Years ago I went back to Italy the land I was born in and grew up.I have lived my adult life in the USA ,my home of nearly forty years . The visit tho the land i was born in, where I went to school created a feeling of yearning , an ache, that would linger and augment thru the years.I fell in love with the little house on the hill ,recognized its potential so I,convinced my cousin to sell it to me and by miracle her mother agreed to have me purchase it;she had been reluctant to sell to others so many times before...My dream came thru and with enthusiasm I proceeded to transform the Little house into Villarosa the jewel it is now.
The results exceeded any expectation:the peace of a countryside and the nearness of the attractions and activities is enough to delight the needs for tranquillity and action at the same time
Every time I visit Villarosa I feel restored ,at peace with myself, close to my roots and to the people I love and love me back.
I have some regrets in my life ,Villarosa is the culmination of my dream to reconnect,to belong.
Several guests have visited Villarosa in their quest of finding their roots, the launching pad their families left for other shores.Helping them find their roots gives me much joy.
Others come to enjoy the 'National Park of the Aspromonte',trekking, escursions tours, offer the visitors the opportunity to reconnect with nature.Cyclers come to the area from all over Europe, some have contacted us from Australia, others come for the nearby beaches, the Ionic sea all enjoy the rich medieval heritage of Gerace, and the archeological treasures of Locri.

Beautiful, serene surroundings both inside and out! The wonderfully appointed interior was completely furnished, very comfortable and met all of out needs. The views from the top floor of the villa were magnificent. On the grounds of Villarosa, we found olive trees, pomegranate trees, lime trees and persimmon bushes. We found the people of Gerace and Locri to be very friendly and helpful especially since we had minimal command of the Italian language. The food and wine were thoroughly enjoyed. One of our favorite restaurants was San Souci in Locri. Another restaurant that was easy to find with great food was La Terrazza. It was just up the road from Villarosa. Found and enjoyed a local red wine called Terre Di Gerace. My husband and I ventured out on our own to find the many museums, archeological sites, and churches in Southern Italy and ,again, found people willing and able to help us find our way. We rented a small diesel, manual shift car that worked great on the very curvy roads. We found so much to do that we will need to return to this wonderful place called Villarosa!
We had a wonderful time during our visit at this outstanding villa. The villa was extremely clean and well stocked with all your needs. If you are looking for luxurious accommodations in peaceful quiet surroundings this is the place for you. If driving, make sure to rent a small car - narrow roads.
Loved the stunning views of the Sea and rugged mountains! Beautifully kept villa. I would recommend this to anyone staying in Calabria.
Villa Rosa was a haven of scenic views. With three balconies and a separate terrace that overlooked picturesque rolling hills, vineyards, and olive groves ending at the Iona Sea, there was little need to leave this marvelously equipped, comfortable, and clean villa. Everything one could think of was on hand and at the ready at this lovely vacation home. Nearby Gerace is a gem, as well. We were four adults traveling together and there was plenty of room to find a space of one's own, but lots of areas that were perfect for sharing a glass of wine or a meal together. The four of us are unanimous in recommending that others go experience this great space and lovely house. You won't be disappointed!
WE LOVED IT: CENTRAL LOCATION, WELL KEPT AND WELL EQUIPPED HOUSE, HELPFUL MANAGER
