Big Pine Key Mobile Home Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms , 1 full bath, sleeps 4 (one queen & one full)

This great 2 bedroom mobile home (with completely re-modeled/upgraded kitchen) is situated in a terrific private community "off the main tourist path" with your own personal dock on a 20ft. deep swimming canal (No Boats) which leads directly into the Gulf of Mexico. Right outside the cozy screened-in lanai is a private courtyard/sunning area complete with privacy fence and stone pavers which lead to the large white cement dock complete with a new stainless steel swimming ladder. There is also another tanning/lounging area with lounges, chairs and a small outside table-set right on the dock. The property is nicely landscaped (very tropical), has a fenced-in yard with parking for two cars. This is a beautiful place to spend cold winter months basking in the warm Florida sunshine, and relaxing ('Conch style') in a scenic water front setting.

Location: You are/would be equal distance between Key West and Marathon Key; 30 minutes either way! Atlantic Ocean on one side.......Gulf of Mexico on the other, about 2-3 miles apart; you won't find that in any other place except in The Keys!! You will truly be in 'The Conch Republic'!

Water access: SKUBA, snorkeling, mangrove tours, Key Deer Statuary, ship wreck sites, great night life, FRESH seafood galore, kayaking, seaplane to the Fort on Dry Tortugas Nat'l Park, drive to the Dolphin Research Center, utilize Looe Key Dive Center, Bahia Honda State Park, visit Theater of The Sea, the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum, the Hemingway House ...................all of this is readily available to you; plus 'maybe' a chance to see The Blue Angels Air Show at the U.S. Naval Station at Boca Chica Key. Do you need more???

Don't forget that the 4-star restaurants, tourist shops, famous pubs, street entertainers, the Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square...or watching a Keys sunset from a charter sail boat, are all available in Key West. This (and more) is only 30 minutes away from your little 'piece of tropical paradise'!!

About Tom Kaucic

*I finally left the fridged winters of Michigan for good, and I'm now a "full time" Floridian :-)

Tom Kaucic purchased this mobile home in 2005

Why Tom Kaucic chose Lower Florida Keys

After visiting The Keys for 15yrs. I decided to buy my own 'piece of paradise'. I chose this spot because of its location in the Lower Keys, privacy, availability of water sports/activities, fishing, scuba-diving and it's great potential for life-style improvements!

Hi folks, I had my 5th visit to Little Torch Key and my second stay at the Lazy Lobster and I'm booked to return in the spring. I love the Lobster, ideal location, neighbors, comfortable, relaxing. Tom has been excellent to communicate and deal with, can't say enough. Many upgrades to the Lobster make us really feel at home. See you in the Spring.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much Rob for taking the time to give such a good review of the Lazy Lobster! It has always been my goal to make my guests "feel at home". Glad you liked all the many upgrades to the kitchen, living-room, bedrooms and flooring! Just got back from there on Sunday.....did a couple of "finishing touches" in the master bedroom. :-)

Exactly what I was looking for

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the Lazy lobster for the month of May. This was my 5th vacation in the Little Torch Key/ Big Pine area so I was already familiar with the local attractions. Key West, Geiger Beach, Bahia Honda, etc. The Lazy Lobster was a perfect spot to relax and make my own for the month. Although my schedule did not alow me to meet Tom we communicated via email of phone. Tom was always available and accomidating. However i met all the neighbors, Sharon, Ray, Charlotte, who made us feel right at home. also asking if there was anything we needed. Ray also invited us access through his yards to launch our kayaks in the sea access canal. Now planning my return trip next year. Rob

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

The Lazy Lobster is the kind of place you can settle in to right away and feel cozy and comfortable. Tom has decorated his place delightfully, and it has everything a couple needs to enjoy a long stay in the keys. We especially enjoyed lounging by the canal and having an evening glass of wine, while watching the fish and birds. Biking was great- both short rides around the neighborhood and long rides into Middle and Big Torch keys. We played around in our kayak in the neighborhood canals and also swam in the canal a few times though the water was chilly.

