The rock seawall has five large openings where you can walk right into the water. There are two docks for your boats and one swimming platform. With plenty of outdoor space, you can enjoy beach volleyball in our lakeside court, late night campfires in our massive fire circle and picnics down by the lake - there is even a sand box for the kids! They'll love sleeping on the beds located on the porch - our kids did and now our grandkids do! Great for families, fishing and hunting excursions or a peaceful retreat. About The Owner

I am Aubrey Thomas Hornsby, Jr. -- actually Aubrey Hornsby III in a line of five Aubreys! I love Alabama, family and community and my wife and I offer our cabin so that others can enjoy what I had growing up - fun, beauty, family, good food and love staying at my grandfather's house on the lake every summer with my brother and sisters. Those were exciting times and they still are as five generations of Aubreys live on.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 1950

Why The Owner chose Alabama

This property has been in the family for years! Aubrey the first built this glorious cabin for his family and it has been passed down through the generations. Now, Aubrey V is enjoying the fruits of his great great grandfather. He is just three years old!

What makes this cabin unique

We welcome you to Lakewood. Perhaps it’s the lay of the land, the point’s gentle gesture towards water and sky. The place has always felt sacred to me. It’s all about family and the generations: the Old South. I remember when every house was full of kids, cousins, elders. We rocked and played for hours while the fish were caught, the burgers grilled, the ice cream firmed up; till everyone was there. Swimming, conversation, sheer joy of life. That’s how it was…and still is… at Lakewood.

It gives me great satisfaction to read the comments of our guests; to sense that this place has revealed something of itself to another family. That a relationship has been built and that the feeling is mutual.

There’s plenty to do. We encourage you to use our beach volleyball court at the water’s edge, relax in the hot tub, boat the 750 miles of Lake Martin’s shoreline, islands and coves (we have our own boat ramp). Ski, jet ski, windsurf, fish (or just watch the large mouth bass moseying along our 600 feet of antique sea wall), cruise Lake Martin’s new extravagant homes, hike or ride the 80 miles of trails along the lake’s cliffs and woodland vales. Discover the charm and friendly people of our surrounding towns of Eclectic, Dadeville, Alexander City, Wetumpka, and Tallassee. Don’t miss the Chicken Auction or the Red Hill music hall renditions every Friday night and all our local festivals, gatherings, and churches. We now have the best high end restaurants imaginable and the finest funky dining that Alabamians love. You will be staying on Treasure Cove on Alabama’s Treasure Lake (as recently proclaimed by Governor Riley). Our water is always clear and clean. But most of all fall into the grace and magic, the peaceful delight of Lakewood.

Truly authentic Lakehouse with all the conveniences

  • 4 of 5

Our two families including kiddos had a truly amazing experience at the end if may right after school let out!! This is our 4th trip to lake Martin and it's gets better each time. The Lakehouse was a great experience and offered so much enjoyment for us and the kids from the hot tub at night and campfire area, beautiful views from the property from the huge porch, and authentic Lakehouse feel inside. All amenities were offered even the boat ramp and parking for us to put our boat in the water on site. Perfect home for small group of people with kids. The kids named the two visiting ducks flash and sneaky. We also loved the proximity to chimney rock Which is a much shorter ride than from other areas of the lake we have stayed. Thanks again and we shall return !!! The Louisiana/Mississippi crews!

Beautiful and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

We were in town for the Lake Martin 100 mile race in March 2016 and booked this amazing location for 2 nights (we should have done 3!). There were 6 adults and 2 kids. It fit all of us (with room to spare on the porch) and an additional friend who came to pace my husband for his race. The view is beautiful and our almost 3 year old spent hour throwing pine cones into the lake (it's the little things). The wrap around porch was wonderful not just for the view, but for the toddlers to run around and not escape! The kitchen suited us nicely and we even had family visit throughout the day (18 people were in there at one time) and we weren't crunched or too tight (even though I'm glad everyone didn't try to stay the night!!). It was only 10 minutes from Russell Lands, where the race headquarters were and this enabled us to run back to the house to retrieve anything we forgot to grab at 5:45am. The only regret is that we were only able to see the place for a few hours (mostly with our eyes closed) because of the 100 mile race taking place from 6am Saturday into Sunday. This led to the decision to extend our stay next year! Thank you for the wonderful accommodations and a beautiful view!

Great Cabin

Stayed with three couples and had a blast. The cabin is gorgeous, and the lake view is great to wake up to.

Owner's Response: We love the sunrise in the morning beaming on the lake, the sunset at night across the lake and the incredible clouds moving in thunderous roar during a storm. You can see it all from the wrap around porch. Thank you for sharing your review.

October week was most comfortable in this rental for 3 college couples!

  • 4 of 5

3 bedrooms, one with king.one with firm queen mattress and one with softer queen mattress. Kitchen is well equipped for any type of cooking. Wrap around screened porch is the place where you will spend most of your time. Hot tub was warm and ready but we never got around to soaking in it. Plenty of roads to walk on and location is close to Russell Crossing attraction. Fire pit was only used once even though we had a big stack of firewood that was ordered. If weather had been warmer, the swimming area looked most inviting.

The house has central A C and heat.

Owner's Response: So happy that you were comfortable. The fire circle is really nice this time of year as the evenings get crisper and the fall leaves disappear. Please come back and stay with us again. Maybe during the summer this time when you can swim!

Comfy cabin on lake martin

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I together with our daughter and partner stayed for 5 nights

at this Lake house. The cabin sits right on Lake Martin giving amazing

views and sunsets. There is a pontoon . We did a fishing trip and pickup

/ drop off was very convenient. The cabin is comfy and has an enclosed

porch with daybed. The kitchen was fully equipped including keurig coffee

machine.

The owners have a fire pit (no wood provided unless you arrange before

and $40 fee if any wood used from their stash. Also a "green egg" which

uses pure charcoal was available but we couldn't source fuel from local

shops.

There is an awesome hot tub.
