Well what more can be said? This truly is all it's cracked up to be. The pics are exactly as shown, but what you don't see is the whole Garden of Eden feel to it! It was so lovely, the accommodations, the view, the pool, the wildlife, the smell of the trees, the sights of all the birds, it was the best of our month in Costa Rica. On top of that Joann and Buck couldn't have been nicer. We felt like we came as guests and left as friends. If there is one place to come back to again, this is it! Thanks so much to both of you!!
We Spent a week with Buck and Jo Ann on there property in the beautiful Casa Artistica, We cant say enough about the beauty and tranquility there little piece of heaven has. Where else can you go to sleep at night with the sounds and smells of being right in the jungle and wake up the next morning with more of the same. Everything on the entire property is post card perfect and meticulously taken care of. The Casa Artistica is spotlessly clean and very well taken care of, and has all the amenities you could possibly want. The views from every window in the house is breath taking and there isn't a place on the whole property that doesn't make you say WOW. The salt water pool is a great place to finish off the afternoon with a cold drink in hand and watch the toucans and parrots land in the trees near by.
We cant say enough about the owners Buck and Jo Ann, they were most gracious and always there if we needed anything, or just looking for some information on excursions or things to see or do, they most certainly make you feel welcome, and are both great people. We cant wait to go back again. Would I recommend this piece of heaven to others .??? IN A HEART BEAT
A perfect spot from which to explore the central Costa Rican coast. The owners, Buck and Jo Ann, have created a beautiful, comfortable and conveniently located guest house that they are happy to share. The second floor rooms are spacious and well appointed. Jo Ann has a talent for interior decoration, and it shows. The property is quiet, with fine views, and is just a short drive to Dominical with its beaches, restaurants and well stocked grocery store. We had a great time there and highly recommend staying for as long as you can!
My husband and I stayed at Casa Artistica for 5 weeks in Feb/March. The apt. is large, bright and airey, the gardens are lovely and well tended and the pool is very refreshing. We cooked many meals in our kitchen and ate out on the deck watching the birds. Buck and Joann were perfect hosts and helped us organizing tours and we enjoyed getting to know them. You need a car to reach the home and also to explore around Dominical and Uvita and we certainly did our fair share of that. The internet is available around the pool, but is not consistent. We enjoyed ziplining, rappeling, animal sanctuary, mangrove tour and even took several trips to the market in San Isidro and had wonderful seafood soup in Tinamaste.
My wife and I stayed at Casa Artistica in 2014 and again in 2015. It is impossible for me to describe how beautiful this place is. Some things you just have to see for yourself. Everything was perfect. The hosts, Joann and Buck, are as nice a couple as you could meet. They are very friendly and helpful. We loved staying there !
We have stayed at Casa Artistica several times and are planning on staying again in November. This retreat is in a wonderful location to use as a home base to explore the different sights in Dominical and surrounding areas.
We live in Costa Rica six months of the year and find this is a perfect stopping point after a long flight from the U.S.
Along with the retreat being centrally located is the property itself. The house is private and quiet and the property is breathtaking. JoAnn is an artist and this is very evident in the furnishings in the house and native plants surrounding it. Both the house and the gardens offer the opportunity to relax and enjoy the beauty of the jungle. This house in nestled in the primary jungle and is home to animals galore. We've seen many of the beautiful birds of Costa Rica, including macaws, toucans, and hummingbirds to name a few. We usually laugh with Buck, JoAnn's husband, and ask him if he has the toucans tied to the trees! We've also had the pleasure of seeing several sloths, iguanas, monkeys, deer, agouti, etc. It truly is wonderful to see them in their natural habitat.
The property is very clean and well-maintained. The house is stocked with cookware so you can prepare meals. There is no microwave and the condiments are limited so you would need to purchase some. There is a great little market in Dominical which has a surprising amount of grocery supplies.
Definitely worth checking out.
The beds are very comfortable, nice linens. etc. There are fans which keep the house very comfortable. I love the rock floor in the shower, very artistic!
There are many activities in the area including hiking, zip-lining, ocean fun, etc. which JoAnn can help you with. We usually take a trip to the indigenous Indian reservation and purchase some of their artwork. Truly beautiful crafts.
We don't tend to eat out much but I would recommend the restaurant PorQueNo? Excellent food, decent prices and a fabulous location. Do make a reservation. You might want to have JoAnn cook a meal. She's an amazing cook.
I would recommend this property to anyone who wants a relaxing vacation in a beautiful surrounding. JoAnn and Buck are perfect hosts. They are very helpful and couldn't be nicer. They can help you with suggestions for your trip or offer you complete privacy.
Do make a point of meeting Skye, the resident kitty. He may not be native to Costa Rica but he certainly is worth a few photos!
