Welcome to our beautiful 2500 square foot home with its 21 windows, 9 foot ceilings and soaring 20 foot foyer entryway, making this one of the lightest, most airy, and spacious vacation homes in the Keys! Newly built in 2011, we feature Berber carpeting and Spanish tile throughout the house, with new model appliances and air conditioners (one on each floor with separate thermostats.)

What’s it Like Upstairs?
We have purposely configured our home with only 2 available bedrooms. The master bedroom is 24 feet x 14 feet with 4 windows facing our dock and canal. There is a 32” flat screen LED TV in the master as well. The master bath is 12 feet x 13 feet and features a whirlpool tub and a double vanity.
There is an open study/exercise area next to the master and, down the hall, the 13 1/2 foot by 13 1/2 foot guest bedroom with a 13 ½ foot by 5 ½ foot walk-in closet for ample storage.
There is a second full bath and shower contiguous to the guest bedroom. Both baths feature granite counter-tops.
Downstairs, the 20 foot high entryway leads to the Great Room where you will find comfy and inviting Natuzzi Italian leather living room furniture, a second 32” flat screen LED TV, a separate dining area, and a fully-equipped kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances, granite counter-tops, rich cherrywood cabinets, and Spanish tile floors.
Off the dining area are sliding-glass doors that open onto a peaceful back porch where you can read, listen to music or simply do as we do – pour a cool refreshing drink, watch the clouds go by, and R-E-L-A-X…
How About The Grounds?
Our home is fully landscaped, and in a style that requires minimal maintenance. (That means no 7 a.m. wake-up calls from lawn maintenance people starting lawn mowers and blowing leaves around.) Help yourself to the Key limes and star fruit!
We built the fully-equipped power, water, small home-built cleaning station and dock in July of 2011. If your boat is less than 25 feet, it will fit. If larger, give us a call and we'll work something out to spring-line our boat over to our neighbors...
Is This the Perfect Getaway House for You?
Because we chose to configure our home with only the two bedrooms available, it is perfect for us -- a couple who can enjoy the run of a nice big house most of the time, but still have a guest bedroom for family or friends on the occasions they come to visit.
If that’s your situation, and you don’t want to feel cramped in your vacation paradise (or fend off 20 family members who descend on you because they've discovered you have al-l-l-l those bedrooms!) this home will be perfect for you, too!
This is OUR HOME -- and it isn't for everyone. We aren't trying to fill it all the time and we limit occupancy to 4 PEOPLE, unless we discuss other accommodations prior to your visit.
What’s the Neighborhood Like?
Quiet. There are families that live in or have been coming to Breezeswept Beach Estates every year for 30 years or more. Our canal is 10 minutes from open ocean.
The Looe Key Resort, when we want a fresh-caught fish lunch or dinner, is a 3-minute drive or a 15-minute walk. (And the famous Looe Key Reef is about a 20-minute boat ride.) Surrounding us are all sorts of natural attractions (see our guest map below) as well as man-made ones. We are midway between Marathon and Key West, which really expands our dining and entertainment options.
WHO SHOULD NOT CONSIDER OUR HOME
If you have more than 4 people or pets that are family we can't keep our home feeling brand new. 4 people will do very well with our spacious and airy rooms, even on a rainy afternoon. Many more than that on that occasional day -- NOT!
We like to exchange e-mails and say hello on the phone to the guests staying in our home. Personal contact comes first! Once you have signed our Rental Agreement, which can be accomplished via e-mail, you'll give us your Deposit to Hold by credit card, check or wired funds. We'll send you instructions on entry and, voila, you enjoy your vacation.

I am a 'failed retiree.' I am retired from the corporate world as well as 36 years of active and reserve military service, Army and Air Force. The portability of our current business allows my wife and I the flexibility to split our time between our long-time Lake Tahoe home, and the fabulous Lower Keys, where we snorkel, dive, walk, bicycle and kayak. Just take a look at the satellite map up close and personal or look online for Florida Keys images and you'll see why Ramrod is so special. Midway between Key West and Marathon, just three miles from shopping and key deer on Big Pine Key, it is a world away from all that when it's time to just sit on the dock and watch the fish jump. (Our canal is open to the ocean so we see lots of marine life...)
We specifically chose Ramrod Key because it is out of the hustle, bustle, noise and congestion of Key West or Key Largo -- but still close enough to the 'big cities' to make an easy day of it or evening out. It's the best of both worlds.
You have most likely been looking forward to this vacation for weeks or months. Why not treat yourself to the best? We scrupulously maintain our home for our comfort and yours. If you'd like to experience what our previous guests have enjoyed and reviewed, we'd love to have you as our guest!
We're a 3-minute drive or a 15-20 minute walk from the Overseas Highway and less than a mile from open ocean. We have everything we need within a 5-10 minute drive and everything we might want within 30 minutes. We are near the urban pleasures, dining and excitement of Key West and Marathon -- but can remain aloof from in our quiet Barbuda Lane if we choose.
The house is light and airy so we never feel closed in -- but if we feel like taking a walk, there's little traffic and less worldly noise.
I think the best beach in the Keys is Bahia Honda State Park -- just ten minutes away from our home.
Then there is the ocean and all the wonders it bequeaths to those willing to simply take a peek...

