We moved to Salida to be near our grandchildren and to enjoy the outdoors. We are lovers of Argentine tango, so we built a dance studio here, and teach classes to build a tango dance community. Dvora is a well known artist. She paints in our new studio attached to the dance hall. You will see her work on the walls of your vacation home.
Steve is a retired ski instructor. He enjoys Monarch Mountain Ski resort which is an easy 25 minutes away. Our grandkids love having a private ski instructor.
Dvora Kanegis purchased this condo in 2011
We saw the potential in this 100 year old brick row house by the river. Renovating is like a three dimensional art project. It has been fun restoring the old wood moldings, keeping the charm, making it comfortable and beautiful.
We love it here so much and want to share it with our friends, family, visiting tango dancers, and you.
Salida has developed the trail system that begins 2 minutes from our door. You can wake early to hike or jump on your bike and head up 'S' Mountain'. The view of the valley is spectacular. Afterwords, walk to brunch by the river or sip coffee at one of our great coffee shops.
Salida is quite flat and delightful to see by bicycle. We have 2 very good adult mountain bikes for your use. They have quick release seats to adjust to your height.
We have supplied our guest house with several bottles of wine from our wonderful local winery, Vino Salida, for purchase. Check out their daily wine tasting.
There are several hot springs near Salida, and a hot springs pool in town They are perfect for after skiing or hiking. Mount Princeton Hot Springs and Salida Hot Springs Pool are great for kids as well as adults.
Riverside Park, which is just around the corner, has a playground, a climbing wall, amphitheater, and many summer events: live music, carnival, dancing, etc.
You will want to visit Culture Clash, a wonderful art gallery which features jewelry and art. Our daughter, Nicole has her jewelry studio there. Her work, as well as other local artists is worth checking out.
What is special about our guest house and Salida??? Come and find out.
We enjoyed a perfectly quiet and extremely comfortable weekend here. This unit is tasteful and immaculate. Loved the proximity to restaurants and the river!
We really enjoyed our stay at this vacation home. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and it was the perfect place to do so. Easy walk to shopping and restaurants, comfortable accommodations, great backyard for enjoying the sunset and a short walk to the river and park. Trout fishing was also good in the area in early October, and we cooked a trout dinner while staying at Dvora's! The kitchen is well stocked, the bed was comfortable, and the gas log stove was warm and inviting on cool autumn evenings! The home was very clean and detail-oriented, complete with Dvora's own artwork! We plan to be back to this historic and well-kept home.
The experience overall was incredible. Loved the accommodations, very clean, especially loved the bedroom, bed so comfy, enjoyed Dvora's paintings. Felt very comfortable, loved having the patio & grill. Did not have want for anything, kitchen well stocked with dishes etc, bathroom also. Enjoyed the use of the bicycles. Love Salida!!
I would highly recommend this property. Dvora & daughter very kind & have a great place to stay!!
We really loved our time at the house and in Salida. We stayed for 5 nights. The house is cute and comfortable and very nicely decorated. Perfect for 3 people (a couple and child). There is a nice patio in the back and we ate meals there often, and used the grill. My only complaint is that some of the pans should be replaced, especially the nonstick ones that have seen better days. Everything else in the house was perfect! We came home to hummingbirds everyday, enjoying the pretty flowers by the front steps and also in the backyard. We met some of the neighbors who are very nice and also quiet. The house is located in a great location a block from the river and the river park and just a few blocks from the town center and grocery store. We walked everywhere, and also loved having the mountain bikes in the shed. We rented a bike for our son for $12/day right in town, so we all had bikes and could enjoy the trails right from town. There is so much to do in and around Salida. Great rafting right from town, or just enjoy watching the rafts and kayakers go by. We enjoyed Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, although it's a little pricey, and going up Monarch Pass in a gondola is not to be missed (open summer only). There are so many hikes to choose from and all are beautiful. Also Cottonwood Lake is a popular spot for fishing and kayaking. Had a great meal at River's Edge, which has lovely outdoor seating on the river, and live music. Looking forward to going back to Salida in the future, and would be happy to stay at Devorah's house again.
This was a great space, with plenty of room both inside and out. The backyard was well set up and great for enjoying Salida's summer weather. I actually got ready for my wedding in the house, and there was plenty of room while also feeling intimate. Good character. Thank you!
This was our fourth stay at Dvora's property in Salida. The house is only a couple blocks from downtown, but is very quiet. Well-maintained, clean, and has everything we need including two bikes. We'll be back.
