The Owner purchased this house in 2004
Home built new in 2004. Family currently lives in Texas to be near careers and family.
The home is quiet, secluded and very comfortable. The owner was very quick to respond to questions. Very nice experience!
This was a beautiful vacation home. From our youngest 3 year old grand daughters to us old folkes! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to relax during the chaos of preparing for our youngest daughters wedding.
The house is in a good location to be close enough to Montrose for shopping and groceries, but also close enough to Ouray to take advantage of the things to do there. The house is huge. Bigger than the photos depict. We had plenty of room. The views from the porch and the upstairs loft are great. We rented the house because we were in town for a funeral. If we get the opportunity to meet as a family in Montrose under happier circumstances we would without a doubt try to rent this house again. There is no wifi, but we had no trouble getting calls/texts (using Verizon as our carrier). If you stay here you will have everything that you need and the house is very clean.
We were two families, two children each, and there was PLENTY of room. It's in a great secluded location, yet really close to Ridgeway and a great distance to Ouray. The drive from this house to Ouray was BEAUTIFUL!! Coffee on the big deck watching the sun rise and set was so relaxing.
We had a family reunion with 9 people sleeping comfortably in this home. Some of the beds are in private rooms, others are in a little more open spaces (in the loft and basement). There was plenty of room to spread out whether for group activities or splitting into separate groups or even just finding some space to be alone. We loved the terrace that wraps around the house. The location feels quite isolated, but shopping in Montrose is only 20 minutes away. Ouray and Telluride are both pretty close and well worth the visit. Black Canyon National Park is just past Montrose.
We were there in July. The days were warm and the evenings were cool. We had no trouble keeping the temperature in the home comfortable. We knew in advance that there was no wifi and that cell phone coverage would be spotty. That added to the sense of remoteness and (frankly) tranquility. We did bring a couple of DVDs to play on the TVs for the kids. The home was clean and the decor well appointed. The kitchen is fully equipped, there's a gas barbecue on the terrace, a basketball hoop in the yard and plenty of chairs and comfortable couches to lounge around in both inside and out.
The owners (Matt and Lori) were always quick to reply to emails and there's a local contact if you have any questions. We had a great visit and would be happy to stay here again!
This a beautiful area with a stunning shot of the San Juans right off the deck. We were there in the winter which is previously not a very rented time for this place, so covered in snow, it was a fun experience.
Usually we wouldn't care about certain things such as tv size, but since it was bowl game season we wish for a larger screen than 19". But that became a nonissue as we spent most time playing games at the table.
3 bedrooms/ 3 baths and beds for 10 made it comfortable for the 9 of us- 3 couples and 3 kids.
Furniture a bit outdated and no wifi, but once again, it became a nonissue if you know how to have a good time. If you're picky about those things, this may not be the place for you.
We snowshoed and did some low speed sledding down the drive, but we're told to watch for big cats, so we were always alert.
All in all, we would do this cabin/house again. Great owners that were very helpful when we had questions or needed anything.
