The Wilmes Farmhouse is a 1900's farm home that has been newly renovated. The original oak trim and hardwood floors remain intact and add to the rustic feel of the farm home. It offers beautiful views from the front porch swing and throughout the home. Tranquil sunsets can be viewed from the adjoining balcony. The large shade trees are perfect for picnics. The home is suitable for single families or groups.
After a day at Holiday World, hiking, antiquing, or sightseeing the farmhouse is a peaceful place to relax. Children and adults alike will enjoy. A stay in the farm house will be a memory no one will soon forget.
We had a small family reunion of 7 adults and 2 children and the house seemed to welcome us as soon as we drove onto the property. Pretty, well cared for flowers blooming along the entrance side of the old farmhouse and a nice porch swing all caught my eye. Once inside everything was very nice, large rooms for eating and socializing and 4 bedrooms plus 2 full baths made everyone very happy. This farmhouse was just perfect and only a few miles to Holiday World, the reason for renting this home. It is furnished nicely with all the conveniences of home and we all enjoyed our stay so much that this ole Farmhouse is going to be our go-to rental for our yearly family reunion! Many thanks to the owner for answering my questions quickly and for her cooperation allowing us a later Sunday morning checkout. We will be back and hope others find this old, sturdy home as lovely as our family did.
We stayed here during a trip to Holiday World and it was a fantastic find. The house is in great shape and feels like home. There is so much room and the rooms are all so neat in this older home. The closets were HUGE! The dollhouse was really neat as well. Having a washer and dryer was awesome as well. Gina was easy to work with and responded really quickly if we had any questions. The only thing we missed was wi-fi. We will come back here again during our next Holiday World trip. Thanks again for a great stay!
We had an awesome week at this house. There was 8 adults and 5 kids. A large yard was awesome for the kids and we all enjoyed the working farm next door. Close to many things to do. This was the first house we have used that supplied everything we needed such as dish soap, paper towels, laundry and dishwasher soap. Thank you for letting us use your home.
We stayed at the Wilmes Farmhouse during a two-day holiday weekend. We really enjoyed our stay. It was so nice to just kick back and relax. We grilled pork steaks and vegetables after a long day at Holiday World. Gina was always available to answer or help with any questions we had. The views are gorgeous and the homey feel makes it worthwhile. There is plenty of blankets and pillows readily available. My daughter really loved the dollhouse with the garage that opened. She had the best time and that was what it was all about.
This location is prime for a trip to Santa Claus World- now known as Holiday World. The rooms are larger than the pictures make them appear. There was more than enough room for my husband, myself, and three children- ages 2, 2, and 3. Right outside is a barn with many cows that the kids absolutely adored! Be warned that if you go in the summer, and are not use to the country, the cow smell might surprise you at first.... but having the cows outside the windows was completely worth it. We also went for a few walks up the gravel road and found a turtle and there were tons of frogs in the yard. Because the kids are so young, we spent a lot of time at the house. We had all of the meals at the house. There was a grocery store about 5-10 minutes away, so we could get all we needed.
I have to include that we have stayed in VRBO places before and this was the first one that provided laundry detergent, dish washing liquid and detergent, and coffee. It is the small things that make a place special. I would also like to include that we had a few minor glitches in our stay, but the owners were above and beyond accommodating. They were so kind and thoughtful to all of our needs. We had an open line of communication after our stay. For that, I am grateful.
I would recommend this property to anyone. We will return to this property for our next Santa Claus trip. Thank you for all of your kindness.
Our family gathered to celebrate my nephew's University of Evansville graduation. There was plenty of room for all of us. We enjoyed the farm setting and had a pleasant walk around the property. The town of Santa Claus is an interesting place to visit. The owner was professional and efficient.
