Fletcher House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 2-6)

Grab your chance to be on Cloud 9 Relaxation's hill-top, just a hop and skip to Asheville and the Biltmore Estate but you are in the countryside with NO noise. 3 bedroom, 2.5 baths sleep up to 6 comfortably. Is it just the two of you? Call for special rates. Pet Friendly.

Discount BILTMORE TICKETS are available.

We have 200 private acres on the southern slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Fairview, NC. We call it Cloud 9 Farm, a hobby farm (family-owned since 1965), a place you will never want to leave. Fresh chicken eggs provided for every visit. The owners live nearby if you need anything. Property secured with an entrance gate. And...did we mention, quiet?

How far is Asheville?

Asheville is just 4 intersections and 15 minutes away! Same for the Biltmore Estate.

WE work, YOU RELAX! We raise blueberries, chickens, cows, honey bees and timber with Cloud 9 Relaxation Home overlooking it all.

* one level

* easy driveway

* centrally heated and air conditioned

* mountain views from every room

* local artists' decor

* wall of sliding glass doors opens up to view full length of the house

* Watch the sunset or stargaze from your private hot tub on the deck

* Gas-log fireplaces

* Pet friendly. Dogs love the farm and being with you on your vacation

Yes, it's a retro1970-built, ranch-style house BUT with lots of updates, windows, the sunlight always lighting and warming this southwesternly-exposed home (passive solar) in the winter. Such a comfortable, easy home to be in. Walls are opened up to show off the view, no small rooms, new furniture, new fixtures and kitchen appliances, tiled walk-in shower. A tear-drop shaped rock-stamped patio added near the full-house-length deck, makes outside living at Cloud 9 in the mountains an energy experience you won't forget.

What can families do outside on Cloud 9 Farm?

HOT TUB with a view on the deck! Hike the trails to our highest peak: “Buzzard’s Roost”, feed the chickens and cows, enjoy a picnic at Peterson Pond, swim or paddle boat, and watch for birds, wild turkeys and deer, pick in the garden or munch on blueberries in the summer. And, if you want, help with farm chores, too. It's like going back in time to a simpler way of life. No traffic noise, no street lights, no power lines, no neighbors. Quiet.

Inside stuff?

Wi-Fi, Large Screen TV with DISH network, puzzles and games (board and video), professional size air hockey table, enjoy the views out every room, one step in. Great light for reading your tablet. Plus a library full of books from gardening to wellness. Air conditioned.

By staying on Cloud 9 Farm you are supporting the conservation stewardship of the land and animals. Tours of our 'best management practices' available. On-site farm products for sale in season: chicken, beef, honey from our pollinator hives on the farm, blueberries, raspberries and vegetables in season, natural skin care products, too. Hair Salon opportunity in proprietor’s home on the property.

Cloud 9 Relaxation Home ; Your 'peace' of heaven! What are you waiting for?

Need a cozier place? Or want to have some of the family spread out but close by? Heavenly Hideaway Cabin, for two, shares the same driveway.

HEAVENLY HIDEAWAY CABIN #118964.

Cloud 9 was part of the 2015 Cycle to Farm Tour. Also featured on the 2012 and 2013 Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project Tour, in the 2011 book, Farm Fresh, NC and was in Southern Living 2010 September Issue in the NC Carolina Living 'Best Farm Stays in North Carolina.'

About Janet Peterson

Janet here, your hostess, and conservation farmer owner/manager (with lots of help) of one little valley of Fairview, North Carolina. Our sing-along slogan is 'Beds, Berries, Trees, Beef and Honey Bees and don't forget the chickens' which says it all about what you can find on Cloud 9 Farm. These are my many interests and passions which I invite you to share with me as you step back in time for a visit to a simpler way of life on Cloud 9 Farm.

Janet Peterson purchased this house in 2004

Why Janet Peterson chose Asheville Area

I DIDN'T buy this property, it is my family home to share with you. We refurbished the mountain top, retirement Cloud 9 Relaxation Home for families up to 6 and built Heavenly Hideaway, a cozy cabin, for couples, too. Both have hot tubs on an open deck under the stars. Just 8 miles from I-40, you can be at the Biltmore Estate, Grove Park Inn, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, and the waterfalls of Dupont State Forest in 15 minutes. Quiet and private.

Where does the owner live? Florida? Texas? California? Are you kidding me? I live on this beautiful property, too.

What makes this house unique

Asheville is just 15 minutes away for a soiree into town...a delectable meal or a great, day-excursion, especially to the Biltmore Estate, but vacation renters find that they never really have to leave the farm because there is enough to do right here; hiking, enjoying the valley pond area, picking blueberries in July, or just sitting on the huge deck (or in the hot-tub) over-looking the mountains and relaxing. The layout of Cloud 9 is very outside-friendly with sliding glass doors in every room to open with natural light and get that fresh mountain air. Views, views, views! Come see for yourself!

Guestbook comments from the owner

7 of us and 2 dogs from Greensboro, NC, Atlanta, GA, Raleigh, NC and South Africa!

Thank you for sharing your space for a wonderful weekend and family gathering to celebrate birthdays and enjoy being together! All the best.