"We spent the whole month of August in this beautiful Ramrod Key home. My mouth literally dropped open when I first walked in the home. It is beautiful ! Tile floor in the entry and kitchen, brand new appliances in the kitchen and leather furniture in the living room. The kitchen was fully equipped and I felt like we were arriving in a 5 star resort, including Tervis tumblers in the freezer! Upstairs the bedrooms are huge and everything was immaculate ! The whirlpool bathtub in the master bedroom was a welcome retreat after a day on the water. The owners were very helpful and gracious hosts and I highly recommend their home to anyone wanting a vacation in the Keys.

My family of four, including 2 teenage boys, loved staying here at the end of March 2016. The house is beautiful and clean and had plenty of room for all of us to enjoy our own space. The location is perfect, a short 10-15 minute drive to Bahia Honda State Park to enjoy the beach or 30-40 minute drive to spend a fun day in Key West. The snorkeling tour from the Looe Key Reef Resort and Dive Center was spectacular and just down the street from the rental.
We were guests at Barbuda Dr. In the beginning of March 2016. Our stay was enjoyable, the house was spacious, clean and comfortable. The only detriment was the lack of seating by the dock. Thanks Joe for a great vacation in your home.
We stayed at this property 11/14-21/15 and enjoyed ourselves very much. It is a great location no matter where you are heading in the Keys, and best of all, it is within 15 minutes of the Bahia Honda State Park as well. It is a three story, stilted home, well taken care of. There is plenty of room for two couples to share this home. It has a large master suite upstairs that includes a king bed, attached bathroom with contains two sinks, lovely shower and a turbo tub. This whole area is extremely spacious. The room overlooks the canal and dock, so it always has a pleasant view. The neighborhood is excellent with super next door neighbors, and a safe area to walk every am before it gets too hot. We really enjoyed saying hello to everyone and greeting them and their dogs! The other bedroom has a queen sized bed, with a next door bathroom available. The walk in closet in this room was huge! The kitchen was large and easy to use with an attached dining room, a deck over- looking the canal for coffee and cocktails, and a decent sized living room. There was a very nice utility room with a washer/dryer/utility sink, all in excellent condition. There is also a third bathroom on the lower floor. Everything was clean and mostly available as noted by the description. The owners were very kind, knowledgeable and professional. I would not hesitate renting from them again; Joe stayed in contact and made the transaction seamless. Easy parking was had underneath the home, and the yard was all rocked, with a few silver palms up front and in the back, a very nice little get away with larger palm trees for shade and privacy. The availability to the Looe Key Reef bar and grill, along with the Boondocks Bar, was pretty nice too. Overall a great vacation and a nice rental property.
Just rented Joe's house for the fisrt week of Lobster season 2015. House was as advertised. Very spacious and clean. I was able to dock my 25ft boat behind the house using the end of the canal as my turnaround area. Great location for diving and fishing either the Atlanitc side or through Niles channel to the Gulf side. Great Tiki bar just down the road that we had appetizers and drinks at after the long days diving. Neighbors were very nice and the neighborhood was quiet. I recommend this house and hope to be back next year.
Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful home again, this is the second year in a row and cannot wait to book for next year. We took our 20 foot boat everything was just perfect, clean, spacious and beautiful. Got to catch lot's of fish. Thank you Joe so much!
My wife and I and my two sons came down for some much needed R & R after a particularly harsh Cleveland winter. We were thoroughly pleased with the accommodations. The home is very modern with every conceivable amenity, comfortable furnishings, peaceful and quiet. We rented a 21' boat and the dock space was perfect. It was nice being fairly close to the canal ingress/egress as it made for a quicker trip to the open water and some of the best fishing we have ever had. Lunch most days was Cuban sandwiches from the convenient Five Brothers Grocery enjoyed at nearby Picnic Island. The location of the home also made it easy to have a beautiful day at Bahia Honda beach as well as two memorable visits to Key West. In addition to eating our fresh catch, we enjoyed meals at several close by restaurants including the Boondocks, the Wharf, and pizza at the No Name Pub. Now back at my desk in still thawing Cleveland, I cant help but think that I might be more suited to the laid back, casual lifestyle that thrives in the Lower Keys. I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to owner, Joe for being such a gracious host and for helping us have one of our most memorable family vacations.
Fishing, diving, snorkeling, dining, people-watching, sunning, visiting the eclectic and always-interesting Florida Keys. What's not to like?___________________
PS -- In addition to the above, there are trivia contests at Boondocks, dining elegantly (and expensively!) at Little Palm Island Resort, watching the dolphins, popping up to Marathon for supplies and a Lobster Reuben or other FRESH fish goodie for lunch at Keys Fisheries, and on and on and on...