The Wi-Fi was very fast and worked all over the property. TV had lots of channels including the sports channels we like. Electric grill on porch was convenient and easy to use. Bed was comfy, shower great, towels plush. Bahia Honda State Park with the best beach in the keys was a short drive away and Key West was only about a 40 minute drive. We also enjoyed the big Sat-Sun Flea market on Big Pine (good for produce), and Bagel Island became a routine stop for us. There is a lot to explore in the lower keys and the Lazy Lobster is a great home base. Tom was totally available by phone or email and is a wonderful landlord. We hope to visit again in the future.

Best value and hope to be back very soon!

Tom has made a small piece of paradise to share with his guests. Don't be fooled by the image of this property as "just a trailer", he has renovated and improved this property to have all necessary amenities. We really enjoyed out time relaxing on his spacious screened porch and along the swimming canal. Tom has keen eye for detail and a well tuned sense of island decorating...everywhere you look he has added well placed and well though tropical island decor. Just as well thought are his renovations to the property, where he seems to make appropriate and articulate use of space to make a charming and comfortable place for guests to stay. With so many amenities it is hard to mention them all!-Shaded outdoor patio, outdoor grill, fenced in yard, storage shed for snorkeling/scuba/bicycles/whatever you may have brought!, free boat ramp and parking less than a mile away, highspeed wifi, cable tv, swimming canal just steps from the front door, My fiancé and I brought our jetski and spent most of our time lobstering nearby, also fresh fish and amazingly good keys shrimp can be purchased nearby on Cudjoe key at the Lower Keys Fisheries ...our own fresh lobster rolls, grilled hogfish and lobster tails! Without the amenities Tom provided we would have never properly enjoyed this bounty. I also cannot fail to mention the high standards of cleanliness his housekeeper maintains, she is also very personable and gave us wonderful suggestions for local eateries! I know it won't be soon enough but we will certainly return to the Lazy Lobster... Thank you so much Tom!

Fun times!

  • 5 of 5

Really cute, tastefully done with great outside area. We had a great time at the Lazy Lobster, the location was perfect for us, easy drive to Key West, Bahia Honda, and Marathon. We had our boat with us and there is a free boat ramp a few blocks away which was easy to use, we spent a lot of time on the boat going to picnic island and fishing. We traveled with our 11 yr old and 4 year old and the space was fine, we loved the porch and that the kids could swim in the canal out back. We will be back, thank you Tom, you were a pleasure to rent from!!

Land of the very lazy lobster

  • 4 of 5

Tropical, Cozy & Fun vacation home summarize perfectly the experience you will have at the Lazy Lobster. We are Canadians and this was our first trip to Florida and were very pleased with the accommodations. The Bahi Honda beach was one of our favourite beaches and if you can time the trip with no wind from the East you will be amazed with this beach. We did the Looe Key snorkelling trip which was fantastic, chased sharks and had a school of Tarpon (100 to 200 lbs) swim right through us. Went Charter fishing at Key West with a 3rd generation fisherman and caught 4 Dolphin (Mahi Mahi or Dorado) and one was almost 40 lbs. Tom, who we never met was always available through his cell phone if we had any questions or confers. Tom likes to talk. The Internet service was very good which we used often due to roaming fees that hit Canadians hard so we would all send pictures of the days events once we got back to the Lazy Lobster. My wife really had a good laid back holiday so I know we will come back in the future. The Florida Keys are a fisherman's/boaters paradise and we will return.

Owner's Response: Just like Mark and his will find the Lazy Lobster, and the "Lower" Florida Keys amazing! My property truly is both tropical....and cozy, but also very close to so many attractions for your vacationing pleasure. After you enjoy the beach, the snorkeling @ Looe Key, and maybe deep sea fishing.......why not try Sky-diving; it's FANTASTIC and only a few Keys away!! Tom