Great fun!!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the Cloud 9 Relaxation Home (3 seniors, 2 dogs) as a single story place that was pet friendly, away from the congestion of Asheville but close enough to take in all of the attractions. Everything you read about the place on VRBO is accurate. It truly is a 20' drive into Downtown Asheville. You are truly living on a working farm but in a house with all the ammenities we city folk are used to. You truly do wake up every morning with the roosters crowing. Partake in as much of the farm activities as you like; we gathered eggs, fed the cows and chickens, picked fresh berries and vegetables and learned a lot about beekeeping while enjoying fresh honey and eggs. We enjoyed the trails around the property. Janet and Jeff couldn't have been more hospitable hosts.

Owner's Response: 10 days...long enough to beat the heat because it always cools down in the mountains at night...and long enough to truly relax and pace your relaxation. Glad we could assist in that!

Wow!

Part of me does not want to write this review as I would like to keep Heavenly Hideaway as my little secret. Awesome property, beautiful cabin, hiking trails and all the amenities. We will be back Janet!

Owner's Response: Heavenly Hideaway Cabin (on the same property as Cloud 9 Relaxation Home pictured here) feels like a secret get=away just as you described. We think it's that way because you are as alone as you want to be in the quite woods with no other house in site and unless you saw us working in the valley fields and garden you would think you OWN this mini-estate of 200 private conservation land!

Cloud 9 Relaxation Home was outstanding!

  • 5 of 5

Cloud 9 Relaxation Home was just outstanding. Janet welcome our family shortly after we arrived. She took my four grandsons to gather the eggs and feed the chickens. She drove us down to the blueberry and blackberry patch to pick fresh berries for breakfast. We got to sleep in because the grand-kids went down stairs to play air hockey and video games in the morning. It was very relaxing vacation with lots of extras. The hot tub was a nice way to end the day.

Beautiful & Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Cloud 9 is a beautiful and relaxing home away from home. We enjoyed everything from hiking, Peterson Pond, blueberries and the farm animals. Close enough to Asheville but far enough away to feel like you're in the country. Close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore and numerous Brewerys and water falls. I'd highly recommend! This is our 1st stay at Cloud 9 with our family and pets, we will be back! We have also stayed at the Heavenly Hideaway cabin on several occasions and highly recommend for couples :) Janet makes you feel like you're right at home.

Owner's Response: It's great that after you've experienced Heavenly Hideaway Cabin, also listed as "other properties by owner," you wanted your family to come here and vacation at our bigger home. Using Cloud 9 Relaxation Home for your launching pad to see all the Western North Carolina Sites took some smart planning. AND you went to my favorite pottery place; Mud Dabbers.

Cloud 9 is amazing!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I spent 5 nights at Cloud 9 and weren't ready to come home. Janet and Jeff are wonderful hosts, anticipating everything we might need and sharing their life on the farm overlooking the mountains. We were greeted with fresh eggs and picked blueberries for breakfast. A highlight was having coffee, dinner or a glass of wine on the back deck overlooking the property and the mountains.

Janet even played croquet and bocce ball with us on their new courts. We were also able to spend lots of time in Asheville and appreciated all of the information provided about things to do.

Owner's Response: A bunch of gals meeting somewhere fun every year and sharing notes on life..Cloud 9 was glad to host you. I like how you planned an activity every day but still had time for a morning walk where we'd see you out and about! Thanks for helping us figure out that we need to mow the grass shorter on the croquet court so we could whack that ball farther!

A Little Bit of Heaven for a 30th Anniversary

  • 5 of 5

Such an amazing place! Thank you for placing this little bit of heaven in the perfect spot. We hiked up to Buzzard’s Roost our first morning. It was absolutely breathtaking. We traveled down to Lake Lure and took the pontoon boat tour around the lake and made the hike up Chimney Rock and Hickory Nut Falls. Both were incredible. We picked the perfect day because you could see forever. On Friday, we had a mostly rainy day and tried to find indoor activities so we visited a Salt Cave in Asheville and walked around Biltmore village. We drove the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville to Cherokee stopping along the way at Graveyard Fields to hike to the waterfalls. Cherokee was a cute town with a lot of Indian arts and crafts. Wish we had scheduled it around one of the shows there & more time to walk around the village. Spent a lot of down timed walking around the farm checking out the blueberry patch and taking the paddle boat out on the pond. All the little touches around here truly make it a home away from home. We spent almost an entire day at the Biltmore. Beautiful and definitely worth the trip. Our last full day we drove to Dupont State Park on Janet's recommendation to see several of the waterfalls there. A lot of walking but the waterfalls did not dissapoint. Janet surprised us by taking us to see the main house, Cloud 9...beautiful. We got to see the chickens, collect eggs hold some new babies and feed them. This has truly been a blessing to have found Cloud 9. It’s been a great way to spend a 30th Anniversary. Even though we had busy days, it was always nice to come “home” to a beautiful, quiet place we knew would be peaceful. Just leaning over the porch railing makes you feel like you are in another world. Being on "the farm" made it feel more like when I was a child growing up on a farm. Not only enjoyed the views but also enjoyed having the opportunity to talk to Janet and Jeff. They made us feel at home. We will definitely make a return trip but won't wait 30 years! Thank you Janet and Jeff for creating a wonderful place.

Owner's Response: You're quite welcome. It gives us great pleasure to provide a venue that vacationers can enjoy. When Cloud 9 was my parents retirement home, they entertained friends from all over the United States, so it was a natural fit for this awesome place to host friendly folks like you!
