My husband and I stayed here for our 25th wedding anniversary. The views and house are incredible, the gardner was so friendly and kind, and the owners were great. It was our own private paradise.
All of the great reviews about the house are true and the pictures on the site do not do it justice. The house is fantastic and across the road from Montezuma Falls as well as the Anamaya resort that offers yoga/massage which was a nice treat. The town itself is a couple of minutes away and we loved visiting the different restaurants – our favorite was Cocolores where the fresh fish and relaxed ambiance was beyond compare. We initially planned to stay a few days but between the house and town of Montezuma we extended our stay. We even volunteered at the Montezuma beach Turtle Hatchery.
Lora, the manager was extremely helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. Our kids, aged 6, 8 and 14 LOVED the layout of the house and the pool. We were daily visited by Howler monkeys, hummingbirds and coatis.
There is plenty to do in Montezuma (Zuma tours was fantastic + Young Vision surf school) and the fact that we had such an amazing location made it even more memorable. We will be back.
Breathtaking. Most be the best place in all of Montezuma. So much to enjoy. The gardens and the view are amazing. Truly paradise. The house is relaxing and spacious. I love the inside-outside living. Even the bedrooms and baths are large. I love the pool just a few steps away. The reason I choose to vacation in Montezuma was the feeling of being chose to nature and this place has it all. The jungle with the monkeys and birds was like living in harmony with nature. The location is just the right distance away from town and was very safe with the security of a gate and the caretaker is close by. And not to forget the night gazing at the stars and the night sounds of the jungle. Great place to do yoga. Couldn't ask for more.
We were wowed as we drove through the gate.... what a lovely property! Where to start. My dad plunked himself in one of the loungers in the rancho as soon as we got there, and stayed put for 4 hours. View is incredible! Ocean, jungle, and the lovely house. And there are several equally wonderful places to park yourself with a good book and/or binoculars. The covered veranda is 20 ft wide, wrapping three sides of the house -- a pair of comfy leather rocking chairs on one side looking out over the garden and ocean; a hammock over the canopy of a stream valley (neat trail to follow down to do some exploring there); and a super comfy couch, that we all probably dozed off on at one point, looking out over the pool and the ocean. There is also a beautiful dining table under the veranda (we exchanged the tree stump seats for the formal dining chairs in the kitchen). The stereo speakers are set up to outside, so you can dance on the lovely stone pool deck... and a full assortment of lights to provide whatever ambiance you are looking for. The grounds were lovely -- grassed areas, a well-tended garden, and the pool and hot tub (ahhh!), all surrounded by jungle. We saw parrots, toucan and numerous other birds that my partner eagerly looked up, and we were all enamoured with the resident iguana, and of course, the monkeys! Moving inside, the doors are incredible... maybe 20ft wide again, opening fully on two sides to make the living area/kitchen open air as well. The bedrooms were huge, with very comfortable beds and bedding. The bathrooms are also incredible -- open air, full of plants, but completely private - hard to describe, but lovely. It was reassuring to have Rigo and his family on the premises -- especially coming home at night (even though the area seems very safe). He was unassuming, but ready to help if needed. Finally, Lora and Boyan were so wonderful to deal with and went way out of their way for us. When we asked if a crib was available, they said yes without hesitation. Little did we realize that they needed to go out and buy one, plus bedding and even a pillow! They also let us park at their hotel when we went into town (Montezuma can be a little crowded) and use the internet there. All in all a super place -- I couldn't help but feel very lucky, and a bit spoiled to have had our time there. Its a luxurious place, but felt like home at the same time. A girl can dream...
Loved this place! Stayed for a full week in January 2013 and did not want to leave. The pictures are beautiful and the property is better still. Things we enjoyed the most: the views, the space, the outdoor living areas, the pool, the gardens and vegetation, the monkeys, the 2 couples of visiting parrots in the morning, the stars, the well equiped kitchen, the semi-outdoor bathrooms, the privacy and security, the discreet on-site caretaker Rigo and his family and so much more.
We have traveled quite a bit and have rented many hotels and homes over the years so we know what we want. This place truely delivered and met our expectations. The property manager Lora was delightful, available and very heplful. Dealing with her was a pleasure. She met us at the taxi boat, escorted us to the villa and even arranged a car rental for us to be delivered at the house.
The only issues we had was 1) internet was a 3g usb key not compatible with our older ipad and 2) sound system limited to radio as we could not plug in our ipod. They tried their best to resolve the internet issue and in the end Lora's father lend us his laptop for the week! They hope to get true wifi set up eventually as it is available in many local cafés and b&b.
We loved the place and Montezuma and very much look forward to going back and staying at Villa Prana. Enjoy!
I recently stayed with a friend at Villa Prana in Montezuma for 3 weeks. The place was unbelievable!! It is built high on a hill above the trees which gave me the feeling of being in an eagle’s nest. It took my breath away ! I really felt a tranquility here that I have not felt in a while.
The extraordinary view is completely open to all sides . Of course the best view was from the jacuzzi or infinity pool which we really appreciated during the hot days and for enjoying some star gazing at night too!
The villa is large and very well designed to let in a marvellous breeze which kept a comfortable temperature no matter how hot it got. It was always a relief to walk up from the gate and instantly feel the coolness of the house and veranda. We loved the spaciousness and openness of the house so that even while inside we felt like we were outside. The covered veranda surrounding the house on 3 sides is wide and completely open to an amazing view on all sides. We could always find a nice shady private place to read, or just to hang out in the hammock with an eye on the garden or jungle. I saw monkeys and birds pass by often in the morning or late afternoon. I loved that!
It was also a new experience for me to sleep with the windows open. I thought it would be hot at night because it was the tropics but it was quite cool and I slept great and woke up refreshed. Waking up to the howler monkeys and birds was so much more pleasant than waking up to an alarm clock. In fact I often got up at 5:30 am with my coffee to watch the changing light of the sunrise from the terrace …something I would never do at home!
Both bedrooms have very beautiful wooden mexican style king size beds with good comfortable mattresses and large closets so lots of storage which was great. The bathrooms are huge and open to walled outdoor gardens where you could look up to the sky or the from the jungle. The kitchen was well equipped and we loved that the refrigerator had an icemaker ,very important for our cold hibiscus tea.
We took some private yoga lessons at the house and it was an incredible
to practice early in the morning on the natural stone terrace by the pool with such an inspiring view all around us. Practising yoga at night under the full moon and the stars with the sound of surf and cicadas was an experience of Prana that I won‘t ever forget.
I would certainly recommend this beautiful house to everyone who would like to spend time in their own private paradise.
The serenity and inspiring setting makes Villa Prana an ideal place to practise yoga.
We are also steps away from the Montezuma Waterfall .
Our house managers have extensive knowledge of the area and all the great things to see and do and will be very happy to answer any questions you have about travel arrangements, the area , and activities. A house safe and an onsite caretaker adds to your vacation security.
