We have been traveling to North Carolina for years and then we decided to buy a cabin, except we ended up building one in Jackson County. And then we found these cabins and loved the area. Renting them was a gradual thing after folks we knew wanted to rent them, so we decided to advertise. It's alot of work, but we love getting the cabins ready for ourselves and anyone else that would like to enjoy them. You can't help but love the cool air and country atmosphere in Graham County.
Debbie Perron purchased this cabin in 1997
We bought this cabin a few years after our cabin (the Chalet), just because it was so cute and conveniently located on the same road for our family and friends. It's always hard to decide which cabin we like the best.
The weather is great, the views are beautiful and everyone waves to you while driving on the road.
Immaculately clean and very well decorated mountain cabin. Tasteful accents include many themes on bears...and guess what...we saw one just down the road during our stay! Everything you need for a peaceful stay in the mountains. Good area for relaxing and hiking. Roy and Debbie were very welcoming and ready to be of assistance should you need anything or have questions.
This is an fantastic place to stay in beautiful Graham County. Our hosts had done everything one could need for a hassle free stay, just bring clothes and food, everything else is provided for. Roy met us just after we arrived to show us around the house. The internet and Direct TV provided a relaxing way to wind down the evening after exploring the area during the day. The cool mornings in the 60's were fantastic to wake up to in the middle of July, especially with the sounds of the creek flowing by just down the hill from the front deck. Coming from the coast we especially enjoyed the break from any mosquitos. In Graham County the top attractions for us were the Cherohala Skyway, even than the Blue Ridge parkway, with lots less traffic, and the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, which can only be seen to be believed.
We would not hesitate to stay here again and will recommend it to anyone wishing a getaway to the mountains. Roy is the type of host that has gone out of his way to provide a house with anything one might need away from home, and we wanted for nothing, except a longer stay.
Debbie and Roy have a great place to escape, relax and re-energize! We stayed in this cozy little cabin for a 5 day time period in July. You cannot ask for better hosts. They come down to check on you and make sure all is good but are not intrusive at all. They can recommend places to go, things to see or do, places to eat and even bring by extra firewood to keep you enjoying the outdoors after dark. We brought our bike and rode many of the great roads in the area. There is no cell signal but we were working with Roy on the WIFI when we left and were able to access it with a laptop from the outside picnic table and right by the main door. This is a great place to get away from it all and really relax and enjoy this beautiful section of North Carolina. The cabin is cozy and works well for a couple. Couldn't ask for a better vacation getaway.
Came for a weekend adventure and wished we could have stayed much longer. Rode mountains bikes one day at the near by breathtaking Tsali trails. Rafted the amazing Cheoah River for the third time, and was spectacular once again. Rained off and on but did not deter afternoon hike on nearby trails to gorgeous Yellow Creek Waterfall. So much to do and see in such a beautiful area, and even better that there is no cell service, you can totally relax and leave society behind. Roy and Debbie were very gracious host who were very nice to come by or call to check on us. Will definitely be returning to this cabin again in the future!!
Roy and Debbie are the best hosts. They have thought of everything to make your stay complete. The cabin is well kept and stocked with whatever you need. They have provided brouchures and information on local places to visit and made personal recommendations, too. Roy was kind enough to bring us a fire ring for a fire one evening. We accidently left a blanket that was very sentimental. Roy boxed the blanket and returned it to Florida. You will not meet nicer, kinder folk. We'll be back!!
We just spent a week at the Retreat with our adult children We had a great time and did a lot of sight seeing. We had to go a little far for a few of the sights we wanted to see, but that was okay. The cabin itself was great, with all the amenities we wanted. If we had a problem, Roy was right there to take care of it. He was great. It was so quiet and peaceful, we were glad to get up in the morning and look out at the surroundings. It rained a lot at night, but the days were perfect most of the time. We went down to the dam and looked around. We ate at Jimmy Macs in Bryson City, which had been recommended by a friend and it was very good. We had a wonderful week and would recommend the Retreat to anyone. Thank you for everything.
Access is by a concrete road to the cabin. Site plan of the property is available showing the fishing creek, hiking trail and cabin locations of Smoky Mountain Vacation Rentals.
