If you're looking for a vacation away from crowds, noise and street lights, the Hilltop may be your answer. The cabin is located on a slight hill on 10 acres of hardwoods overlooking Lake Noquebay. The Hilltop is the only cabin on this property.
The surrounding woods are home to red fox, deer, porqupine, black bear, bald eagles, pileated woodpeckers and more critters. The 'backyard' is a natural nature retreat and exploration grounds.
The 500 feet of private shoreline has a grassy beach area. The shoreline is sandy and the water is ankle deep. Lake Noquebay is 2400 acres huge (about 1 mile by 3 miles) and has panfish, muskie, bass, northern pike and walleye. A lake map is at the cabin. A paddle boat is available for your usage and the public boat launch for your boat is 3 miles away.
The 1061 sq. ft. log sided cabin was originally built in 1978 and completely remodeled in 2001. The walls are all tongue-in-groove pine and carpeted except the kitchen and bathroom. The bathroom contains a handicapped shower.
For those with children, we encourage you to let them explore nature and develop a love and respect for it. There are many nature books in the cabin. For the adults, we encourage you to look at nature through a child's eyes. Enjoy the wildflowers, bugs, birds, snakes and frogs.
Marinette County is the 3rd largest county in Wisconsin and has 12 waterfalls. It is home to 22 county park systems which offer picnic areas, hiking, fishing, playgrounds and swimming, 9 golf courses, a disk golf park, and 6 local museums, including The Peshtigo Fire Museum.
In the nearby villages of Crivitz and Wausaukee, you'll find all that you need-grocery stores, banks, shops, antiques, restaurants, laundromats, bait shops and gas.
There is a 'brochure basket' in the cabin which has more information on rafting, horseback riding, water ski shows and more 'to do'.
In general, the Hilltop is a secluded get-away on 10 private acres for people and families who want nature, time outside and quiet. However, civilization is not far away and offers a host of new adventures for you. Yes, there is a night light.

My husband and I own a cabin at the end of the 2 mile long driveway. We spend about 60% of our time here fishing, hunting, reading, gardening and plain old sittin' back-the other 40% is spent at our home in Sheboygan county. Our oldest daughter and her husband live up the driveway and both work in Crivitz. If a need arises while you're vacationing, there's usually someone available 24/7.
Sally purchased this cabin in 2000
We had looked at properties on other lakes and didn't like how the houses were crammed in. Thankfully through friends, we heard about our property in 1974. 'Hilltop' was originally owned by my father from 2000-2002 at which time we inherited it. Since we enjoyed the north shore, space and purity, we decided to share our good fortune with others and use the Hilltop as a rental. Personally, I have many fond memories of 'going up north' with my family as a child and just want to provide that same opportunity for others.
I love watching the eagles. There are 2 nests-one is right off the driveway (Harold and Maude) and the other is behind our house ( Dragwood and Blondie). Whether they are perched in a tree watching the activity on the lake, gliding on the wind, teaching their young to fly or making goo goo eyes at each other during mating season, they are regal.
The cabin itself is 'basic'. Extremely comfortable and warm, but uncluttered with electronics. During your stay, enjoy using your 5 senses at a slower pace.
"This is our kind of vacation...relaxing, rustic with all the comforts-clean and well accomodated".
This was our 3rd year spending a week at this peaceful getaway! Again....we had a wonderful time! A few highlights included the black bear who travelled through the yard (no more than 50 ft. from the back door). He spent what seemed to be five minutes staring at our black truck, but just enough time for us to watch! Very cool!
The fishing was awesome this year! We were catching good size pan fish right from the dock! We took the row boat out 100+ft. and added a mixture of Great sized perch, bluegill,
sunfish, small mouth bass.....all catch and release! They were biting on night crawler and bobber all day long! Hubby caught a "large" 2+lb. Large mouth bass on worm and bobber in 2 ft. of water on our last day......which again..... makes him the winner of the largest fish!!!!!
The weather was awesome, the mosquitoes were not bad (with spray 😎).
The Hilltop cabin has everything necessary for comfort. If you need anything else....Sally and Zeke (owners) are very helpful, knowledgeable about the surroundings, accommodating and friendly.
Sally and Zeke....THANK YOU for renting to us!!! We had a fantastic time! It gets harder to leave every year!!! Dogs have been sleeping since we left!!! They are exhausted!
Thank you again!

This was our first stay at Hilltop. We began planning our next stay after our first night there. It was everything Sally described. Peaceful, quiet and private. We had a great time fishing, hiking and just relaxing. Owners Sally and Zeke were very nice. Thank You for a great weekend!!
This was our 2nd vacation to "The Hilltop Cabin". What a great place to relax, swim and enjoy nature. Fishing was productive and now were hooked!
Owners are very knowledgeable regarding the area and habitat.........and friendly!
Dogs are happily exhausted.
This was the perfect place we were looking for to bring our dog. It is so secluded that Trapper (dog) didn't bark much at all. Plus he played fetch in the Lake so much that by the middle of the week he was too tired to go more than a couple of times. The week we picked was so nice and hot it felt good to go swimming in the lake. The kids enjoyed the paddle boat, and playing catch in the water. Even though it was hot outside, the house had natural air conditioning being under all the trees. The power went out one night, and Sally's husband came by to make sure we were ok and brought us some extra candles. Overall this was a very relaxing vacation, and we will definitely recommend this place to all of our family and friends who want to just get away from it all. Thank you Sally!
This was our first time at hilltop cabin. What a comfortable, private, relaxing time we had!
Felt like we were "off the grid" even though we were surrounded by beauty, nature and as much or little cell phone and computer if we wanted. We had rain, mostly at night but the days were beautiful!
Our dog is exhausted from countless hours of fetch in the lake.
The owner Sally provided and communicated everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The pictures provided in this ad are accurate to what you will find. We will strongly consider another vacation at this cabin next summer. Great place, Great time!
We were so pleased with this selection. If you are looking for a family reatreat into the nature this is a must. Great, and I mean great secluded location, tons of privacy with a very nice and clean lake and forest access right from the cottage, a perfect combination for nature lovers. Swimming was great for our young ones, sandy and shallow bottom within the pier length. Caught lots of bluegills straight out from our lake access (~200 yards). Overall great experience!
I can't say enough about the owner, Sally is such a nice and helpful person.
In the area there are weekly water ski shows, 3 public golf courses, museums, 12 waterfalls in Marinette County, horseback riding, public beaches on many of the lakes, public boat launches and shopping. There are many brochures and maps at the cabin for your use.
