A Dock of One's Own

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I rented the house for a weekend getaway. The house was charming and very clean. We were surprised there were several houses on the same street, in fairly close proximity, and the lake can't be seen from the house. The house has great windows and great light, but not much of a view. But then we walked down to the dock and were so pleased, nothing else mattered. Sitting on the dock, the sunset was gorgeous, setting on the other side of the lake, behind the green hills. The dock is a perfect spot for a sunset picnic. Or a morning coffee. On our last day, we went for a swim and the lake couldn't have been more refreshing. Cool, clean water, the lake surrounded by enormous pine and birch. The dock was also great to lie out and get some sun, with the giant pines providing partial shade. The lake alone made our stay infinitely worthwhile. We also loved that the house is only 10 minutes from Lenox, where we had great tapas and bought some great books at "The Bookstore." All in all, a great weekend at a reasonable price. We also appreciated that our security deposit was returned within days.

Owner's Response: Our house is located on a private road which we share with one other house. The other house is five minute walk from ours. We have two large wooded lots; one is lakefront with our private dock and shed (full of water toys and oars for our rowboat); the lot other is set back a little with a lawn, our large home, and many tall trees. Sunsets are indeed gorgeous!

A great place for a Berkshires vacation

  • 5 of 5

This is pretty house in a beautiful setting. Lots of room, interesting decorations, great views from the windows, a well-stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and a one minute walk to a quiet lake. The house is a short distance to Tanglewood and good theater.

And Carol was always responsive to questions. Highly recommended.

Peaceful Cottage by the Lake

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at Carol's lovely cottage by the lake over Memorial Day Weekend and really enjoyed our stay, the best thing was that we could bring our dog. The house has an open layout and its full of charm and character, lots of light and a lovely deck. The lake is within a couple of minutes walk on a private road and there is a private deck shared with another house. Went to the lake a few times and took our dog for a swim. The views from the dock are astonishingly beautiful, true Berkshires and enjoyed watching the sunset as well. Overall the house is well appointed and Carol is excellent at keeping in touch and answering any questions we may have. I would recommend renting this beautiful house to anyone who is looking for a tranquil stay, looking to enjoy Tanglewood since it is very close and anyone who has a dog.

Owner's Response: To clarify, our private dock is not shared with another house; however, we allow our neighbors to store their kayaks outside our shed near our dock, and occasionally, they ask us to use our dock. In return, our renters can ask our neighbors to use their kayaks! Our neighbors never refuse!

This is a great house - comfortable and convenient

  • 5 of 5

This is a large house that would accommodate a

good sized family. There were plenty of towels and the kitchen had all necessary gadgets. Through many windows there were lovely views of trees. The lake was generally quiet and peaceful. The location is great for visiting theaters, Tanglewood, and the area's museums.

Charming cottage, great location

  • 5 of 5

This charming cottage is bigger than it looks--sleeps up to 7, with a nice kitchen and 1 1/2 baths. Beautiful great room where you'll want to spend your time, and a short walk to a lovely lake. The arts and activities of tge Berkshires are all close by. Bonus: neighbor has cute chickens that visit!

Nice weekend on Richmond Pond

  • 5 of 5

I rented this property from Friday evening until Monday morning and we had a very nice visit. The pond is quite large and nice swimming with a rocky bottom off the dock. We saw several blue heron, a lot of ducks, geese and their babies and about 20 box turtles sunning themselves on rocks on a kayak trip around the pond. The sunsets are beautiful - last night on the dock we had the pleasure of watching a bald eagle soar over our heads and around the cove three times. A neighbor said they see it every night at that time. The property is on the quiet side of the pond, without much development which made for a very restful stay. The neighbors are all very friendly and came to us to offer their kayaks and paddle boards. We golfed on Saturday at a nice course only 15 minutes away. You'll enjoy your stay!
