Perfect Lake House for our Family vacation
Lots of great things to say about this wonderful lake house! It was easy to find, driveway easily accommodated all our cars. Lovely front porch. Security system helped us feel extra safe- although the neighborhood is excellent. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our big family meals. The living room had plenty of seating- all very comfortable. The wall of windows looking out to the lake was nice. The trees block most of the view of the actual water but still very nice. My aunt, who has mobility issues, stayed on the main floor and had everything she needed. The younger folks stayed on the bottom floor where the air hockey table, big tv and an extra fridge was- perfect space for them:)
We rented a boat for a few days so it was very convenient to have a dock right there on the property.
Wendy was super helpful and easy to communicate with. Hope we can rent again from her.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review of our property! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and that everyone was able to have a great time! We hope you come back again!
Nice getaway with little kids
We stayed here as an extended family that included 2 grandparents, 4 parents, 2 toddlers and 2 newborns. The layout was good for our group despite the odd sleeping arrangements that occur with small children. The two rooms with the smaller beds are on the main level and are across the hall from each other - one has a bathroom in it. One of our families with babies stayed in these two rooms. The grandparents stayed in the master on the same floor (but far enough not to hear babies at night). The living room had plenty of space for the toddlers to play.
Our second family with babies stayed in the basement that has a king bedroom with crib and adjacent bedroom with a futon. I forgot to check if crib sheet was provided since we brought a bassinet. The bathroom is outside of the bedroom, but very close. More hangout space (couches, game area, two TVs) was located on this level.
We really enjoyed spending time at the dock and having the toddlers swim in the quiet cove. There is a table and space to hang out in the sun or shade. After a season of good rainfall, the cove was about 5-15 feet deep. We all enjoyed floating peacefully. The bugs were surprisingly not bad at all.
The house was very, very clean and the kitchen was well stocked. We used the electric stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and a crock pot (we brought our own crock pot). The oven went out on us partway through, but I believe the owners are repairing it now. The grill could benefit from an extra propane tank so that one could be full while the other is in use (in case you run out while grilling). The owners are clear that it is up to you to check/fill the propane if you want to grill.
This house may not be the right fit if anyone in your group needs to work or otherwise check in with the outside world. We were surprised to find that there is no internet connection, and no telephone land line. The folks in our group that had T-mobile had no cell service, but those that had AT&T and Verizon did, so we were able to set up hotspots from their phones to check email/texts using patchy, cell-based connections. For emergency purposes, there ought to at least be a landline in the event that cell service is not available.
I'll also note that there was no paddle boat out for use (maybe it was in the shed?) and no DVD player in the living room on the main level (perhaps there was one in the basement?). There were two large tubes provided at the dock.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a nice review of our property! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and that everyone was able to have a great time!
Great house, plenty of room
Lots for the kids to do down stairs, very pretty setting as well.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed your stay!!!
Great getaway home
The home was perfect for a weekend getaway for our family. The home was clean and had all we needed for a long weekend but we were disappointed in the depth of the water for this lakefront property. There was really no way to enjoy the lake based on how shallow the water was at the dock and perhaps if the water level is at full pool that would be different for guests in the future.
Overall though we really enjoyed the home and our stay.
More or less as advertised. Modest, comfortable, few frills.
Well it wasn't our first choice but it looked like the best thing still available a couple months out from the eclipse. The house was easy to get into, the gated community had their gate permanently open, and it was on a narrow finger of the lake close to the interstate. Unfortunately, the lake was so low that you couldn't get a boat into the dock.
Ammentities were very sparse in this house. At least the rentor did inform us that we'd have to bring pretty much everything with us. I will say that the kitchen had some decent pots and utensils but you have to bring everything else from salt and pepper to ALL paper goods and trash bags. And I think we hade 6 dinner plates which was odd for a house that slept 8.
All in all, it's a fine house and the owners/ rentors were easy to deal with. I'd say it is priced properly, just don't expect a lot of luxury.
Great value for the price!
If you're looking for a 'get away from everyone and everything' property then this is the place to escape to. It's situated in a quiet gated community at the end of an inlet on Lake Hartwell. The property is perched high above the lake surrounded by trees, so nice and private. There is a steep path leading to and from the lake but my inlaws, who are in their 70s, managed to climb it each time with no trouble. We had 8 adults and our border collie staying and there were ample space for us all without feeling on top of each other. The house was clean and well stocked with kitchen utensils. Plenty of tables and chairs for us all to sit outside to eat. Nearest grocery store is about a 20 minute drive away (Ingles in West Anderson, offering great customer service!). If you don't fancy cooking, we highly recommend J Peters in Anderson (30 minuete drive) awesome food and service. All in all a fab week in a great place and location, even our dog loved it, spending most of his time swimming with us in the lake.
