This cozy little 3 bedroom cottage is 'on neck' of the peninsula of Castine. Less than 1 mile from Downtown Castine, and 1/2 a mile to the golf course, lighthouse, or Maine Maritime Academy.
Just cross the street for a fabulous dinner and drinks at the Manor, or take a short walk down town to dine at Dennett's, or Markell's, or grab a drink and some prime rib at Danny Murphy's. Castine is a short distance to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, Deer Isle, Stonington, and many other beautiful Maine spots. Come visit!
All three bedrooms have queen sized beds. Master bedroom has it's own bath. Two guest bedrooms share a bathroom.
Sunflower Cottage has a wood burning fireplace for cooler summer evenings, and a covered stone patio with a partial water view, perfect for morning coffee.
Everything you can think of is provided. We deliver the same cleanliness and comfort that we would expect at a hotel. Flat screen TV, blue ray player with Netflix are provided. There is baseboard heat for cooler nights, and fans for warmer summer days. Maine can be unpredictable in the summer, we like to be prepared!
Please contact me regarding pets: they are welcome as long as they are treated for fleas and ticks, and are house trained. An additional fee may be charged for cleaning.
This cottage shares a lot with VRBO Rental #481395 - so if you need more space you can bring friends and family along and be right next door!
*Please note that the cottages are actually located on the corner of Battle Ave and La Tour street - not on Madockawando as the VRBO map shows.
I am currently living in Montreal working in the VFX industry. I love city life but miss the feeling of community that only a small town can offer. I was raised all over the world, but Castine is my home. Summer in Castine is my favorite place to be, and I've lived in Hawaii! Nothing compares to Maine in the summer, the smell of lilacs and ocean, and the people in Maine are the nicest I've ever met. If you haven't been, you should visit!
Alice purchased this cottage in 2008
My family has lived in Castine for over 30 years. I purchased this property in 2008, wanting to invest in the town I love, and in a home for myself and my family. It is right across the street from the house I grew up in, so I can vouch for how amazing the neighbors are! The property boasts two small cottages, both available for rent through VRBO.
Castine is a wonderful place to come and unwind. The town is just big enough to offer some fabulous dining in the summer months, yet the location shelters the town from too much summer traffic. The people here are lovely and friendly. Within an hours drive are some of the most desirable views and amenities Maine has to offer: Bar Harbor, Camden, Acadia National Park. Even closer are numerous beaches and lakes for swimming, kayaking, and sailing. The cottage itself is simple, but clean and charming. I try to keep rental costs low - as most summer rentals in Castine go for more than 1500 dollars a week. My neighbors are all wonderful, including my parents who live across the street. Castine is a very tight community, and very accepting. Dinner parties are a favorite pastime here.
Castine is a short distance to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Stonington, and many other beautiful Maine destinations. You haven't seen Maine, until you've seen Down East Maine. Come visit!
