If you need a break from the sun or want to make the most of the cooling breezes, perch on the porch--morning, noon or night it's a lovely spot.

Beyond the beach, there are dunes to hike nearby, antiquing, kayak excursions, charter boats, fishing and more. About Jennifer Lynch

After years of renting cottages on Smith Beach, we built his property 6 years ago. Smith Beach and the Eastern Shore is a very special place I have been coming to all my life. My husband and I began bringing our children when they were babies to splash in the warm shallow water and play in the sand. They have grown up coming every summer, bringing friends, enjoying the water, sun and local activities. It is now a family tradition and we hope that you will come and discover what we love so much about Smith Beach and the Eastern Shore of Virginia!

Jennifer Lynch purchased this house in 2010

Why Jennifer Lynch chose Cape Charles

Slightly elevated on a bluff, it has the best views on Smith Beach and catches the breeze off the water. With woods to the south and only two neighbors visible, it is extremely private, especially on the beach. Some days you won't see anyone!

What makes this house unique

There aren't many places where your have your own 100 feet of private beach that is safe and quiet for children of all ages, where you have a clean, comfortably furnished and affordable home, and where you face west and enjoy stunning sunsets almost nightly. This combined with the many local activities, seafood and charm of the Easter Shore, makes for a one-of-a-kind retreat any time of year.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our kids loved playing in the water, seeing minnows, crabs, hermit crabs. We took a couple of trips to the sandbar. Much laughter and fun over dinners. We loved your interior design choices. The Smith Beach Sandbar was magic. Thanks for the wonderful experience on the bay!

Shallow water extends a long way and is ideal for young children. You can enjoy the beach while they make sand castles, hunt for shells or chase seagulls. There are two pilings in the water in front of our property for tying up your boat. A free community boat ramp is approx. 100 yds down the street. There is room on our property to park your trailer. The kitchen has all amenities. Washer and dryer are located on the ground level. There is a landline phone for local calls and it has free long distance since cell phone coverage can be spotty. Chairs are provided for the Lido Deck (porch), but you will need your own beach chairs.

Peaceful and Relaxing Retreat !!!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time on our vacation. The house had everything we needed and really felt like a home not just a rental property. It was decorated really nice and we absolutely loved the view from the master bedroom and the main living area! The private beach was perfect and my kids loved it. It was so nice to get away from it all and enjoy quality family time.

It was the best place ever.

  • 5 of 5

I visited with friends and family and girlfriends and it was ALL wonderful! Even when the windy weather kept us inside you could still enjoy the water and the glorious sunset. Watched wind surfers catching the gusty winds of Hurricane Maria and eagles flying from the sand bar. Next time I visit I will bring my own two kayaks to use with the one at the cottage so more of us can paddle to the sand bar. Several of us were walkers so the long, fairly empty roads were perfect for 2 mile trips. It was fun looking at all the different cottages.

It was so nice not to have to bring sheets and towels and paper towels, trash bags, toilet paper, soaps, dish towels-- just beach towels and beach chairs. But we stayed up on the aloha deck most of the time, except the couple of times we got in the water.

Such a great, private, roomy, comfortable place with to die for views. Can't wait to stay again next fall.

Perfect for little ones!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this house and location. The beach was perfect for my 3 year old son to explore. We caught fish and hermit crabs in the shallow water. We took a crab pot with us and were able to use the kayak to set it out. We ended up with 8 blue crabs overnight! The house was clean and had all the amenities that were needed. Thank you for sharing your lovely vacation home!

You need to bring nothing......just food!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing stay. All the appliances, cleaners, and laundry soap were already there so we didn't have to pack them. They house was beautiful, and the beach was beyond anything we could have asked for. The only downside is that our vacation went by to quickly! Thank you again for letting us stay at your beautiful home!

Comfortable house on fantastic private beach

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a confortable home to have a quiet break, this is the place. All the amenities of home, but tucked along a quaint quiet beach road. The best part is the private beach right on the Chesapeake Bay. The water is so warm and calm. There are crabs and snails and fish to watch. My girls loved snorkeling and seeing the different creatures that came and went with the tide. Fantastic seafood is only 15 min away. Bring some games and relax and have a nice family vacation away from all the noise and distractions.
