The Schooner Coast House is located along the shore of Lake Michigan known as the Schooner Coast that runs from Manitowoc to Sturgeon Bay. 100 years ago, this coast was dominated by the beautiful ships known as “schooners.” One of those ships was known as the Rouse Simmons ( also known as the fabled “Christmas Tree Ship” ) whose captain Herman Schuenemann was born nearby in Algoma. Today Algoma is famous for its sport fishing.
With easy access to Door County and Green Bay, you have a lot of activities to choose from all year long. Nearby attractions include Von Stiehl Winery; Lambeau Field is approximately a 30 minute drive and the shrine of “Our Lady of Good Help” one of 12 sites worldwide and the only one in the United States recognized by the Vatican as a site visited by The Virgin Mary. (approximately 14 miles down K)
The house has 100 feet of private pebble beach with beautiful views of Lake Michigan. You can enjoy a quiet evening on the spacious 16 x 48 foot deck.

Beautiful location - able to get to Green Bay easily - and 30-60 minutes to most Door County attractions. House was clean and the manager quickly helped with an issue with kitchen appliances.
Wifi worked as well as cable for TV.
Great location. Easily could sleep 6 as description states.
Huge deck, lots of space with access to the deck from the 2 bedrooms, it was a great getaway from the city to be right next to lake Michigan, starry nights, cool breeze on the beach. The night sky was so clear that you could see the many of the star constellations. I didn't want to go inside from the very dreamy open deck. The backyard is huge, with tall trees and a small private beach. It was perfect to grab a canvas, some colors, sit relaxed next to the beach and paint your imagination.
Only, we didn't know the house was too close to the road, it wasn't much of an issue once we saw the back of the house. The water in the bathrooms was a little hard, would have been nice it was easy on the body. The owner was very responsive when there were internet issues. Proximity to the Algoma beach and light house was a plus. Had fun at the beach with kids and the walk to the light house was great ! I would certainly recommend this property to my family and friends looking for a nice vacation!

We stayed for one week on our family vacation (we try to visit a different state each year). We found Wisconsin and the Lake Michigan area to be absolutely beautiful! The house was very well equipped for our family of 6. The water pressure in the downstairs bathroom was so low that we all showered upstairs. The mayflies were a huge issue the first couple of days ( we covered the upstairs window because they were getting in through there and covering the beds and walls and this helped a lot). The stairs are very steep and we had to keep the doors closed and inaccessible to our 2 year old.
The beach area was very small and clearing some of the tree growth on the shore would make this a much better place to sit and watch the sunset! The water was freezing (even in late June/early July) and only our teens were brave enough to get in the lake! Other than these minor quirks, we enjoyed the scenery and visiting this area. It was very peaceful and we enjoyed our trip to Lake Michigan and the relaxed atmosphere with our kids.
We had seven people in our family stay here. There was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen came equipped with everything we needed. We spent evenings and some afternoons around the fire pit which is right next to the water edge. The backyard was huge with enough room for us to play all kinds of outdoor games. The house is not air conditioned but it was so cool from the lake the house stayed very cool and comfortable.
Our son's fished every day and found several different spots to fish at. Our daughter and her boyfriend loved the "I'll be in the Garage Bar" in Algoma. There is plenty to do within a short drive or a person could spend a relaxing vacation by the water.
The people we rented from were very helpful and responded back to any questions I had in a short amount of time.
You can't beat the location on the Lakeshore! Enjoyed the Sunrises over Lake Michigan. We also enjoyed the large backyard, playing horseshoes during the day, and sitting by the Fire Pit at night. The house was very comfortable. It's also an easy, scenic drive into Green Bay for the football games. The townspeople of Algoma were very friendly and outgoing to us Southern Californians. By all means sample the Wisconsin Style Food at the local restaurants, especially Skaliwags!
