New Years 2017

  • 5 of 5

The Station is a very clean and nice home on Plum Lake. The house was great for 3 generations of our family to bring in the new year. Both upstairs and down provide large open spaces for kids to run and play. If you visit in winter the house is great with fireplaces and several zones of heating - all were comfortable. The downstairs was great for the kids with the bunk room and games, while the parents and grand parents enjoyed playing cards at the bar.

We were able to snowmobile right from the property and enjoyed our visit to the Sayner Pub (get the pizza and bloody marys). We also enjoyed walking the backroads in the snow and visiting the equestrian area (owned by the property owners). The owners make you feel very welcome and are close by should you have any questions or need any assistance.

Overall a great winter getaway and we look forward to another visit. If you rent The Station I challenge you to the 1,000 piece John Deere puzzle - it took us 27 hours and was our gift to this great vacation get-a-way.

Amazing Vacation!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at the Station on the Shores of Plum Lake in Sayner, WI with a group of friends. The house conveniently accommodated all four families, and was well appointed with everything we needed for an enjoyable stay, including being decorated with a Christmas tree and lights. The owners and caretakers were so welcoming, attentive and were there for us if we needed anything at all. The house was close to the snowmobiling trails, which was convenient as the lake wasn't frozen completely at the time we stayed. We rent often and this is now one of our very favorite homes - we will be back for sure not only for winter but also for summer vacations!!! Thank you for a great trip!!!

Perfect for families

  • 4 of 5

There were 13 of us with 8 adults, 3 toddlers, and 2 young school age children. We also had 3 dogs. There is plenty of room for everyone. The Great room and kitchen/dining area is fantastic. Plenty of room for everyone. The view of the lake is fantastic. All the bedrooms are large with comfortable beds and plenty of closet space. 4 bathrooms so every family had their own. We had great weather for outdoor activities (boating, swimming, fishing). The lake is excellent! Sayner Pub Pizza is GREAT.

Pros: The views

The house

The amenities

Cons: Not enough towels

Property workers during the week

If something could be done about the geese!

Owner's Response: Hi! So sorry about the towels. Wish you would have called to get more - we have plenty! Also, extra TP, soap, shampoo, etc. Unfortunately, property maintenance is an ongoing concern and has to happen when the sun shines! There really is no solution, but wish we hadn't disturbed you so. Perhaps we can try to schedule this work when our guests are away for the day, but, again, it's a no win situation since we really want to keep the property nice and yet accommodate our guests and still have to deal with what the weather gives us! We really do try to do as much as we can on Fridays between 9a.m. check out time and 2p.m. check in time. Have a lovely Autumn. The leaves are getting to the absolutely gorgeous stage here! Debra

perfect for family get together

  • 5 of 5

There was eleven of us from grandparents down to one year old plus dog. The Station was very clean and the accommodations were excellent. The kids loved the downstairs rec area. The views of the lake were awesome from every room. The kids also loved going up to the dressage area to visit and feed the horses. Deborah and Frank were excellent to work with and were very helpful in letting us use their pontoon boat to tow our boat to the launch after we encountered a problem.

We would certainly recommend the Station for all families.

AMAZING LAKE VIEWS

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed our week at The Station at Plum Lake very much and would highly recommend it! We loved the panoramic view of the lake from almost every room, especially the kitchen-dining-great room area. That room had plenty of room for 11 of us and two dogs. The weather was so great, we didn't even spend time in the lower level that had a bar, pool table, ping pong table, and more. When we weren't in or on the lake kayaking, biking, hiking, fishing, sunset cruising, paddle boarding or just playing in the sandy bottom shoreline, we were on the large deck enjoying the views and lake breeze. We also enjoyed the fire pit almost every night and couldn't get enough of the sound of the loons. The eagles would soar right above the deck and dive for fish in front of the pier - a real treat to watch! Debra was so great to work with when we planned our trip - and we appreciated that very much! We also enjoyed Wildwood Wildlife Park in Minocqua and dinner at The Thirsty Whale - both family favorites in the Northwoods.

The Perfect Get Away

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved the Station House on Plum Lake. It has everything you'd ever want in a vacation home. The huge room downstairs was great for the kids and adults with ping pong, pool, movies, patio cook outs, fire pit, and the bar area. The great room upstairs was perfect for family dinners, telling stories, listening to music, and catching up. The kids caught blue gill and perch right off the dock. The layout also provided ample space for everyone to recharge, take a nap, or read a book. All with an amazing view of Plum Lake. If you are looking for a nice home for your family vacation you can't go wrong with the Station Home on Plum Lake. It's the perfect get away.

Please note that HomeAway does not have our location correct. We are not in St. Germain but rather in Sayner on the east end of Plum Lake (about 10 miles north of St. Germain). Directions: from downtown Sayner take county road N east toward Star Lake approximately 2-1/2 miles to Hanson Rd. on the left. Turn left on Hanson (large Plum Lake Dressage sign on corner) about 1/2 mile to Plum Lake Station Rd. Turn left and follow the road to the end, a bit less than 1/2 mile, where our property is located right on the lake. This is also where the old railroad depot is located, thus, the name 'Plum Lake Station'!
