I am a lawyer from the Philadelphia region. My wife and I, along with our two teen age sons, have been coming to Nantucket for many years. This house is owned in trust by brother, sister and me. I manage the house on behalf of the family. We generally use it ourselves in August and rent in June, July and September. We love the house and its special place amidst the moors on a bluff overlooking the south shore.
Dan Wofford purchased this house in 1977
My parents brought our family to Nantucket in the early 1970s.Our family fell in love with the South shore. Back when land was affordable, my parents bought this lot and built the house we are offering to you for rent. My late mother designed the house to maximize the interior space and the surrounding views.
Unique and very private beach front; unparalleled privacy; remarkable moors surrounding property, whose shades of color change as the day progresses.
We had a wonderfully relaxing vacation in this spacious home, with terrific oceanfront views. The soundtrack of waves hitting the shore became a background that was very hard to leave, as was the deserted, spectacular beach (with an easier walk down to it than many other homes in Nantucket). And we've never rented a home from anyone as gracious, warm and hospitable as Dan Wofford -- they broke the mold with him. All in all, our two weeks here in Paradise afforded a great escape from the stresses of real life.
Perfect beach house in an incredible location and one of the best houses I have rented on Nantucket. The house is very comfortable with incredible views, a ton of privacy for Nantucket and a short walk to a great beach. Dan was a pleasure to work with as well.
We rented this house for an extended family special occasion and were all just thrilled with it. The house is spacious and comfortable with lots of land around it so it feels very private. The ocean view is just spectacular—better than it looks in the photos, and there’s easy access to the beach, which also feels very private. The owner is very communicative, gracious, and easy to work with, and made the extra effort to make sure our experience was as enjoyable as possible. This place has everything you could want in a vacation home!
We stayed late September/Early October and thoroughly enjoyed this house. It is very accurately described and the owner, Dan, is a pleasure to work with. It is a very comfortable home that is well furnished and equipped with everything you would need for your beach vacation. The location is great too and is very private with lovely views.
What a great vacation cottage! I've been coming to Nantucket for many years and it's hard for me to imaging a better location on the island. The location on Madequecham Valley Road is very private with plenty of buffer between adjacent properties. The south-facing 2nd floor deck provides incredible views of the ocean including daily sunrises to the left and sunsets to the right. The online photos can't possible do the views justice! The property was clean and well-prepared for our visit. The owners care deeply about the renter's experience as evidenced by their thorough preparation and terrific communcation and accessibility leading up to, during, and after the rental. They were very helpful with any questions we had leading up to the rental period.
The property sits about 100 ft back from a private beach access. The beach itself was beautiful and rarely did we see anyone else on the beach during our stay. The town of Nantucket is about a 15 minute car ride away, so access to shops and restauraunts is very good.
We loved the property so much that we've already requested a rental again next year! We would highly recommend this location to anyone interested in a unique Nantucket island getaway with spectacular ocean views and beach access!
I am a long-time rental of this property and I can say without hesitation that it is heavenly. There are few places on the planet with pristine secluded beaches, unlimited and unobscured views and privacy from protected land on one of the world's great islands! Just driving down the winding dirt road lowers my blood pressure and releases the knots in my neck from work. Whether relaxing on the elevated and expansive deck, reading a book and listening to waves in one of the two ample bedrooms or strolling the beach at sunset, this property exudes healing. We look forward to it every year!!!!
Blueberry picking in the surrounding moors (land protected by the Conservation Land Bank), surf-casting for bluefish from our beach, playing croquet or bocce ball on our front lawn.
