House, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 5)
I am a retired lecturer having lived in the UK all my working life. I met my wife in Ecuador and we decided to live in Salinas rather that the UK. We spend our mornings in Puerta Lucia Gym walking back and fore along the beach when possible. We have a great social life making friends with many Europeans who berth their boats at the club to carry out repairs. We have one small dog who lives outside as our watch dog and a daily walk along the beach is something he and us all look forward to. Salinas is a hugely popular resort that is expanding in line with the growth and popularity of the area. The city of Guayaquil is easily reached by Taxi, or modern buses, that travel regularly to and from Salinas. From Guayaquil you can take a short day trip to Quito or Cuenca to broaden your experience of the country.

Why Owner chose Salinas
Salinas is every bodies favourite weekend resort. It has everything for children including aqua park, paddle boats and long stretches of sandy beaches. My house is for me is a paradise and it is not difficult to imagine that other people will feel the same way. Before we came to live in Salinas we lived in Guayaquil where my wife has lived for many years, but found it too hot in the Summer season. Salinas, because of its sea breezes, is often 5 degrees cooler with considerably less rain. Most days are predictable (shorts and tee shirt). For this reason many people buy apartments here even if they only use them in the high season. To get to Guayaquil takes about an hour and a half, which offers excellent shopping malls with free parking. Great shopping opportunities and a huge variety of food courts and restaurants that make the trip worth while.
What makes this House unique
Being able to see and hear the ocean 24 hrs a day is in itself unique. To see herons diving for fish outside your home is an every day event (including leaping fish). Tropical birds have found their way to our Stanke to drink water from the miniature water fall and Humming birds are a regular visitor now that the garden is maturing. Further information can be sent by e-mail. For the health and welbeing of our on going guests, we do not allow smoking inside the house or permit shedding animals likely to cause allergies to unsuspecting guests.
Canceled bookings will not receive a refund
We have traveled all over the world and can say without hesitation that this house is wonderful. It was renovated and decorated as the home of a talented artist and every detail reflects her creativity. It is like a small piece of paradise overlooking the sea, filled with art and exotic plants . The gardens are breathtaking. The house is immaculate and John and Monina are wonderful and unobtrusive hosts. We highly reccommend it as a exquisite alternative for less than the price of most ordinary Salinis hotel rooms .
Sharing our home with appreciative and discerning people has become an investment in ‘friend production’. People fall in love with the house and its environs and reflect this in their smile and their manner, which becomes infectious. They say ‘a stranger is a friend you’ve yet to meet’ and Monina and I look forward to sharing our home with all those friends we have yet to meet.
UNFORGETTABLE NIGHTS AND ADVENTURE FILLED DAYS
With the sound of surf pounding on your window sill, you will sleep like a baby until the first rays of dawn awaken your desire to explore the surrounding countryside. Salinas is a great base for travelling along the coast to remote fishing villages, where the cost of a good seafood meal is less than a designer cup of coffee at Starbucks (US dollars are the medium of exchange). Come during the whale watching season and spend a day on the ocean getting up close and personal with these friendly leviathians. This home is beautiful, private, and romantic in a peacful garden atmosphere, perched on an embankment overlooking the ocean. It comes complete with all the comforts of home, including the resident canine, "Rocco", who for a small morsel of food will be your constant companion at no additional fee. Relax and enjoy like we did, and I'll bet you will soon be booking a return trip to this small slice of paradise.
Renting our home is an adventure for Monina and I. We are very pleased with our efforts to make people feel at home and exposed to the tranquility that our location has to offer, and we look forward to renewing our friendship in the coming seasons. As for rocco, (a Jack Russell terrier) he loves to play ball with children and adults, especially on the beach.
Dear John and Monina,
Just a quick note to thank you very much for letting us stay in your wonderful place in Salinas. We had a fantastic time and everything was just as we expected. We also had the surprise that the house had belonged in the past to friends of friends, and one night when a couple came to visit, our friend´s reaction was “oh my God…I grew in this house”.
We are quite tempted to make Salinas our Easter Week destination in the future…wonderful weather and the town has certainly progresses over the past 15 years.
A pity that we didn’t manage to get together for a chat but I hope there will be a next time soon.
Once again, many thanks for letting us enjoy your home.

On our first visit 4 years ago we saw the house mostly finished but with a few details still to be completed. Having just returned for a second visit we have found the house transformed into a peaceful haven away from the hustle and bustle of central Salinas.
The whole house has been decorated and furnished beautifully and tastefully, with all the modern comforts that we needed. The swimming pool is refreshing and cooling in the heat of the day and the patio lounge provides a lovely spot to have breakfast, dinner and drinks in the evening.
After the heat of Guayaquil the fresh breeze of the coast is a welcome relief and the weather here is perfect for us - hot in the daytime and fresh and comfortable in the night.
The house is well located, with the sea literally at the bottom of the garden and a short drive from all the main attractions of Salinas and the ruta del sol. There are many inviting little restaurants near by that serve fresh seafood and other Ecuadorian dishes. There are also a selection of international restaurants that serve pizza, hamburgers and even an English fish and chip shop, which was a nice surprise!
All in all, the house is fantastic, set in a stunning seaside location, with all the comforts of home and plenty of things to see and do nearby.
We are already looking forward to our next visit.
Me and my husband love to go to this house as often as we can, it’s just an amazing place, close to the beach with beautiful ocean views from the rooms, full of vegetation, flowers and a gorgeous waterfall feature in the front garden.
The house has an excellent location in Salinas, its close to the mall, restaurants and night clubs but far away from the noise, perfect for relaxation.
Also a very good thing about the location, that we always enjoy al lot, is the easy access that it has to the ruta del sol, Ayangue, Montanita ect its just 30 minutes away..
The owners are very nice people, always attending every detail of the house and making us feel very well treated.
We like it so much that last year we celebrated our civil wedding of 70 people here. It was perfect! The atmosphere is so cozy and beautiful that we did not have to spend to much in decoration… the service people that carried out the preparation were very helpful with everything that we needed
It is definitely an excellent place to stay for many different reasons and we continue to visit as often as we can.
