Beautiful, soul-filled place
This was our 2nd time staying here. This is the perfect place to simply slow down and "be".
My husband and I rented this fantastic house to join our family down the road for a 60th birthday party.
The photos do not capture how spacious this house is. Including the extremely high ceilings due to being a schoolhouse!
We had a couple friends join us for 3 of the nights and even with 4 people staying there we never felt crowded.
We had everything that we needed, including many recommendations for coffee, food, dinners and of course lobster!
Wendy was a pleasure to work with and so thankful that she has her home available to rent.
This is undoubtedly the best house I have ever rented. We loved the location and it was peaceful and quiet. Wendy was very gracious. The pottery lessons were great. My husband really loved it! We rode our bikes, hiked, went into town and then spent a day traveling to Camden, Pemaquid Point and Boothbay.
The bed in master BR was very comfortable. We ate in several nights and felt the kitchen was well stocked. The nights were cool so we never used the AC! I just cannot say enough good things about this rental.
Love this house!
We fell in love with Wendy's house, which is a restored schoolhouse along the Batson River. It was beautiful, comfortable, and welcoming. We liked it so much that we just spent a day or two relaxing and reading in the house instead of sight-seeing. The bonus was meeting Wendy and taking a pottery lesson with her. Fun!
Almost didn’t come home !!
Once again.. we had a wonderful time! Didn’t want to leave.. Enjoyed the Schoolhouse tremendously! And playing with clay in the studio is a treat.. Thought my wife was going to make me wrestle the next guests to stay another week!
A unique retreat
We enjoyed this stay immensely. Traveling with a pet is often a challenge but this property was precisely the place we were looking for. Our dog is really bummed that she is not still there! I mean mopey and not from the travel back home. This is a place with a nice lawn, room to walk around, space between the house and the neighbors and that space filled with flowers or trees, a stream along side, with places to kick back and just be quiet. It keeps the 1900 vibe of its schoolhouse days with some furnishings of the era but also mixes in contemporary conveniences. The two of us appreciated the residential neighborhood and its proximity to everywhere without being in the turmoil of the tourist areas. I took advantage of the offer made by the owner, a skilled ceramicist and potter, to create my own masterpiece to remember our stay.
It is often difficult to determine if an individual property is the right one for your vacation from a description and some photos. This property and location was perfect for us. We had a great week and would return in a heartbeat. Heads up - the sun comes up very early this close to the ocean!
