Large one bedroom ground floor suite in character home overlooking Gonzales Bay
The Gonzales Bay Beach House is a character home built prior to 1900. It has been completely restored and now has 3 large apartments. Each of the original apartments has previously been a vacation rental property; they are now long term rentals.
A few years ago I built a brand new apartment on the ground floor that I rent by the month when I am travelling in my motor home.
If you are relocating to Victoria; renovating your home or find yourself working here for a fixed period of time, this could be a perfect solution to your short term rental needs. This property would suit visitors who would like to stay a month or more and experience the city and surrounding area for a longer period of time.
This architecturally designed ground floor apartment has a mud room/laundry room, one bedroom plus a TV loft and a 'Bunky' suitable for a small child; modern kitchen with new stainless appliances, quartz counter top; built in vacuum system and heated bathroom floor.
The exposed original brick chimneys and period lighting complement the modern open concept design and high end finishes. Many windows and doors let in light making it feel bright and airy even on dull days It is furnished with a combination of contemporary and antique furnishings. The wood stove will keep you warm and cozy during cool evenings. Outside there is a patio and garden area.
The Gonzales Bay Beach House is located along the main tourist route on the waterfront but is tucked away up a long driveway making it very private and quiet. Across the street is a lovely sandy beach that is a playground for children and dogs.
The location is perfect if you are looking to find yourself in a great neighbourhood, out of the city but still close enough to walk downtown in 40 minutes or bike in 10.
The neighbourhood is special because of the quiet, tree-lined streets, diverse and attractive detached houses with gardens, a variety of park spaces (from Gonzales Hill to Gonzales Beach), small neighbourhood stores and services.
The rich inventory of heritage homes on tree-lined streets, its waterfront including the picturesque Gonzales Bay, and proximity to downtown and cycling pathways make the Gonzales neighbourhood a popular place to live, work and visit.
Oak Bay Village is a 20 minute walk to the east and Cook Street Village is a 20 minute walk to the west. Nearby are shops and grocery stores for your convenience.

About Loredana Simpson
After retiring from the University of Victoria I bought a small RV . Dora and I took many trips on Vancouver Island and Washington state. A couple of years ago I bought a newer RV and now feel confident in travelling longer distances. So I decided to build a new apartment for myself and rent it out while I travel. Now I have a gorgeous new apartment that you can enjoy while I travel the country.
Loredana Simpson purchased this Apartment in 1985
Why Loredana Simpson chose Fairfield
I love it here! The Gonzales neighbourhood has been my home for over 30 years; I've seen many changes over that time. From a beach cottage community, Gonzales Bay has been transformed to an area of multi million dollar waterfront homes. We bought this home more than 30 years ago and have been renovating it ever since. Hint...once you start, it never ends.
What makes this Apartment unique
The community is very family friendly; with public and private schools within walking distance from the Beach House. A shopping centre with everything you need is close by; both Oak Bay Village and Cook street Village are within walking distance. Gonzales Beach is quiet in winter, but the beach of choice for many in the summer, a great place for children to play and dogs to run free. Great stay, clean, comfortable, great beach, 1/2 walk downtown
Host , Loredana was great, helpful and friendly. Suit had everything we needed.
I'm pleased you had a wonderful time in Victoria while visiting family. Hope to hear of your travels in the upcoming year.
it felt like home and it was hard to leave!
I stayed in this wonderful rental for 4 months while I was looking for a place of my own to purchase in Victoria. After spending so much time living with the beach right across the street and getting to know it at various times of the day and 2 seasons of the year I started to think I could never live without a beach in my life again. My little dog even learned to swim and learned a new favourite word "beach". The folks who live in the other areas of the big house are all friendly and happily shared a bumper crop of delicious raspberries right outside the door.
Loredanna is a helpful and friendly host and neighbour Michael came to my rescue on quite a few occasions. He is very handy.
