Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

If you're looking for a vacation away from crowds, noise and street lights, Tree Haven may be your answer. The cabin is located on a slight hill on 10 acres of hardwoods overlooking Lake Noquebay. Tree Haven is the only cabin on this property.

The surrounding woods are home to red fox, deer, porqupine, black bear, bald eagles, pileated woodpeckers and more critters. The 'backyard' is a natural nature retreat and exploration grounds.

The 500 feet of private shoreline has a grassy beach area. The shoreline is sandy and the water is ankle deep. Lake Noquebay is 2400 acres huge (about 1 mile by 3 miles) and has panfish, muskie, bass, northern pike and walleye. A lake map is at the cabin. A paddle boat and row boat are available for your usage and the public boat launch for your boat is 3 miles away.

The 1061 sq. ft. log sided cabin was originally built in 1978 and completely remodeled in 2001. The walls are all tongue-in-groove pine and carpeted except the kitchen and bathroom. The bathroom contains a handicapped shower.

For those with children, we encourage you to let them explore nature and develop a love and respect for it. There are many nature books in the cabin. For the adults, we encourage you to look at nature through a child's eyes. Enjoy the wildflowers, bugs, birds, snakes and frogs.

Marinette County is the 3rd largest county in Wisconsin and has 12 waterfalls. It is home to 22 county park systems which offer picnic areas, hiking, fishing, playgrounds and swimming, 9 golf courses, a disk golf park, and 6 local museums, including The Peshtigo Fire Museum.

In the nearby villages of Crivitz and Wausaukee, you'll find all that you need-grocery stores, banks, shops, antiques, restaurants, laundromats, bait shops and gas.

There is a 'brochure basket' in the cabin which has more information on rafting, horseback riding, water ski shows and more 'to do'.

In general, Tree Haven is a secluded get-away on 10 private acres for people and families who want nature, time outside, dark nights and quiet. However, civilization is not far away and offers a host of new adventures for you. Yes, there is a night light.

About Sally

My husband and I own a cabin at the end of the 2 mile long driveway. We spend about 70% of our time here fishing, hunting, reading, gardening and plain old sittin' back-the other 30% is spent at our home in Sheboygan county.

Sally purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Sally chose Wausaukee

We had looked at properties on other lakes and didn't like how the houses were crammed in. Thankfully, through friends, we heard about our property in 1995. 'Tree Haven' was originally owned by my father from 2000-2002 at which time we inherited it. Since we enjoyed the north shore, space and purity, we decided to share our good fortune with others and use Tree Haven as a rental. Personally, I have many fond memories of 'going up north' with my family as a child and just want to provide that same opportunity for others.

What makes this cabin unique

I love watching the eagles. There is a nest is behind our house (Dragwood and Blondie) and several others around the lake. Eagle sightings are daily! Whether they are perched in a tree watching the activity on the lake, gliding on the wind, teaching their young to fly or making goo goo eyes at each other during mating season, they are regal.

The cabin itself is 'basic'. Extremely comfortable and warm, but uncluttered with electronics. During your stay, enjoy using your 5 senses at a slower pace.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"This is our kind of vacation...relaxing, rustic with all the comforts-clean and well accomodated".

Also, we do not have a sewer system like those in a city. We have a conventional septic tank.

Absolutely Perfect

This was our first time using VRBO. My husband and I chose the TreeHaven for our first vacation as a family of three, with our 2 year old son and two dogs. I immediately fell in love with Sally. With the stress of packing up a family of 3, I mixed up the dates and we arrived a day early. Sally, being the wonderful woman she is, accommodated us at the last minute, even though she had friends staying at the cabin. All I can say is, that is truly the most kind thing we've had somebody do for us.

