Beautiful, sunny, new ski home located 5 miles from Stratton Ski Area, 20 minutes to Bromley or Mount Snow, and 40 minutes to Okemo. 25 minutes to Manchester outlet shopping. 3 minute drive into the lovely village of Jamaica, Vermont.
This large friendly home is open with exposed beams and more than 4400 sq. feet with 2 fireplaces, 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 2 soaking tubs, game room (with Foosball and professional tabletop shuffleboard), great room, dining area, and quiet sitting area. The perfect home for large or multiple families. Lovely, private setting surrounded by old growth trees. Sit by the fire and enjoy looking out the large windows or watch the game on the flat screen TV above the fireplace.
Large foyer for your skis and boots, free long distance phone service anywhere in USA, washer and dryer.
The positives: This house is huge and plenty big enough for a large family to spread out. It is in a great location near multiple ski spots and great hiking spots, it's well-equipped with TVs, nice linens, and plenty of dishes and silverware.
The cons: The house has a lot of damage from previous renters which I photographed and sent to the owner upon arrival and later as I discovered it. Some folks may not mind the "lived-in" look, but to us it looked like a fraternity party had happened before we got there. For example: A broken stair spindle, broken couch, broken bench, missing interior doorknob to a bathroom (which trapped a child for a period of time), multiple cracked windows, missing front stoop tiles, broken or missing baseboard heater covers, multiple holes in walls even around switch plate covers, non-functional grills, missing or broken drawer fronts in the kitchen, not functional water/ice dispensers on the refrigerator (not hooked up yet). There were also mouse droppings in front of the refrigerator and flies on the windowsill which the owner attributed to the unseasonable warm temperatures. Even more repulsive than the mouse droppings was the black, rotten wood around the UN-CLEANABLE kitchen sink.
With all the issues described and pictures sent, the only things the owner finally responded to were the flies (warm weather), the missing smoke detectors in the ceiling (apparently others were wall-mounted) , the refrigerator ice/water not yet being hooked up, and the grills which she hadn't expected anyone to want to use. Nothing else was acknowledged. She offered a refund on the cleaning service but I did not take her up on it. The lion's share of the issues had nothing to do with cleaning and everything to do with poor maintenance.
My cousins and I are amazed of this place and we are thankful for the opportunity to stay for that weekend. The house is clean and the beds are wonderfully comfortable. We all slept well! Each bedroom were comfortably accommodating.
A few of us had alittle trouble finding the house due to the street layout but I found the owner was very accessible to help me so it really made our weekend flow very nicely.
We all enjoyed exploring the Ball Mountain Dam, and enjoyed shopping at the nearby shops and trying some of the nearby towns specialties, such as the Farmer's market, smoked meats, and their cheeses.
Yes, I would definitely recommend this place. As a matter of fact one of my cousins is already interested in renting it for a weekend in March!
We absolutely loved this place! It was perfect for our large group. There were plenty of rooms for everyone to comfortably sleep in with all the amenities you'd possibly need. We also loved the oversized fire pit in the backyard. There were plenty of common areas to spread out and relax. We would defintely come back to rent again!
We are return guests and really enjoyed our stay.
Looking forward to renting again.
Thank You Stacy.
We had a family reunion and stayed at the house over the Christmas break. House is spacious and great for big families or reunion. Provided great amenities, beds comfortable and all bedrooms had goose down comforters. Large mudroom for skis, boots, etc. About a 25 minute drive to Mount Snow. Upon arrival - small miscommunication with housekeeper, not completely cleaned. (garbage, food in fridge, etc) Housekeeper seemed annoyed upon return. Owner pleasant and quick to return phone calls and help. Quickly replaced broken coffee pot! Enjoyed the quality time with family. Small updating needs in kitchen. All in all great stay, nice area with large deck and amazing views from great room!
My family rented this house with 2 of my brothers and their families. It was perfect. Lots of space, the layout was great. Each of our families had their own "section" of the house which gave us our own bedrooms and bathrooms. The location is good, just 10-15 minutes from Stratton Mountain and about 20 from Manchester. The owner could not be more helpful and nice. She answered my questions quickly and was very accommodating. I would recommend this house to families who want to vacation together, but still like some time at the end of the day for some privacy. We all had such a great time there!
