Austin Bungalow Rental Photos and Description

Bungalow, 780 sq. ft., 2 Bedrooms, Office, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 3

This charming light-filled Hyde Park bungalow was built in 1915 and is rich in history. Remodeled in 2013 to maintain historic characteristics, it’s comprised of a large living room, full kitchen, a second bedroom with office space, and full bathroom with original antique claw foot tub/shower. Since the 1930's this house has been split into different residences. Enjoy this 780 square foot home that sleeps 3 adults. Other features include beautiful floors, 10-foot ceilings, a large fully fenced back yard, and fun vintage fixtures. It's within easy walking distance of multiple city and UT bus stops, Hyde Park restaurants, a bakery/coffee shop, Fresh Plus neighborhood grocery store, tennis courts, a park, and many other local Austin businesses. It's a great place to walk, ride bikes, or simply enjoy the quiet and relaxing atmosphere while being close to downtown.

We are family friendly and can accommodate children 5 years old or older. Total of 3 people includes any children. The layout is a shotgun layout. The living room leads into the main bedroom, then into the kitchen, then into the back room/office that has the bathroom attached to it.

Hyde Park is a quiet neighborhood near downtown Austin. It's great having access to everything downtown and central Austin has to offer and then come home to a quiet neighborhood.

Quaint, comfortable and convenient

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just finished a 6-nights stay at Pete's Hyde Park Bungalow. Absolutely love the neighborhood and the centralized location. Easy access to I-35, Mopac, downtown, etc. The bungalow is very comfortable and minus one isolated incident of noisy next door neighbor partying late on a Friday night, we had a wonderful stay and could not ask for more for the price paid. Pete was very responsive to all emails and questions, even before we made the decision to book this stay. The refundable deposit was promptly issued after our departure. Would definitely recommend if you appreciate the beauty of a small residential neighborhood.

All the comforts of home!

  • 5 of 5

What an absolute gem of a place! We have stayed at many house rentals over the years and sometimes never sure what to expect. This place did not disappoint! Bright colors, stylish décor and extremely comfortable gives this house an A+ for us. Many thanks to Pete for accommodating a slightly earlier check in date due to an early arrival.

Beautiful and clean vintage unit!

  • 5 of 5

Loved everything about it from the close proximity to shopping/restaurants to the quaint beadboard ceiling in the bedroom and tall ceilings. Pete was a most excellent host who addressed needs quickly and with expertise. So much better than a hotel, it's like a home away from home!

An excellent host...just don't want his places to fill up so I can't rebook.

  • 5 of 5

Pete is the dream host..always promptly responsive to requests. His units are well maintained, outfitted for the long term (we were there for two months) or short term stays.

This is the third year we have rented his apartments and hope to be back next year unless you crowd us out.

The locality is also very desirable to downtown, bus at the corner of Duval, quiet neighborhood, great walking area as well as the convenience of local stores.

Thanks Pete.

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

We came to Austin to visit with my son and his family who recently moved there after living two years in Japan. Since their apartment is tiny and in a complex, I wanted a place large enough for them to come over for visits. The unit we rented from Pete was just beautiful. It was very large and spacious for all 4 adults and an infant to gather in the living room or eat in the kitchen. It is truly a vacation rental with clean fine lines. No junk or clutter like you find sometimes when people are renting out their own living quarters, or those who feel it necessary to fill the place with "eclectic" art. The house has it's own vintage charm. There is a moon tower across the street that was interesting to see, especially the glow it emits at night! The neighborhood is nice and quiet. You can take short walks to the grocer or baker and if you like long walks about a mile or so each way, you can get to most anything. Or of course you can drive too.

Pete is great. He answers emails practically before you hit send. He has multiple properties and when we come back in June for our granddaughter's birthday, I will look to get one of his 2 bedroom places since we will be sharing with in-laws. Having a great host and wonderful place to stay makes for an enjoyable vacation. Thanks Pete!
