A wonderful 1940's cabin on the shores of Lake Michigan nestled under large old pines and cottonwoods. You get the woods and the lake. Something from both worlds! This is a perfect place to unwind and recharge, paint, draw or write that book you've been meaning to finish. This would also be a great place for a family with young kids (the water is shallow at beachside).
The snug one-bedroom cabin is perfect for one or two but can accommodate four with the sofa bed in the living room. Recently renovated, everything is clean and crisp and will bring you back to the days when families spent whole summers by the lake while Dad drove back and forth to work.
The sandy beach is beautiful and quiet. You can take a walk for miles, swim in the lake, or just sit and enjoy. Breathtaking morning sunrises, fun in the sun or stars at night, you will be glad you came!
Take a bike ride on the nearby Ozaukee Interurban Trail, golf at Whistling Straits, Black Wolf Run, The Bog, or other golf courses in the area, visit Kohler Art Center or Above & Beyond Children's Museum in Sheboygan, or simply enjoy the spectacular sunrises. Located only a mile away, you can also visit Harrington Beach State Park. There you can fish the beautiful quarry, hike or bike the trails, and cross-county ski the paths and expansive open areas. Interested in snowmobiling? You can also do that at the Kettle Moraine State Forest, which is an easy drive from the property. This and much more awaits you at this serene beachside home.
We spent five nights at this awesome secluded cabin with it's private beach. Can't say enough about it. Our dogs loved swimming in the lake and the kids like playing on the beach. There is a great park nearby, too. We'll be back! Thanks, Sally.
Thanks so much for sharing the cottage with is. Very relaxing, perfect place to get away. The lake is magnificent. We loved being able to walk right to the shore anytime we liked. Hope to be back soon. Sally was great and easy to work with.
We spent 3 days/2 nights at this sweet little cottage. It was a little piece of paradise! The tiny cottage was spotless, cozy & comfortable. The wooded views were beautiful and you can hear Lake Michigan waves crashing :) The private beach is amazing! Picnic table, chairs and a fire pit. We built a fire the first night and it was magical. Not a cloud in the sky and the star gazing was spectacular! We only saw one person walk by the 3 days we were here! My husband and I just can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our time here. The car never moved until we left :) The kitchen is well stocked so bringing all our own food and cooking was not a problem. We are hoping to return next Fall! Thank you Sally for all your help! You made reserving our time, payment etc., so easy! It was a pleasure to meet you :)
This quaint, cozy cabin was a great getaway for a much needed quiet long weekend. The cabin is stocked with all that is needed to cook, but I would recommend bringing all the drinking and cooking water you will need, as the well water was quite metallic. The surrounding property is lush, lovely, and welcoming, and the private beach is beautiful. Each night as the wind died down, a roaring fire was able to be had, and the quiet, soothing environment was intoxicating. In addition, there are 2 bikes available for use to ride along the state park nearby or along the picturesque farms. We will definitely be visiting again! Also, Sally is so sweet and accommodating!
60's and a cool breeze off the lake was just what we needed as a remedy for the 90 degree Texas heat.
House was a step back in time. A quaint little cabin with many curiosities and conversation pieces.
You have to see to believe but hours of entertainment without going anywhere.
Kitchen was adequate, linens clean and comfy, bedroom bed is a full but a pull out sofa gives the luxury of a queen.
The beach was secluded and we saw few others except the passing walker or renters a few doors down.
A fire on the beach made the perfect end to most of our days.
I almost don't want to write a review for fear that everybody will discover just how amazing and wonderful this secluded hideaway really is, because then we'll never be able to book it again! Seriously, I can't even describe how great a time we had - and this on top of the fact that it poured rain our entire stay! So we can't wait to get back when we can hang out by a fire on the beach...
The pictures posted here are good ones, but don't do the cabin justice. Whoever laid out the space was an architectural genius. And whoever decorated it is...eclectic to say the least. ;-) The hamlet where the cabin is located is groovy, too, and it was fun to go for a run and explore. (Side note to runners: this is the perfect place, offering long - and nearly traffic-free - windy roads right outside the door.) And the beach was a scene torn straight out of a J. Crew catalog. Seriously. It was.
We made a huge pot of chili and cornbread from scratch upon arrival, and then sat back and relaxed, relaxed, relaxed... So perfect, even with the rain. It was everything we've been hoping to find for a couple of years now.
Sally was the most gracious host, and we can't wait to return again and again!
