I have been meaning to write this review for a long time because we had such a wonderful trip here this summer! We drove across the country with our 4 young kids (aged 2-6) and wasn't sure what to expect as it's hard to image the place from the pictures. But from the moment we pulled in we loved it! First, the family is lovely and happy to help with anything you need - they welcomed us and showed us around. It is a bit removed from town, which made it so peaceful! It IS rustic, and certainly not for everyone, you aren't going to find anything new or modern here (no tv)...it's all about the charm and enjoying life! Our kids would run around all over the yard, we roasted marshmellows on the wood stove nightly, and after the kids went to bed my husband and I would sit out by the wood stove, with some wine, look at the stars...so peaceful, the only sounds would be that of the cows mooing! I wish I could upload some pictures as I have a bunch that would show off the property (happy to send to anyone interested).
We read the reviews, viewed the pictures and booked a stay. So we thought we would share our impressions. We drove down the dirt road turned into the cabin parked our car and got out. We were greeted by Gromit and Pendelton the two ranch dogs (Gromit is VERY large and intimidating) did I mention they are extremely friendly? We unloaded our black lab and watched as they did the dog things and then ignored each other. We unloaded our gear my wife thought we were staying the winter, not 3 days. Next we entered the cabin, understand it is not the Ritz! It was better! Well used loaded with eclectic memorabilia and as comfortable as an old pair of slippers. The record collection is extraordinary, lots of old rock! The beds are comfy, the out side shower sublime (the outside shower is worth the stay alone). Calves bawling, birds singing and dogs running all over. This is a fun place to stay the grass (lots of it) green and fresh smelling. Treat yourself and stay immediately, believe me this will not be a secret forevermore. The owners were great readily available without being intrusive. Thanks for the stay, we will be back!
What a wonderful experience! Madeline was so incredibly accommodating (via email at first and then again in person, when we arrived). This was a completely last minute trip (one night only) for us. There was no minimum night requirement (thank you for that!) and the nightly price is totally commensurate to the quality and expectations of the place. We absolutely loved the rustic barn, the friendly animals, the beautiful property and it's location. It's rustic! It's creaky structures and dusty roads! It's cozy! It's calm and relaxing. Our little cabin had a full kitchen and a beautiful claw foot tub. If you wanted to take a shower, they have a wonderful outdoor shower nearby. Totally private and fun! This is not a hotel. This is a private homestead on a working farm. It is exactly as described and oh so wonderful! We'll be back soon for longer... THANK YOU!
My family and I have stayed at the Bend Country Cabins twice now, once in each cabin, in 2013 and 2015 and we will be back! With all the green grass, trees and flowers surrounding the property you would never know you were in the middle of the desert. My kids and dogs are able to run freely around the property, play in the pond or swing while the adults relaxed or played tennis. The cabins are also a ten minute drive to just about anything you want to see or do in Bend. The cabins are quite rustic, but I think that's what gives them so much charm. Everything you need is in the cabin (fridge, stove, micro, coffee pot, toaster, dishes, etc.). We also like the convenience of their meat freezers and the ability to "shop" on site for our dinner that night. One of my favorite amenities is the outdoor shower. During this past trip the kids got to feed a 5-day-old calf from a bottle! The ONLY non-positive thing I can say about this place is the mosquitoes. Each time I have been there I have been eaten up, but no one else in my party has so it must just be me! If you have sweet blood then cover head to toe after the sun goes down!!
You cannot beat the Bend Country Cabins for a fantastic affordable place to stay in the Bend area. My family and I stayed there for several nights last August. The children loved it and my husband and I were able to relax and chat while they played happily. The history inside the cabin is amazing. It was clean and comfortable too. We had everything we could possibly need. The owners are very accommodating and were happy to answer our questions and show us around. The kids even got to see a new born calf and feeding time for the cows. It is quite close to town yet away from city noise. If we are ever in the Bend area again we would definitely stay again!
We enjoyed our 2 night stay very much! Welcoming owner lives on-site but left us plenty of space. The ranch dog was very friendly and played well with our dog. Our cabin was rustic but clean and we actually enjoyed the lack of shower (there is a tub) and TV. Our cabin featured two wood stoves (one inside, one out) that we used and enjoyed. The owner also sells naturally raised beef and we took some home with us. Overall, we felt this place provided great value and we will be back.
