Why The Owner chose Lakes Region

We vacationed in the Squam Lake area for many years before buying property. We returned here to retire because of the quiet beauty of the area. In 2000, we found this property on White Oak Pond, a short walk to Squam Lake. We are away visiting family at some times of the year, but when we are in NH, we stay at our house which is adjacent to this property.

What makes this house unique

Guests staying here have marveled at the serenity of the Pond. Motors on boats are limited to 7.5 hp, making this an ideal place for canoes, kayaks, and small sailboats. A boat launch on Squam Lake for 25 hp motor boats or less is a short drive, and a public launch for larger boats, located on the Squam River, is 10 minutes from the property.

Farmhouse on White Oak Pond

  • 5 of 5

We held our biannual family reunion at the Farmhouse and one other nearby house. The house and location were perfect for all three generations. The house is an updated farmhouse with interesting architecture and history. The owners who live next door are very friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic. There is lots of room to relax, indoors and out. There are canoes and kayaks for exploring White Oak Pond, and there are some excellent trails within a short driving distance. Squam Lake, which is right across the main road, is a larger and more interesting body of water, but it draws a lot more attention from visitors too. The nearby Squam Lake Natural Science Center is outstanding.

We had a memorable reunion there, and I would strongly recommend the Farmhouse to anyone.

Wonderful Vacation Spot!!!

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé, his adult children and myself stayed in this lovely home this past week. We had such a wonderful time! From the moment we reached out to inquire about the dates, we had a very pleasant experience. The owner replied very quickly, she is very friendly and easy to work with and made sure we had all the information we needed in order to have a great vacation! The house, the grounds and setting are beautiful. The kitchen is gorgeous, spacious, organized and well-equipped with utensils, that you could even bake a very complex pie if you needed to. The great room and screened-in porch are very open and spacious as well. There is a ping-pong table in the screened-in porch and we played almost every night! Had so much fun!

There is no wifi and TV, so it's a great place really enjoy nature and the company of your family. There is so much wildlife in White Oak Pond and its surroundings. We went swimming, fishing, kayaking and canoeing and saw a frog, a turtle, a beaver, a blue heron, heard numerous birds, saw a deer and saw different types of ducks including a loon with a duckling on its back. It was so beautiful to hear its voice echo through the pond.

There are several places nearby where you can get groceries. Our favorite was the Squam Lake Marketplace. It's only 5 minutes down the road and you get very good organic supplies and the staff is very friendly. The Rattlesnakes is a very good and easy hike with breathtaking views and it's only about 16 minutes away from the property.

We really enjoyed our week there and highly recommend it!!!!!

Idyllic retreat - great for kids

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family stayed in the farmhouse over a two week period this summer, and absolutely loved the property and the pond. (A note about the "pond": it is a beautiful small lake in itself, more peaceful than Squam, and with more abundant wildlife such as nesting loons.) The historic house is large and spacious, beautifully furnished and thoughtfully supplied. The large flat lawn, sandy beach, play set and fire circle make it more kid-friendly than any lake property we've seen before. We enthusiastically recommend it.

Wonderful Family Vacation Spot!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this home for a week to vacation with our three young kids and we could not have been more pleased with the house and the location. The house is large, clean and comfortable with beautiful gardens and plenty of activities for everyone - especially the kids. The location in Holderness is very convenient to many of the Lakes Region attractions. White Oak Pond is so peaceful and quiet and we really enjoyed seeing the Loon family, swimming, kayaking and fishing. The owners of this home are very friendly and extremely helpful. We hope to return again soon!
