Franklin House Rental Photos and Description

Private visit in full living space, 2 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, decks, pool, gazebo

**SUZANNE FITCH in Leiper's Fork. POOL + PRIVACY + LOCATION + MAGIC.....just 7 miles from both Franklin & Leiper's Fork. Email Suzanne to arrange your personal visit to her home and workshop!!**

'sophisticated whimsey, contemporary tradition, functional art'

The above quote is the way I describe my handpainted decorative art furniture. Recently I realized that it perfectly describes my home as well. When I purchased the property, all who came to visit said it was meant for me.....truly an artist's magical home on a hilltop in the woods, complete with pool and tiki bar and a bomb for a weathervane.

I knew from the start that the property was so special that it was meant to be shared, which I do with family and friends. The layout also provides me the opportunity to offer the property to visitors who want to visit my studio, small home gallery, and just ENJOY THE PROPERTY and NEIGHBORHOOD in general.

The drive up a long, sometimes bumpy, gravel driveway in the shadow of the woods is an adventure in itself. My granddaughter, Annabelle, recently remarked, 'Suzy, are we in the forest?!' Well, the deer certainly think so; they frequent the driveway as much as I do.

The house is fairly simple from the front as it is built from a barn kit. Once inside the front door, the magic begins with a large handpainted armoire that looks like it was painted into the house. There are vaulted ceilings, posts and beams, light fixtures that look as though they are from a castle, a window seat with a zebra covered cushion, a stone fireplace with a 'fish' stone at its center, and antique wallpaper and tile in the kitchen.

Out the back door is more magic... a screened gazebo with a bomb weathervane and a curvy multi-level deck which ends with a pool and tiki bar. Recently added are deck rails built of bamboo and cedar from the property, a small kitchen porch that steps down to a sand-floored sitting area, a wooden deck/pavilion on top of the hill in the garden from which you can watch sunsets and sunrises. Oh, and there's a new outdoor shower!

Photos of the new additions will be posted when weather permits.

All this in a completely private setting in the woods. There are no curtains! There are trees to watch dance, birds to look at and use as alarm clocks, the hoot of owls, deer and turkey that roam freely.

As you can see, this is not your 'city' house even though it has all the conveniences, and it's 3 minutes from a grocery, wine store, and restaurants, as well as 7 minutes to Franklin or Leiper's Fork. It's furnished with my personal belongings, including a sprinkling of handpainted furniture.

As guests, you'll have private use of the room, dining room, kitchen, and half bath on the main floor; 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with a double bed, as well as a full bath, on the 2nd floor. The decks and pool are for guests private use well.

When I have guests, I reside in an apartment in my barn which is down the hill from the house and which also houses a brand new workshop for my painting business. I may need to retrieve some supplies from the basement of the main house, but the basement has it's own private access.

Bring your sense of humor and your sense of wonder. Visit Franklin for it's history and wonderful downtown stores; visit Leiper's Fork for unique galleries and my furniture showroom. The community of Westhaven, a mile away, is thriving, with a nice choice of restaurants. And there is WONDERFUL live music all around!

About Suzanne Fitch

After owning retail stationery stores - 2 states/3 cities- for 23 years, I have 'retired' to focus solely on my Handpainted Decorative Art Furniture business. My furniture is represented in galleries nationally, as well as in my showroom in Leiper's Fork. I have a wonderful new studio/workshop in my barn on the property which provides a perfect setting for being creative. I'm happy that I can offer you visits to the studio to watch the process. There is even the possibility of lessons.

Suzanne Fitch purchased this house in 2001

Why Suzanne Fitch chose Tennessee

The property is my home which I purchased in 2001. In the winter of 2000, I visited Leiper's Fork for the first time. Even in the grey of winter, the land held its arms out to me. I rented a small house in the village of Leiper's Fork, traveled back and forth from Kentucky every weekend, and at the end of a year I decided to stay. My story is really that 'I came to Leiper's Fork for lunch and never went home.'

During my rental year in the village, I sold my remaining retail store and home in Kentucky and began looking for a permanent home in the Leiper's Fork area. When my friend, Martha, and I first set foot in the front door, we knew this was the house for me!!!!

What makes this house unique

The house and property have such a wonderful story that it was featured in an article in the WilliamsonAM. You can read the article by going to my website's WORKSHOP page. There are lots of pictures there, and more information about my furniture business.

As far as the house goes, having a 'bomb' for a weathervane seems pretty unique as does the pool with tiki bar that sits in the midst of the woods. You can't come visit and not smile. One group of guests asked to borrow saws so they could cut down bamboo both to make things and to take home. I'm sure there will be other such stories.

Another benefit to the property is the location. While completely private on 11 curtains here, by the is 3 minutes to a grocery/wine store/restaurants, 7 minutes to Franklin, and 7 minutes to Leiper's Fork. The best of all worlds.

A Little Piece of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was nothing short of AMAZING! The property is so secluded you'd never know you were 3 minutes away from civilization. There wasn't a thing that our host Suzanne hadn't thought of, including dishes, cookware, linens, and all of the staples we needed for meal preparation. She knows the area thoroughly and helped us with much-needed information we couldn't get from our GPS. Although the temperatures were too cold to swim, the pool was pristine and beautiful to look at. The home is truly "one-of-a-kind" and the rooms have been decorated with comfortable and eclectic furnishings. Only our busy schedules have kept us from returning (we're from Alabama), but our hope is to make another visit before too long.

country Relaxation

  • 4 of 5

We had the best time reconnecting with each other by soaking up the seclusion for this unique home. The owner is sweet and made us feel like this was our home for the two days we were there. The pool and deck space is amazing for total privacy. We fell in love with the area and can't wait to come back. Would recommend this place for a couple retreat.

Owner's Response: Isaac, I'm so glad that all your planning worked perfectly, and I'm honored that you chose my home for your special weekend. I look forward to your return and to meeting Victoria. Suzanne ps...there are a few lingering rose petals which I've decided are a perfect addition to the property......something else about it that makes me smile.

Relaxing getaway!

  • 5 of 5

I had promised my nephew a getaway to relax and adventure for two Christmases, but the closer I came to retirement, the less cooperative management became in allowing me access to my vacation benefits. Finally! Retirement arrived in the fall of 2014, and we were able to plan out trip. Here we are now at Suzanne's lovely home, hidden in the woods just outside Leiper's Fork. Was this destination worth our wait? Absolutely!Suzanne is a charming hostess who has provided for all our needs and surprised us with many unexpected kudos. Her home is a delicious mix of genre, featuring pieces from her own collections along with lovely antiques. The house does have well water, but bottled water is abundantly provided. The furnishings are comfortable; the kitchen is well-stocked. The pool and patio areas are delightful. I have traveled a great deal during my career, but I find Suzanne's home to be exceptional value, especially for those who want to step out of the rat race and slow down the pace. If you want hi tech this spot isn't for you. If you like something that appeals to your imagination and sense of adventure while offering rest, recouperation, conversation and laughter, you may find it here with Suzanne. We did!

Cabin fit for an artist

  • 5 of 5

Suzanne was a GREAT host with a truly unique and amazing property. Completely secluded yet minutes from the treasures of Franklin and Leapers Fork. Surrounded by woods . . . relaxing and grilling poolside. . . we couldn't have spent a better long holiday weekend - could have stayed forever. The cabin is beautifully appointed with comfortable furnishings, antiques and Suzanne's hand painted treasures. Everywhere you look are items reflecting the history of the cabin. Suzanne made us feel completely at home the minute we topped the hill. We wouldn't hesitate a return trip and highly recommend.
