Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)
We bought are first timeshare at Pono Kai 20 years ago and fell in love with the resort and location. We dreamed of spending a major portion of our retirement on Kauai and bought 6 weeks of timeshare over the years. Finally, our real dream came true when we were able to purchase one of the few privately owned units at the resort. We still own 2 weeks in a 2 bedroom and one week in a 1 bedroom with a loft timeshare so we can share our love with friends and family.

2 Nights in Kapa’a
We had a great stay in C-102, December 2020. Great spot right on the water, quiet and close to the shops and restaurants in downtown Kapa’a. Highly recommend this end unit condo. Well equipped kitchens and all the pictures are accurate. Would definitely stay here again. Wilson & Sheila Winn
The condo's ocean front location, as well as the unit’s location at the resort, gives easy access to the parking lot, swimming pool, game areas, workout rooms, barbecue areas, laundry room and main office. The Front Desk in the main office is open 24 hours a day. For visitors convenience there is an ATM and a designated printer for boarding passes. Near the main office is the Hospitality Suite (K102). It is available for guests with early arrivals and/or late departures. In K102 there is a locked room for luggage, a sitting area with TV, refrigerators and a restroom.
Family vacation 2019
We had 16 family members from four families, plus 3 month old in four units for a vacation we had talked about for years. Everyone agreed It was a wonderful time.
So glad that your family vacation was memorable. There are many family-friendly activities on Kauai. Lydgate Beach Park (east shore) and Poipu Beach (south shore) are two of the several family beaches. Lydgate has two man-made protected pools and lifeguards on duty. It also has amazing play areas, good parking and nice facilities. Poipu has lifeguards on duty every day and is known for calmer waters and a playground for children.
Another family excursion is a 40 minute train ride through the 105 acre former sugar cane Kilohana Plantation. During the train ride some history of the plantation is given, as well as information about the various types of produce that are growing on the grounds. There are opportunities to stop and feed the animals.
At the Na ‘Āina Kai Botanical Garden, in Kilauea, visitors can feed fish in the Ka’ula Lagoon, walk through the full-sized hedge maze, play in the Children’s Garden with a rubber tree treehouse, explore a tropical jungle with bridges, tunnels, slides and enjoy a child-sized railroad train.
Excellent location and updated unit
Great walking/bike trail right outside the unit. Very clean ,comfortable and updated accommodations. Walk to shops and restaurants, excellent location.
Mahalo for your review. In addition to the shops and restaurants in Kapa’a Town, there is the nearby and newly renovated Coconut Marketplace in Kapa’a. It is an open-air shopping village with an eclectic mix of stores and casual dining choices. There is something for everyone. Also, every Tuesday and Thursday, it is home to a Farmer’s Market in the parking lot from 9am to 1pm. On Wednesdays at 5pm and 1pm on Saturdays visitors can enjoy a free Hula Show. On Fridays at 5pm you can be entertained with free beautiful and relaxing music by Larry Rivera. Listings for additional activities and entertainment can be found on the Coconut Marketplace calendar.
We enjoyed our stay since ther location was so close to so many activities. The condo felt like home and were would definitely stay again.
Pono Kai Resort’s location is close to many activities. Kapa’a maintains its small town appeal, even in light of its many local shops and restaurants. At the eastern end of town, the peaceful, long and winding Wailua River cuts through the mountains and opens into the ocean. On the river visitors can find kayaking, waterfall exploration, boating and water skiing. Set along the Wailua River is Smith’s Tropical Paradise, a 30-acre complex showcasing both Hawaii’s local flora and more exotic species, too. The complex also hosts weekly luaus complete with entertainment and traditional foods.
The property was nice and had all the things we needed. The only thing that was hard was the weather, it was wet a lot but warm.
At any given time, the island can have many different weather conditions. If it is rainy in one place, you can travel to a different area and find some sun. On the south shore rainfall is less frequent. A favorite visitor stop is Spouting Horn, a small lava shelf where water from the waves is thrust through an opening causing the water and air to squirt out a blowhole. It is often more dramatic at high tide. On large south-swell days, the spray can exceed 30 feet.
Also, located in the Poipu resort area, just past Koloa town, are the Shops at Kukui’ula. It showcases the architecture of Hawaii’s plantation past. It is home to unique shops, restaurants and art galleries. On Wednesdays there is Kauai’s Culinary Market and on Fridays Kanikapila celebrates Kauai’s local musicians and artists.
