FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Is the apartment noisy?

The apartment is on the main street, Cortland Avenue, and we are in the city. City life happens. The apartment has double glazed windows and insulated walls to cut down on noise, and it does help. Noise tolerance is very personal and highly subjective to the individual’s comfort zone. Most of our guests do not have a problem with street noise, even babies and toddlers have slept soundly throughout the night in our apartment! If you are a very light sleeper or highly sensitive to any noise, then this is not the right place for you.

2. Why do you charge an extra $80 cleaning fee?

The cleaning fee is a one-time charge to clean the apartment after you check out. It is a fair market rate by San Francisco standard. We take pride in delivering a clean, sanitized and comfortable apartment to each guest staying with us.

3. Why do I need to sign a rental agreement with you?

The rental agreement is a standard document that I require all my guests to acknowledge and sign, so that we are on the same page and have no cause for any misunderstanding. Different hosts have their own way of doing things to ensure a safe environment for themselves and their guests. I find it useful as a communication tool to make sure all is good and agreeable before the guests check in. This is also one way to gauge the sincerity of complete strangers coming into our home.

4. Is there parking available?

There is ample free street parking on our side of Cortland Avenue. It is not a problem to find parking either just outside or near the apartment.

5. What is your refund policy?

An upfront deposit equivalent to one night’s stay is required to reserve the apartment. The balance payment is due one month before arrival date. You can cancel your reservation at any time, provided that you notify us one month before your check in date to get your initial deposit back. If the check in date is less than a month away, then a full payment is required to book the apartment. No refunds will be issued for last minute cancellations.

6. Can 4 adults stay in your apartment?

NO. Our listing clearly states the maximum occupancy is 3 adults, or 2 adults with 2 small children under 10 years old.

7. Are babies and toddlers welcome?

Yes of course! Just a few things to consider: The apartment is essentially meant for two adults, so we are not equipped for infants and toddlers i.e. no child proofing and no bathtub, only a small shower stall. This might be something to think about with infants and young children.

8. Is my baby/toddler considered a third person?

We are happy to waive the third person charge for children under 12 months old. Extra person charge applies for everyone older than 1 year old.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We spent a very enjoyable week in this apartment which was well appointed and perfect in every way.

Prior to our arrival we received lots of helpful information on travel routes to the apartment. Although our arrival time was very late at night Lisa was there waiting to welcome us and show us around the apartment.

The apartment's proximity to public transport was ideal for exploring this beautiful city, an added bonus being that Bernal Heights missed much of the fog which affected the downtown areas.

Lisa was a most attentive host and was readily available and happy to answer any queries we had.

We would definitely recommend this apartment and would love to stay there again on any future visits to San Francisco.

Super comfy, well-appointed, great loacation!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed this apartment! It's furnished very tastefully and modern. Great instructions are provided for everything. The kitchen was well stocked with the basics for cooking (spices, oils, etc.). There were tons of guides and maps for the city. The wifi worked perfectly and was very fast. The location of the unit is ideal for San Francisco. Lots of restaurants, coffee shops and little grocery stores within walking distance and only a $6-12 Uber fee to go to any of the touristy places. I highly recommend staying here!

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Great experience staying at Lisa's apartment! Friendly and welcoming landlord/landlady :)! The apartment is cosy and clean with easy access to the city on public transport. Information to get about is on hand and if not, there is free wi-fi available to google for more on your iPad. Eateries up and down the street for meals closer to "home" and grocery shops for ingredients to make some home cooked food in a well equipped kitchenette. And if you want a great view of the city (almost 360 degree), just hike up the hill behind the apartment! The view up Coit Tower pales in comparison. Would recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable, affordable place close to the city.

Great place to stay on Cortland

  • 4 of 5

The description of property was very accurate. Property was very clean and well maintained. Lisa was a great hostess. This property is close to a grocery store and lots of restaurants. All in a short walk. We stayed in this area because we have family a few blocks from Cortland. I will stay here again. I would recommend this to any one who wants to be in this area. This is a nice area to stay in when in San Francisco.

Feeling like being "at home" in San Francisco

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Lisa´s apartment was just perfect. She was welcoming us with tips about San Francisco and the area, the apartment was cosy and very clean - perfect. We immediately took a walk through Bernal Heights down to the mission district and really loved this neighborhood and area.

We would recommend Lisa´s apartment to everybody who wants to stay close to the city center and feel like being at home while staying in this wonderful city. Thank you very much Lisa!

Great place.

  • 5 of 5

Everything was great during our stay. The apartment was very clean and organized. Lisa was a wonderful host, she gave a good booklet with information about the best places to go in each neighbourhood. The bus (24? not sure if I remember correctly) stops right in front of the place and is super easy.

Oh! do check out the breakfast place down the street, delicious food!!

Lovely place! I highly recommend it!

FAQ

Is the apartment noisy?
The apartment is on the main street, Cortland Avenue, and we are in the city. City life happens. The apartment has double glazed windows and insulated walls to cut down on noise, and it does help. Noise tolerance is very personal and highly subjective to the individual’s comfort zone. Most of our guests do not have a problem with street noise, even babies and toddlers have slept soundly throughout the night our apartment! If you are a very light sleeper or highly sensitive to any noise, then this is not the right place for you.

We are on the main street and we are in the city, so yes, there is city life. There’s nothing much I can do about it except to make sure the windows are double-glazed and the walls are insulated in the apartment.

Why do you charge an extra $80 cleaning fee?
The cleaning fee is a one-time charge to clean the apartment after you check out. It is a fair market rate by San Francisco standard. We take pride in delivering a clean and comfortable apartment to each guest staying with us. Every time a guest checks out, the apartment is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized for the next new guest. This takes time and money to hire the right person to do the job well.

Why do I need to sign a rental agreement with you?
The rental agreement is a standard document that I require all my guests to acknowledge and sign, so that we are on the same page and have no cause for any misunderstanding. AirBnB only handles the fee transaction and is not responsible nor do they own my property. Different hosts have their own way of doing things to ensure a safe environment for themselves and their guests. I find it useful as a communication tool to make sure all is good and agreeable before the guests check in. This is also one way to gauge the sincerity of complete strangers coming into our home.
