The Keaau area is the jumping off point to see the Kilauea Lava Flow. Our home is the perfect spot to relax after a day of sightseeing. Our beautiful 3 bedroom 2 bath home has every thing you need in your home away from home. Granite counters and teak cabinets and an open layout make it a retreat to rest after a long day sightseeing. The backyard is surrounded by an Ohia forest, creating a place of serenity and privacy while cooling off in the in- ground pool. In the evening light up a fire in the outdoor fire pit and enjoy roasting marshmallows while gazing at the stars.

The home is located just 2 blocks from the ocean, where you can walk along the cliffs and trails. In the winter whale watching on the cliffs is a popular local past time.

The nearby historic towns of Kea`au and Pahoa both have restaurants, grocery stores and farmers markets. The snorkeling areas in Kapoho, the hot ponds and the lava viewing area in Kalapana are all with in 20-30 minutes from the home.

. The master suite opens out in onto the lanai surrounding the pool. It has a private bathroom and shower. The Kingsize bed has a Vera Wang memory Foam Mattress. You''ll want to lounge in bed all day. The two additional bedrooms share a full bath, one bedroom has a queensize bed and the other a full size bed. Plenty of room to share with friends and family. This is a nonsmoking home.

Just 15-20 minutes away from the Kalapana Lava Viewing area.

This home is NOT to be rented for parties, large gatherings, family reunions etc.. There is a maximum of 6 people including children allowed in the home. The home is perfect for romantic getaways, family vacations.

Please note Hawaii is in the tropics. We have bugs, geckos, and the Big Island has coqui frogs whose mating call can be heard at night.

The privacy is important as well as being in the 'sun belt'. This lot was so unique as it backed up to a beautiful forest of Ohia. The natural wall prevents any neighbors from being behind us, so the privacy is amazing.

What makes this house unique

Peace and tranquility. My favorite thing to do is to light a campfire and watch the stars. The area is mostly vacation homes and private homes so it's great to be able to walk or bike around without any traffic.

Magical Spot in the Rainforest

I can't say enough about this beautiful house. The kitchen is as well appointed as my own including sharp knives, what a treat! The pool is salt water, clean and the perfect temperature. The house clean beyond my wildest imaginings, with many towels, nice sheets and comfortable beds. Frankly, it was hard to leave and go explore the island. The house is located in a perfect spot not far from the attractions in the area. Don't miss Uncle Robert's farmers market, fun, music, vendors and local produce. We spent a lot of time at the hot pools, tide flats and volcano national parks. We will be back, hopefully Maureen will let us come. Thank you for the wonderful, relaxing stay. Amazing home on an breathtaking island

Aloha Maureen,

You have an amazing home. It is perfectly located close to Hilo, Volcano, Mauna Kea, and so on. The pool was perfect to start and finished a day after a lot of side seeing.

In the beginning, we are not sure if it could be a problem during sleeping without an air conditioning. But also this was brilliant solved with the roof fans. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. After the two weeks of our stay we missing the frogs before we fall in sleep :-)

Thanks again we come back to your beautiful island.

Great retreat location!

The house sits back from the road so there is no traffic noise. With the windows and doors open you can hear the couqi frogs at night and birds as the sun comes up. It is so peaceful and and a welcomed relief from the normal hustle and bustle of resorts. Ear plugs are provided if the sounds are not for you. The pool and yard area is wonderful and well maintained. Everything you need is right there for preparing meals. Beds are comfortable. The house is not far from main roads and an easy drive to Hilo or to see the volcano. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it if you want a place to get away from it all.

The Perfect Place to Stay on The Big Island

First, let me tell you the property is fantastic and the owners have pretty much ensured the house has everything you might need, from pool floats to flat rate boxes for shipping. The best part, all of the main light switches are labeled which might sound like such a small thing but if you are unfamiliar with a house, it is a godsend.

The house is gorgeous, the pool is fantastic for night time bobbing about and the location is perfect--close enough to Hilo town to grab things but far enough away you are under a blanket of stars in the evening. You can get to Kalapana, Pahoa and Volcano in a short amount of time, over to Kona on Saddle very quickly and the owners have provided a fantastic property for you to come home to. If you just want to grab something quick, Blaine's Drive Inn is on Orchidland for a plate lunch and there's a Wikimart and gas station right next door. Maku'u Farmers' Market is on Sundays so if you're staying over on a weekend, you will be close by to stop in and browse.

I highly recommend this property. The owners are informative, communicative and professional. You cannot ask for a better place to stay on the Big Island.

Impressive, clean inviting house

This was our second stay here and we were very happy. Only negative was the weather but that is something you learn to deal with. It's Hawaii.