Now for the cabin... WOW! The most stunning views of the lake through fully wooded scenery. The cabin was spotless with beautiful woodwork throughout. Everything we could ever need was provided for us - from dinnerware to grilling utensils, booster seats to DVD's, night lights, a clothesline, you name it! We immediately felt at home. The beds were so comfortable. We didn't put a leash on our dogs once. We walked the grounds every day, saw beautiful white-tailed doe, and have photos and memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

Zeke dropped by to deliver a lifejacket for our toddler - they really were so thoughtful in every sense of the word. We took our son on the paddle boat. It was immaculately kept, and immediately brought me back to my own childhood in Crivitz. It was a short and beautiful drive to town.

We really couldn't have asked for a better experience, or better people. We plan to come back in the fall and make this a tradition. If you are looking for a cabin, stop now. This is better than anything else out there. It's another world of beauty, and Sally and Zeke are above and beyond!

Thank you, Sally and Zeke! We can't wait to see you again.

Absolutely perfect!

This setting was all we had hoped for and more. We all had a blast and hated to leave. In the early morning my wife and I would sit out on the back porch/deck with our coffee watching the woods and lake until our kids would come to life. We spent the days fishing, swimming, tubing, and relaxing. Evenings were spent around the fire pit by the lake having a few drinks and enjoying family conversation and company and the star filled sky. The rustic cabin, which is stocked much better than we would have expected, and secluded location were a perfect fit for us. The lakefront is very nice and the water is shallow enough for quite a distance that some nice panfish were caught by just wading out from the shore with a rod and reel. Eagles were seen often and sometimes in a tree overlooking the dock. Sally checked in with us a few times and was helpful and delightful to talk to. We met Zeke before we left and enjoyed talking with him as well. We were already planning on coming back long before we left. Thanks to Sally and Zeke for such a great cabin and the fantastic week we had.

We'd go back!

  • 5 of 5

Secluded, clean, and scenic.

Perfect fall trees with canopy of green and yellow leaves give you the privacy anyone would want yet 10 minute drive to the main highway. Found some treasures at the local antique store and visited Veteran Falls (small but pretty). Owner was friendly. The cabin has all the kitchen necessities and a charcoal grill outside (bring charcoal). Fire pit is just down the hill at the small lake access area. Screened porch would be perfect if it was a rainy day. It had a foosball table which we reminisced playing a few games. We would return.

Thank you Sally.

Exceeded our Expectations!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, along with our 2 dogs, stayed here an early fall weekend. The pictures don't do the cabin justice. Such a remote and beautiful location, the cabin was immaculate, saw a few deer, and in the morning the sun filtered through the trees as you looked down to the water down the hill. So lovely by the shore. Close to Governor Thompson State Park, which was great for short to medium-length hikes. On Saturday afternoon it rained, but we just relaxed and had a fire inside (wood is already stocked and ready to go)! Wonderful hosts, wonderful getaway. We are coming back next year!

Great place to relax and unwind! 🐟

  • 5 of 5

This was our 3rd year spending a week at this peaceful getaway! Again....we had a wonderful time! A few highlights included the black bear who travelled through the yard (no more than 50 ft. from the back door). He spent what seemed to be five minutes staring at our black truck, but just enough time for us to watch! Very cool!

The fishing was awesome this year! We were catching good size pan fish right from the dock! We took the row boat out 100+ft. and added a mixture of Great sized perch, bluegill,

sunfish, small mouth bass.....all catch and release! They were biting on night crawler and bobber all day long! Hubby caught a "large" 2+lb. Large mouth bass on worm and bobber in 2 ft. of water on our last day......which again..... makes him the winner of the largest fish!!!!!

The weather was awesome, the mosquitoes were not bad (with spray 😎).

The Hilltop cabin has everything necessary for comfort. If you need anything else....Sally and Zeke (owners) are very helpful, knowledgeable about the surroundings, accommodating and friendly.

Sally and Zeke....THANK YOU for renting to us!!! We had a fantastic time! It gets harder to leave every year!!! Dogs have been sleeping since we left!!! They are exhausted!

Thank you again!
