Fairplay Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Log Cabin, 3 Bedrooms with balcony, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

Aspen Vista got its name from the magnificent aspen and spruce forest and amazing snow capped mountain vistas surrounding the home, providing a beautiful and peaceful setting in any season. Relax in quiet and complete privacy warming yourself by the cozy fire inside or on the large deck gazing up at the stars in the private hot tub, surrounded by forest. The two story high windows bring you close to nature as you look out at forest, mountains, and alpine fields. Upper deck off of the loft bedroom has gorgeous sunset colors in the evening. Drift off to sleep in very comfortable queen sized beds with nice linens and plenty of comforters to snuggle in.In the loft, gaze at stars through skylight. Located a mere 85 miles from Denver and 20 miles from Breckenridge, this bright, cozy, updated home offers a very private, quiet escape for a romantic get-away, family gathering, or group of up to six people. Email us for more photos, and be sure to read our reviews to get a better feel for this special property.

The newly remodeled log cabin is on two heavily wooded acres and backs to 35 acre undeveloped parcels, providing complete privacy. It has a sunny, open floor plan. The home features a spacious loft bedroom upstairs with a skylight for star gazing from your very comfortable queen sized bed, and a private balcony. Quality linens, cozy comforters, and plenty of throw blankets in all bedrooms help ensure a good night's sleep . Dressers in every bedroom make it easy to unpack and make yourself at home. There are two bedrooms on the main level. The master bedroom has a very comfortable queen bed, and the small bedroom has a comfortable 8' double size futon. The living room offers hard wood floors, a new wood burning stove with a large glass front to view the fire, and a two story vaulted ceiling with big windows providing outstanding views and to surround the home in warm, natural sunlight. It opens onto a large deck with a six person hot tub to enjoy the amazing mountain views. Although the cabin has a rustic feel, the tastefully decorated cabin is very comfortable and updated. The fully equipped kitchen with new appliances, granite tile counter tops, and wood island provides all you will need to prepare gourmet meals. The travertine tiled bathroom has a bathtub with yet another window with a view! Create your own adventure exploring the two wooded acres, or walk a short distance to National Forest trails. Snowshoe, ski, hike or bike right from the cabin, and try out the sledding hill! Be sure to walk to the alpine meadow to treat yourself to one of the best alpenglow displays in Colorado….you’ll have mountains surrounding you in every direction! You’ll often see elk, deer, and even moose if you take a stroll at sunrise or sunset.

If you decide to stay in, the cabin has everything you’ll need to relax…music (cd player/stereo and a guitar), books, games, and videos. If you can pull yourself away from the warm glow of the fire and star filled sky (no light pollution to obstruct them!), there are some wonderful restaurants, shops, wine tasting, galleries, and live music in the town of Fairplay, just minutes away. Classes in art, jewelry making, and beading are available in town. The nearby historic ghost town of South Park can be visited summer-autumn. The charming Victorian town of Breckenridge, known for its world class skiing, is full of restaurants, shops, and night life, and is just 25 minutes away. It also has a full cultural program in the summer with wonderful outdoor concerts. Cottonwood Hot Springs are a short drive away. Aspen Vista is open year round for you to enjoy a quiet retreat in all seasons. If you are looking for something for the kids to do in warmer weather, they'll love the big playground, skate park and sandy 'beach' in Alma just about 10 minutes away.

This is our family cabin that we only rent when we are not using it, so it should have everything you need for a very peaceful and comfortable stay. We love the cabin and area and are happy to offer lots of information about the surrounding area that only locals know about (special trails, unique fishing spots, etc).

NO SMOKING OF ANY TYPE IS ALLOWED IN CABIN OR ON PROPERTY.

About Karen Beesley

We love the mountains, outdoor adventure, and peace & quiet. We found all of these things at the Aspen Vista. It is incredible to find a spot that is so secluded and private. We have spent endless week-ends exploring the rocky mountains the last 15 years, and when we saw this property, we knew in an instant this was the spot we wanted to spend our free time. With every week-end, we discover a new trail and new adventure. It is amazing to us how much there is to do in the area...and how wonderful it is to do nothing but enjoy the peace and tranquility of the cabin, maybe just taking a stroll amid the mountains surrounding the alpine field or throwing some horse shoes.

Why Karen Beesley chose South Central Colorado

We traveled around Colorado for over 10 years before deciding on this unique cabin and area. It's wonderful for outdoor adventure in all seasons. From the door you can have fun biking, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, sledding and never have to get in your car. We love all the wildlife we see nearly every visit (elk, deer, and once even a moose)! We love the Colorado outdoors, and this is the perfect place to enjoy so many adventures without crowds. We have spent endless week-ends exploring the rocky mountains the last 15 years, and when we saw this property, we knew in an instant this was the spot we wanted to spend our free time. With every week-end, we discover new trails and new adventures. It is amazing to us how much there is to do in the area...and how wonderful it is to do nothing but enjoy the peace and tranquility of the cabin, maybe just taking a stroll amid the mountains surrounding the alpine field or throwing some horse shoes. This is truly a little slice of heaven.

