very peaceful. I could imagine writing a novel out on the deck!
We had everything we needed and were very comfortable during our stay. I recommend this property to anyone looking for a good place to gather and enjoy the outdoors!
We were on a touring holiday of New England and two nights stay at this lakeside cabin was our R and R before driving on again. It is a perfect place to relax, so quiet, yet with the lake view always something to watch. We were so lucky that we had crystal clear, sunny days, so the reflections of the fall foliage in the water were beautiful - spent much time trying to capture on camera! Besides the lovely walking trails there is so much to do, kayaks, table tennis, table football, board games. The cabin is so well equipped and the quick to light gas 'log burner' makes it so easy to be cosy in the cooler evenings. We left with our energy levels fully recharged.
You are no doubt reading this review because you have decided you want to go away, are pretty sure of the location and your budget and the features you'd like in a rental property. You are probably toying with this one and maybe 1 or 2 more. I suggest you email the owners of all of those rentals you are considering with a few questions and see what kind of email you get back. See how long it takes for them to respond, if they answer those questions, what the tone of the email is like and whether they seem friendly and on the ball. I am writing this review to help you make a decision. You see, the owner does not need my help finding renters, so I am writing this for you, the potential renter. Julie, the owner, doesn't need to advertise heavily. I know she has this listed on the usual vacation websites but other than that, it's word of mouth and positive stays that are keeping her calendar full of repeat vacationers. I could go on about how great Crystal lake is or how nice New England is, but you probably know that already and want the real dirt, so to speak. I have rented many houses over the years and I actually enjoy looking at the listings. I'm the one in my family who does all of the leg work when it comes to inquiries, reservations, payment and contracts. So, I have looked at a gazillion listings and contacted many owners. I have had a number of questions for Julie before moving ahead with the actual booking, and more interactions during the reserving process. She is THE BEST owner I have ever dealt with, hands down. No, we are not cousins and I do not know her otherwise. She answered every one of my annoying questions (Do the bedrooms have doors? Bureaus? How close is the nearest neighbor? etc.) and then some. I learned a long time ago, despite great photos, to not assume anything. You know how you sense when someone is in it for the money and to make it worse you get there and find the place so unappealing, like it smells and there's no room for your stuff and there's one lamp in the whole house? Julie and this home are the total opposite. If there's anything I'd like you to take away from this review is this: You are paying for an experience, not just a house. The owner is NORMAL, the house and property are divine, there are only pleasant surprises and you won't regret this choice.
This place is bigger than is looks from the photos. I had some friends and family with me for a relaxing getaway and it was perfect. Cornhole was everyone's favorite outdoor game when we weren't swimming or out in the kayaks (my favorite). Lots of loons which was cool to watch. The firepit is huge and the chairs around it are comfy. The deck is a giant wrap around with a great view of the lake when you're make grub in the grill. We had some powerful thunder and lightning storms that were really exciting and with the giant windows we sat inside and watched. On top of it the owners make it very easy and they are very accommodating to the renters. I rent a lot of houses and this was one of my best experiences.
I really couldn't have asked for more. I hope to be back next year.
