Description

Cara's Cottage

A charming 19th century fisherman's cottage Cara's Cottage has been thoughtfully converted to provide bright and comfortable accommodation with every modern convenience, including a pressured plumbing system (for a proper shower; not a drip!). Suitable for both families, or friends holidaying together, the cottage has views of Kinsale Harbour, its own patio garden and is tucked down a small pedestrian laneway leading to the water's edge and is within walking distance of all Kinsale's attractions. Free WiFi. Freesat TV.

About the property

Scilly House Rentals

We are redeveloping the Chart House from September 2017 to live in ourselves so we are not renting Cara's Cottage or Marian Cottage while the building work is on-going as they are adjacent. Please bear with us as we plan on improving both the other cottages too! Please get in touch if you would like to rent either Cara's or Marian Cottage after September 2018. WWW.HOLIDAYHOUSESINIRELAND.COM

Marian Cottage and Cara's Cottage are in the grounds to Scilly House, a period property overlooking the harbour and dating back to 1760. They can be rented together or individually for thos who want to enjoy the extensive leisure facilities available locally or the many friendly pubs and restaurants that have led to Kinsale being called the Goumet Capital of Ireland. All 3 properties are a 7 minutes' walk from Kinsale town centre where you will find many interesting shops, art galleries and museums. The properties have off-street parking and free WiFi. A mobile phone is also available free of charge if required..

Cara's Cottage sleeps 4. 2 bedrooms. 1.5 baths. Master en-suite. Glimpses of the harbour from living room. Patio garden.

Marian Cottage. Sleeps 2+1 on sofa bed. Studio layout. Large bathroom with claw foot bath and separate power shower. Patio garden suntrap.

Kinsale:: Winner of European prize for Tourism and the Environment, Entente Florale, National Tidy Town, Gourmet Capital - one of Ireland's oldest towns, with narrow streets and many historic buildings to explore; all sheltered by a beautiful harbour.

Museums, historic forts, art galleries, craft shops, not to mention the 40+ bars and restaurants that give Kinsale its reputation for good food and that Irish only phenomenon called 'craic'. Oh, and the Guinness is good too!

For the active: Choose from 3 golf courses including the spectacular and world renowned Links at The Old Head of Kinsale, deep-sea fishing, sailing or perhaps a harbour cruise. Maybe spend a day at one of the many 'empty' beaches nearby or perhaps visit the Norman built 12th century church of St Multose and 15th century Desmond Castle which houses the International Musem of Wine, or the twin 17th century forts guarding the entrance to the harbour to learn about our town that is one of the oldest in Ireland.

Whatever is for you, you will find it here in Kinsale.

Getting here: Is easy with direct flights to Cork from most UK and many European airports. Coming from America? Cork is only a 3 hours car journey from Dublin and 2 hours from Shannon Airport.

If you're arriving by car Cork Ferryport, serving Roscoff in France, is only 14 miles away.

And finally, as our properties are in the grounds of Scilly House we are on hand if you need us. Just ask!

  • 5 of 5

We rented Sams Studio for 4 nights in feb 09 ans were generally impressed with the quality of the accommodation, the situation and the garden-especially for the children!Plenty of the essentials were supplied and more-eg toilet paper, dishwasher tabs,tea/coffee/cooking ingredients etc.We would recommend it to friends and family and hope to use it again in the future.

Still pining for Cara's cottage

  • 5 of 5

Travelled with our 18 and 21 year old daughters. The cottage is warm well equipped and comfortable, a hop and a skip from the centre of Kinsale and opposite a very atmospheric pub. We absolutely loved the area, and were bereft when we left. The hosts are really nice and while next door they keep a low profile while being around if you need them. Go !!

Everything we wanted

  • 5 of 5

Our holiday in Kinsale was perfect. These accommodations were ideally located and perfect for 3 families traveling together but still able to maintain privacy. The cottages were quiet, clean, well-furnished, beautiful, and comfortable. The view of the harbor was overwhelming. I would not stay anywhere else in Kinsale. Mark was a perfect host.

Ideal location and facilities - charming!

  • 5 of 5

Directions led us easily to the cottage where Diane met us and showed us round. It was exactly as photographed and described, well maintained, equipped -a great start to a lovely week. Kinsale is delightful, full of interesting things to see and do and the restaurants are plentiful and of a good standard, we could have spent another couple of weeks trying them all out ! The weather was perfect that particular week which added to the pleasure in Kinsale and the touring that we did. Mark and Diane are the ideal hosts, on hand but not intrusive. We will certainly recommend Cara's Cottage to friends and family.

Fantastic cottage, bright and cheery

  • 5 of 5

Cottage was even better than the pictures! Beds so comfortable! Close to Kinsale so we could walk everywhere. Host left a lot of information about area things to do. Wish we could have stayed longer than two nights. A favorite stop on our two week trip.

Kinsale is a great destination "base camp" for visiting Cork and Kerry. For a special treat, take the Kinsale Food Tour. Tell Suzanne that Sunshine and Dayre say hi
