Our beachy, air-conditioned cape is the perfect setting for a relaxing family vacation. We just finished renovating our first floor, including kitchen, dining room, living room, and bathroom and it looks great! Enjoy water views from the third floor turret, clam off the community dock, use our kayaks in Salt Pond, and let the kids ride their bikes around this quiet, safe neighborhood. You’ll be minutes from some of Rhode Island's best beaches: Scarborough (1 mile), Roger M. Wheeler (1.5 miles), and Narragansett Town Beach (4 miles). Local restaurants offer fresh seafood and traditional Rhode Island favorites, like chowder and clamcakes. The Block Island Ferry is only two minutes away. Best of all, Narragansett is a relatively quiet beach community without a touristy feel. It's a great place to relax and unwind, soak up the summer sun, or enjoy a beautiful fall weekend.
I grew up in the northern part of Rhode Island, but spent many fun-filled days at the Narragansett beaches as a child. My husband, Chris, is from the Philly area, where we lived when we were newly married. Much to my delight, he fell in love with Narragansett and we began renting there for a week each summer. We hoped to someday buy a place of our own...and finally, we did! In 2010 we were living in Shanghai, China on an expat assignment for Chris' job, now with two children. We found Green Acres online and instantly knew it was the place for us. After China, we lived in Sydney, Australia for two years and loved having a place of our own to come back to while we were expats. We've been back in the States for a year now and are enjoying getting to spend more time at the house. Our children, now 9 and 11, love the neighborhood, spending time at the dock clamming and crabbing, and kayaking in Point Judith Pond.
Danielle Foley purchased this house in 2010
The Sunset Shores neighborhood is small and located off Point Judith Road in a tiny little enclave bordering Point Judith Pond. It's very quiet and peaceful. The houses are well-kept due to the many year-round residents. There isn't a 'rental feel' in the neighborhood, which makes for a very relaxed atmosphere. Going down to the dock to read, clam, catch crabs or take in the view makes for a wonderful after-beach activity, and sometimes takes the place of going to the beach at all for us! It is nice to have that additional entertainment option with the kids.
--Point Judith Pond--great for kayaking, floating on a raft, crabbing, and clamming
--Third floor turret--a nice place to watch the sunset, enjoy the breeze, and read
--Great backyard--Weber grill, shaded area, nice for small get-togethers
--Spacious master bedroom--room to spread out; adjoining office with a door is a great place for a baby to sleep in a pack-and-play
--two-zone central air-conditioning
We had a wonderful time this past weekend in RI. The weather was fabulous. Thank you for allowing us to rent your house. We thought your house by the Sea was spectacular and was perfect for our needs. We even barbecued one evening.
Again, it was perfect for our needs for graduation weekend. We did not use the washer/dryer or the kayaks or bikes. The dishes in the dishwasher are clean and trash was placed by curb and picked up Monday morning. Any remaining trash we placed in cans outside.
We embraced the culture of RI visiting Newport, Block Island, and eating at Champlins in Galilee and Turtle Soup at the Rose Tree Inn. We even purchased steaks and burgers from the local farm. I left a little note in the guest book, but wanted to follow up via email.
Thanks again and have a wonderful summer! We would definitely consider renting from you again, should we visit RI in the future.
This place is even better than the pictures! The interior is just beautiful and the grounds are equally lovely. The neighborhood is quiet and we had a few conversations with neighbors who were very friendly. We rented this place to host a "tea party" bridal shower for my sister and a few relatives. We held it in the back yard and everyone was just oo-ing and ah-ing over the place. I think I have a few relatives who would love to rent it in the future. We didnt get to use the kayaks (too bad I just ran out of time) but the short walk to the water was a huge bonus. Loved being able to hear the ferry horns (not too loud by the way). The Turret room was an INCREDIBLE hit. My sister (the bride to be) immediately claimed that room for herself and we put an air mattress up at the top for her. The kitchen is well equipped and stocked (something other rentals my family has been in do not always have) We would be back again in a heartbeat. Danielle was great to work with, even checking in with us to see if we needed the AC on. PS Recommend Salty's Landing in Galilee for a quick bite (it is a "beach stand" but really so much more than that- breakfast sandwiches, burgers, stellar fish tacos, wraps, lobster rolls etc, we have been repeat customers there for a few years, but new management this year was even better than normal. Plus you can sit by the beach/channel and watch the boats. Thank you Danielle.
