We purchased our family dream and possibly retirement home in January of 2011. Although we would like to stay there 24/7, our careers only permit part-time enjoyment. We are certain that if you spend time here you will share our love of The River as well.
Gary purchased this house in 2011
We have been vacationing in the Thousand Islands region for nearly 30 years. Have enjoyed wonderful family memories of togetherness, fishing, boating, hiking, snorkling, and just plain old relaxing.
We love Clayton for its unique restaurants and shops annual boat show and Museum, Alexandria Bay for its shops and restaurants and Pirate's Weekend in August without dealing with major crowds and expense. Wellesley Island across the Thousand Island Bridge is superb for biking, hiking, golfing etc..
We love this location for the sunsets, walks, fishing, swimming safely in 'our' cove, quiet but friendly neighborhood and quiet away from the 'bustle' of Alexandria Bay and Clayton.
Beautiful St. Lawrence river views inside (sunroom or living room) or on the wrap-around-deck where we can enjoy morning coffee, sunsets, views of ocean going vessels and wildlife, safe neighborhood for families and children, small protected marina a 5 minute walk away where we can dock our boat, a small cove with swimming and wonderful Chippewa Bay around the corner for excellent fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding etc..
The cottage is right on the St. Lawrence River on a quiet alcove in Blind Bay. Watching ships from around the world go by, enjoying wild life in the area, kayaking... what could be better? It is close to Alexandria Bay and Ogdensburg (NY) or Brockville (CA) for restaurants or if you need to shop for food or supplies. About an hour and a half to Ottawa for a great day trip.
Gary and Patty hire someone to clean the cottage between visitors, which I so appreciate. Nothing worse than entering a place for vacation and having to spend hours cleaning up from the last occupants, or ending vacation by having to clean.
Thanks again for a great week - location, view, clean, kayaks!
The views are perfect. Great sunsets & love watching the ships pass by. Fishing was great right in front of cottage as well.
This is our fourth year staying at this cottage in Blind Bay; we go for one week. We like the cottage (it is bright, airy, clean - emphasis on clean!), the kitchen has most anything you need. Linens are provided, the owner has kayaks and a canoe available (along with paddles and life vests). There is plenty of outside seating, and lots of ships going by on the St. Lawrence Seaway. Close to Alexandria Bay, Canada, fishing, boating, swimming. Just love it there! We have already booked our vacation week for next year!
Had a great 7 day vacation. House and property were beyond expectations. The weather was less than cooperative which made the fishing tough but being able to relax and take in the view made up for it.
We stayed there for 5 days and every day was better than the next! The house and views were beyond our expectations and the owners have made sure you are fully comfortable with everything you'll need. I have vacationed in the area for years and this was the best yet. We plan on returning for many years to come!
Spent three enjoyable days at this lovely home. It was a perfect location to celebrate a family birthday. The house is perfect with everything you need supplied. We were very fortunate to have beautiful weather so were able to make full use of the deck. Our only complaint was that our time there was too short. We will be back.