The apartment itself is perfect, like being in a summer cottage but still cozy when the weather changed. It has ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING you could want.....wait....iron but no board :)
Of course I am returning and booked well in advance !
Thank you so much I'm pleased you and Stella felt at home here. I look forward to seeing you again in 2017!
My husband and I (and little pooch) had a great week in Loredana's lovely home.....Everything was just as advertised and Loredana was generous in sharing personal items for our comfort ie. music (cds) extra throws etc...
The location is lovely, just across from beach access, and we enjoyed quiet, early morning walks daily....All the stores we needed were close-by...Other perks...great laundry facilities on-site (so you don't need to bring a ton of stuff)...quiet environment if you just want to kick-back and relax....beautiful surroundings....easily contactable,, helpful owners....We could easily live there....:)
A wonderful stay at Gonzalez Beach!
Loredana's apartment was just what we were hoping for. Clean, comfortable, and excellent location! The apartment is brand new, just as pictured, and in a great neighborhood. It is located just across the street from Gonzales Beach, although the beach cannot be seen from the house. But that did not matter, her gardens are lovely. Although a bit of a hike, we were able to walk to downtown Victoria. If one has a bike, all the better. The grocery store is only a few blocks away, and we walked there also.
Loredana was quickly responsive to all questions and willing to help with any issues (which in our case had to do with booking). We really appreciated the apartment and Loredana's attentiveness. We would return in a heartbeat!! Thank you, Loredana!
Thank you Marti, I'm very pleased the you both enjoyed your stay here and look forward to seeing you again sometime in the future.
Fun times in Gonzales Bay
Our 2week stay at the Gonzales Bay guest house was far too short. We fell in love with the house from the moment we got there (as well as with the 2 most cuddly cats ever). The home has a bright sunny beach decor. Beautiful kitchen, bathroom and laundry room, we felt right at home.
We couldn't ask for a better location. We brought our bikes and used them daily, cycling to local markets, along Dallas road, Oak bay ave, too many to mention. Our favorite thing was just to take our tea tea across the street to the beach at any time of day.
The owner is incredibly accomidating. We feel we have a new friend in her as well as the other property owner who we enjoyed visiting with. On our second day there we had already booked for next year!
We stayed at the Gonzales Bay Guest House for 12 months in 2012. We had the most amazing year of our

The location of the property is perfect. It's literally across the road from the Gonzales Beach walkway beach access. This beach is very family friendly, bustling in the summer with sun, sunlovers and fun, and it feels very safe for families and for children. It's perfect for swimming (with a wetsuit on!!) or paddle boarding or kayaking, and for runners, the route along Crescent Road either down Dallas Road or in the other direction along Beach Drive, is stunningly superb.
The home has a wonderful, cozy, warm atmosphere, making it very inviting and welcoming to every one who is lucky enough to use it- guests and all their friends. The rooms and spaces are all tastefully decorated and full of spunky character. The all important kitchen and bathrooms can not be faulted- large, new, practical and beautiful. My favourite room of the house is the master bedroom, upstairs- it is enormous, beautifully furnished with a very comfortable bed, a fireplace and small lounge in it, romantic and cozy- absolutely perfect. The outdoor living space is also exceptional- a large BBQ, decking on several levels, tasteful outdoor furniture and views of Gonzales Bay.
The house is extremely clean and well maintained, and the owner is one of the loveliest, most approachable people you could ever meet, always willing to answer questions and help in any way possible.
I would absolutely recommend this property to friends and relatives, and I will definitely want to stay there again when I go back to amazing Victoria.
Gonzales Bay is located along the waterfront between Victoria city centre and Oak Bay. It is a popular walking, cycling and driving route for tourists. There are many walking trails into hidden parks and open spaces for those who like to explore the ocean front. We are located in a micro climate that seems to get more sunshine. Often there are clouds in the surrounding mountains and hills, but sunny above our heads. People like to be outside here, so you will often meet the neighbours walking their dogs and marvel at the cyclists out training.