Stayed in this beautiful home for my graduation from URI college of pharmacy. My entire family including my grandparents were able to stay comfortably in this house. The house had everything we needed and we loved being able to cookout and celebrate at the house. My sisters loved the turret and we all enjoyed the charming seaside decor. We spent the afternoons by the water looking for horseshoe crabs and fish. We had a lovely dinner in Gailee and ice cream at Brickleys. The backyard and neighborhood were quiet and peaceful. I could not recommend this house enough! We could not have asked for a better place to stay for a wonderful weekend. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you Danielle for the perfect beautiful cottage for our family over our daughter's wedding weekend. After seeing this darling cottage, my daughter
changed her plans from getting ready at her own home to dressing at the cottage. We took wedding pictures there as well as it is such a cute place. The kitchen is beautifully updated and has everything you need to prepare a nice meal. Danielle was so accommodating for a few special requests!!! Having this cottage honestly was one of our best wedding decisions!! I can only imagine how fun it would be to stay in summer. The house has 3 levels, with the top turret being our favorite special spot to lookout to the ocean in the distance. We saw a little wildlife in our brief time there as well. Our weather was pleasant. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!
We stayed in Danielle's beautiful RI home for 3 nights as part of our Easter break. I can't fault it whatsoever - beautiful setting close enough to Providence to take in a Bruins hockey game but far enough away that you feel away from it all. Idyllic setting by the water and only 5 mins from the beach. The house itself was fabulous with amazing views from what our kids affectionately named 'the lookout tower'. Stunning first floor master suite and lovely open plan downstairs withe everything you could ever need. Communication from Danielle was swift and with comprehensive information about the local area. We're sure to return in future and wholeheartedly recommend for your next break! Thanks!
We had a lovely stay at the Foley's beach home. Upon arrival the house was spotless and we were able to easily set-up and get comfortable. There are 3 beds as listed and 2 couches, so the couches could be used as additional sleeping arrangements to make the 8, or an aerobed could be set-up in one of the extra rooms upstairs. The lookout tower has a great view of the water, but you can easily take the short stroll to the dock for a better view out towards Matunuck. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will always remember Narragansett, as the location we got engaged , and hope to make it back in the future!
The cottage has great water pressure and nice hot water which was quite necessary after completing the Ocean State Marathon. There are also lots of fun games for kids in the TV cabinet and a nice deck, patio, and backyard for cooking out. There are lots of good restaurants in Narragansett, we visited the Coast Guard House and ChopHouseGrille for dinner. The Coast Guard House was very romantic and the food was great, the ChopHouse Grille was delicious but the service was a bit slow the night we went. Additionally we tried Crazy Burger for Breakfast which is a must try. The food was hot, delicious, and came out in about 5 minutes.
The Foley's were very responsive to emails and requests, and very easy to work with.
Come and experience the laid-back charm of Narragansett, RI from our 3 bedroom, 2 bath cape. Enjoy water views from the third floor turret, fish and clam off the community dock, or let the kids ride their bikes around this quiet, safe neighborhood. You’ll be minutes from some of Rhode Island's best beaches: Scarborough (1 mile), Roger M. Wheeler (1.5 miles), and Narragansett Town Beach (4 miles). Local restaurants offer the freshest seafood and traditional Rhode Island favorites, like chowder and clamcakes. The Block Island Ferry is only two minutes away. Best of all, Narragansett is a relatively quiet beach community, and you won’t need to worry about getting a parking space at the beach. It's a perfect spot to relax, unwind and soak up the summer sun.
