As you walk into 'Port's' main level, you are consumed by panoramic views of the harbor. Step out onto the deck and you can smell the ocean air and feel as though you can reach out and touch the boats in the harbor.

The open floor plan allows you to soak in the views whether you're cooking in the kitchen, relaxing in the sitting area or dining at the table with family and friends. The galley-style kitchen has lots of prep and cupboard space and stainless steel appliances. Reminiscent of a yacht, 'Port' has crisp white walls and natural wood accents, including exposed beams and natural wood ceiling, To top it off, this area is tastefully furnished with comfy couches and leather accents. The upper level offers an open loft bedroom with double bed and overstuffed chair. And in the lower level you'll find the master bedroom with hot tub on private patio overlooking the harbor, a full bath with granite sink, laundry and a second bedroom with twin bed plus a twin trundle.

Come to the 'Quiet Side': 'Port' is situated on the shore in the quaint village of Southwest Harbor. From 'Port' you can take a stroll into town and explore unique shops, fabulous restaurants, museums, antique shops, an oceanarium, and much more.. Rent a boat locally or take the water taxi to explore the waters and islands surrounding Mount Desert Island. The condo is also located just minutes from world-famous Acadia National Park, which offers crystal-clear lakes, sandy and rocky beaches, rocky shorelines, beautifully maintained hiking and biking carriage trails, mountains to hike or drive, and so much more. Opportunities for whale watching, boat rentals and charters, fishing, swimming, golf, tennis, shopping, kayaking, hiking, and many more are within minutes.

Away from the Crowds, Close to Everything!: Situated on the 'quiet side' of Mount Desert Island, you can enjoy the real Downeast Maine away from the crowds, but still be within minutes of world-famous Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. You can explore all that the park has to offer by yourself, take a guided tour or take Mount Desert Island's bus, the 'Island Explorer', available to the public free of charge! Destinations include just about anywhere you want to go on the island. There are a number of outfitters located on Mount Desert Island that rent bicycles and kayaks as well. Just fifteen miles to Bar Harbor and you can enjoy a wide variety of activities from the most relaxed to the most rigorous, dining for all tastes and budgets, and shopping in many unique shops and galleries. Regardless of your interests, 'Port' and the surrounding attractions are sure to make for a fulfilling vacation!

Come in the Fall-Beautiful Foliage, lower rates! : The months of September and October are a fabulous time to come to 'Port'. The rates are lower, the crowds have left, the weather is comfortable and the foliage is spectacular!!! Acadia National Park is rated among the best places in the United States to view fall foliage!

Have school-age kids but still want to avoid the crowds? Why not come to 'Port' in June!

Enjoy a picnic on Windward Shore's Private Dock. Watch the activity in the harbor as working lobster and fishing boats mingle with exquisite yachts. When the sun sets behind you, experience a sight unparalleled as the boats in the harbor are illuminated...gorgeous!

Windward Shores is a 3 unit Condominium. (we own 2 units and the 3rd is privately owned by a quiet family.) it is within feet of the shores of Southwest Harbor, with beautiful sloping lawn and private dock. Outside 'Port' you'll find a balcony off the main living area and private patio with hot tub off master bedroom (both overlooking the harbor), sloping lawn to the rocky shore and access to Windward Shores' private dock.

Fabulous hideaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at "Port" was amazing. From the minute we entered and saw the spectacular view of the harbor, to enjoying the comfortable amenities of the property and SWH , the daily adventures of driving around the island, hiking, dining, shopping AND lots and lots and lots of delicious lobster and of the best vacations ever. Having the hot tub was an added bonus , again with that spectacular view. The property is well maintained, offers comfort and felt like a home away from home. The owners/management are highly responsive to your needs. We made a great choice coming here! Couple from Reston, VA

Our family of three had a wonderful week at Port! Great, private location with easy walk to town and all the amenities. We had fun exploring the island overall and enjoyed the hot tub and private dock. We look forward to returning to Port the next time we're in Maine.

Truly Gorgeous View in a Convenient Location

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 with children ages 5, 7 and 9 had a wonderful week at Port. The best part was the view. We all enjoyed watching the activity on the harbor and seeing which vessel would be parked at which slip throughout the week. Even better was the view of amazing sunrises, which were worth waking up for. We enjoyed being able to take the short walk into SWH or the 25-30 min drive to Bar Harbor. The kids really enjoyed our time in Bar Harbor (the shops, MDI Ice Cream, and especially Diver Ed's boat trip) and the parents were grateful to have a very quiet respite away from the hubbub of the bigger town. We had fun adventures to Bass Harbor light (go at sunset!) plus hikes at nearby Flying Mountain (without the kids) and Ship Harbor (with them). Other highlights were Pirate's Cove mini golf and kayaking on Long Pond. Milagro and Sips are nice options for coffee. The service and food at nearby Upper Deck and Grumpy's (breakfast) left a bit to be desired but it's nice to be able to grab a meal super close by. We had a couple of small issues (oven door not closing properly and hot tub having too many chemicals) and Jane was quick to respond. The condo is well equipped and we were very comfortable. We would love to go back and stay at Port someday!

We had a fabulous time at Port! The condo was beyond our expectations - we were so pleased. We loved the hot tub and the chimineo and the view was spectacular! We kept our whaler at the dock and had a great time bombing around Southwest & Somes Sound. We will be back!!

Wonderful View on the quiet side of Acadia

  • 5 of 5

Had a great stay at Port. The condo was exactly as advertised. It was perfect for out party of 2 couples and another adult. After a day of hiking and sight seeing, we enjoyed dinner at Port and chillaxing, and some time in the Hot Tub.

Glad we stayed in lovely Southwest Harbor. Visited Bar Harbour.... way to crowded. Plenty of great restaurants close to Port.

Did a sailing dinner cruise with Sail Acadia( 5 minute walk from Port) to Little Cranberry Island's Isleford Dock Restaurant. What an experience!!

Plenty of great hikes within in a short drive from Port. Defiantly recommend this excellent vacation rental.

Cozy getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here for a week so we could be close to Acadia National Park and get time in the evenings to spend together. Jane was very welcoming and provided us a local map, directions to the local restaurants and grocery stores, and more than enough kitchen appliances and accessories. We were able to do laundry before we left, grill out on the patio, and walk to the private dock. The details were thought out and the home was very comfortable for a family of four. Would highly recommend, but would advise that the basement gets very cold so bring sweaters and socks!