What makes this cabin unique

Although our lot is two acres, the lots around us are 35 acres and untouched (and national forest on the other side of those!), so we get access to miles of open space outside our door! You will not find a another spot this quiet.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We've stayed in many cabins in the past, but none with views and silence like this. Loved resting in the hot tub too, enjoying the view and hearing nothing but the breeze. At night, relaxing on the balcony just staring at the stars, never seen so many!"

What a fantastic little piece of secluded paradise!!

The cabin is located not far from Fairplay. So it was an easy drive from Denver. We arrived in dark. GPS on iPhone these days really did a good job dropping you right in front of the driveway. So no worries there.

We initially thought we would drive out the next day to explore and hike around the Montgomery Reservoir area, but the cabin was so cozy and the surrounding areas were so peaceful, we ended up ditching our plans and stayed in and around the cabin the entire weekend. We made breakfast, then took a walk into the aspen woods with our 6 year old daughter and 11 year old dog... We did picnic in the woods, the hot tub was a godsend...built fire in the wood burning stove (there was a fire restriction by the county when we visited)... roasted marshmallows... Played a lot of board and card games... We really enjoyed every moment. My daughter loved the loft. I think it was a brilliant setup to put kids up there.. She woke up early and there was a DVD player and a flat panel TV there. Karen has many awesome classics in the collection for you to use. My daughter was really thrilled to find Wall-E and Shrek in the collection.

There is no cable TV and you can't stream movies. What we did was packing up an Apple TV, downloaded the digital copies of the movies on my iPhone and used Airplay to mirror the display from my phone to TV. Worked great!!

We saw one live person the entire weekend!!! Talking about seclusive and get away from all!!

My daughter already made me to promise to bring her back!! Thank you Karen for a wonderful memory we built as a family!

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!

  • 5 of 5

This is my second stay at "the cabin". I absolutely love it here! I stayed in the late spring and again late summer. It is so peaceful and quiet. This second time there was an early morning visitor that wrestled with the bear proof trash can and woke me up 430ish! So please make sure you follow the directions regarding food and trash! Overall perfect place for my base camp in the area. It is just great BEING THERE even if you do nothing but hang out! I will always rent again.

Owner's Response: So happy you could return! Oh dear, so sorry about the early morning wake up from the wildlife. We have been fortunate to only see the moose, elk and deer, but not to have been awakened by the wildlife. I hope other mornings were more peaceful for you. :) Warmly, Karen

Quiet, private, mountain wildlife

  • 5 of 5

My family of four stayed at Aspen Vista for a week to enjoy the sights in Colorado, and take in the Burro Days festival in Fairplay. We got to see llama racing!! The cabin itself was comfortable and well stocked for basics that made cooking with what was available at the Prathers grocery store in town easy. The field behind the cabin is wonderfully peaceful, and my husband and I enjoyed the sunsets from a few convenient stumps. The kids enjoyed exploring the field and looking for animal sign. We did see elk one evening, and heard the coyotes singing at night. There's also a very curious hummingbird that visited the deck several times while we were enjoying the sunshine. The cabin isn't unbearably far from Pikes Peak, the Garden of the Gods, etc, and the town of Fairplay itself was a lot of fun. We're dreaming of moving to Colorado after our stay.

quiet getaway with lots to do

  • 5 of 5

My family of 6 stayed July 17-22 and really enjoyed this cabin. There are other cabins around, but we never saw another person around except when driving to and from the cabin - it was great! The kitchen was well stocked and the kids had a great time picking out a nightly movie from their collection. They also had fun with all the musical instruments! There were also lots of games that we sat around and played at night. The hot tub was in the perfect location that I could be cooking supper while keeping an eye on the kids. The town of Fairplay is a great small town. We really enjoyed exploring it. We also found great hiking trails nearby. (Sheep Creek Trail to 12 mile lake was great and we only saw 1 person on the entire 9 mile hike!) There are also several other cute towns nearby with plenty to do. We also found several hidden lakes in the area that we basically had all to ourselves! We went whitewater rafting (which included cliff jumping) in Frisco with Paddle Colorado (great mom and pop business). Karen was easy to work with. We had an issue at the beginning, but she made it right. We would definitely stay here again. Great location away from it all. We loved it!

Super Nice and Comfortable!

What a great place to unwind and regenerate! My only regret is that I didn't get to stay longer! I will definitely be back here! Saw plenty of elk and deer, went fishing, and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Thanks for an incredible 2 nights!
