This a beautiful area with a stunning shot of the San Juans right off the deck. We were there in the winter which is previously not a very rented time for this place, so covered in snow, it was a fun experience.
Usually we wouldn't care about certain things such as tv size, but since it was bowl game season we wish for a larger screen than 19". But that became a nonissue as we spent most time playing games at the table.
3 bedrooms/ 3 baths and beds for 10 made it comfortable for the 9 of us- 3 couples and 3 kids.
Furniture a bit outdated and no wifi, but once again, it became a nonissue if you know how to have a good time. If you're picky about those things, this may not be the place for you.
We snowshoed and did some low speed sledding down the drive, but we're told to watch for big cats, so we were always alert.
All in all, we would do this cabin/house again. Great owners that were very helpful when we had questions or needed anything.
My husband & I stayed here for our weekend getaway. The main purpose was to find a quiet place for us to make day trips to Ouray, Silverton & Telluride. This was a excellent choice. Communications with Matt & Lori were answered quickly for us to make decisions. They were very accommodating to work with us for arrival/departure. Sheila, their caretaker, stopped what they were doing to personally come to the property to help us gain access to the property, answer last minute questions & give us directions to our destinations. For us, this was exactly what we needed for quick access to our mini-road trips. The views heading south of the property were breathtaking! Recent snows highlighted the majestic mountain range & we couldn't stop taking pics & videos...
The only downfalls are lack of internet (which is out of their control-we used our hot spot) & limited dish channels. We made do & will keep that in mind for our next visit & bring movies. Thanks again, Matt & Lori for sharing your property with us.
The decor is perfect for the setting. We enjoyed (preferred) being a 15 minute drive from Ridgway, nestled in the pinyons and junipers. Very comfortable. We were lucky to have a lunar eclipse to view from the deck, but even without that it's nice and relaxing out there on your own.
An unbelievable Property.
The owners are very trustworthy and the property is amazing.
1) Secluded. We wanted to be away from people and not hear anyone. But the property is close enough to the main street for easy access.
2) Mountain Veiws. We sat on the porch every morning, drank coffee and watched the sunrise hit the mountains.
3) Close to Montrose. About a 20min drive from Montrose where you can go to the store if you need anything.
4) Close to Ridgway and Ouray. Both are awesome little mountain towns. Ouray is a must.
5) Cabin Amenities. The cabin has everything you need: linens, pots/pans, tv, grill with propane, etc.
6) Cabin is very clean. Never worried about anything being dirty.
1) You will not want to leave.
We spent 4 nights here, nothing but a great experience at this place.
Everything was what you would expect. It is about 40 minutes outside of Ouray...that could be a positive or negative depending on what you're going for. Not many people around and very quiet off the beaten path. Nothing extravagant but very well done and taken care of property. The large deck is great for looking at the mountains during the day and the stars at night. We had plenty of room for 10 people. The upstairs bedrooms didn't have doors so noise from downstairs was a bit of a problem for getting my kids to bed. Also, no internet was sort of a bummer. The positives far outweigh the few negatives (I don't give 5 stars unless things are perfect) and everyone in our party was very satisfied with our stay. I definitely recommend this house as a reasonable getaway for a larger group.
We had a wonderful stay during the Labor Day holiday. The home is quiet and secluded, yet only 15-20 minutes to Ridgway or Montrose. The house is very comfy and it was nice to relax after long days of adventure. One point: bring some dvd's (we rented a few from Redbox) if you intend to watch tv at night - channel selection was limited, although it didn't bother us since we weren't there much! There is no internet at the house but our phones (Verizon) worked fine and service good. Trips to Ouray and Telluride are musts if time permits. We live in Northern Colorado and this area of the state has much to offer, including the best scenery! We would stay here again and recommend it highly. Thanks!
