Love Lodge on the Lake! Will be back yearly

  • 5 of 5

Wanted to thank you for the incredible time my wife and I had at the Lodge on the Lake. This is the most wonderful place for us to relax and unwind. I know the Lodge is for multiple people but love the ability to go with just my wife and enjoy it. We went there 5 years ago and spent the week with family visiting for the final weekend. That was our 20th anniversary. The family is still talking about how wonderful it was! We had a version of the show "Chopped" which we called "Hocked" where we had a contest to make S'mores with the basket of ingredients we selected ahead of time. I found out my sister in Law has the same passion for Ping pong. We now have a play off every time we can! We had a pumpkin carving contest! Clear nights means amazing stars since so little light pollution. Having kayaks and the canoe we brought meant spending a lot of time on the water. Fishing was a great extra as well. Years ago, when my father was alive, we spent a lot of time "plugging" for Bass in Canada and other areas. This lake is perfect for the same type of fishing. I feel like my dad is with me when I fish this way since he taught me and we both enjoyed spending time fishing together. I got to perpetuate this type of fishing with family here in the past. That is a special feeling and furthers my father's legacy.

We have been to numerous cabins for years in Hocking Hills and have been to most of the parks and sites in the region. Though we like the attractions, we are content to just stay and relax at the Lodge with all that it has.

This year, My wife surprised me a week ahead of our 25th anniversary with 3 nights at your wonderful Lodge on the Lake. I spent the week getting prepared with lists of everything we needed. If you talk to my wife, she will tell you how I become the Chevy Chase of vacation! When I talked to you and you were able to extend our stay another day, you not only made my day, you made my year. Again fishing was a big part of me spending time with my father who has been gone for 30 years. I used lures my Dad had used and caught fish on them! The Kayaks were wonderful and I have now mastered fishing in a Kayak. We had a number of deer watch us as we fished in the evening. We are already talking about a yearly visit to the Lodge at the same time of year. I highly recommend this Lodge and know people who want this type of seclusion, relaxation, and the tranquility on the lake.

Family Adventure

  • 4 of 5

My family enjoys our stay at the Lodge on the Lake and we plan on returning again. There were two problems that we had and since they are both hazards I want to report them. First, the lodge looked good when we arrived and unpacked our vehicles. When I turned on the front stove burner to start cooking the burner caught on fire from the food left in the burner tray. Thankfully buy the time we found the fire extringer the fire burned out. We then cleaned the other trays. The second and a little more concerning is on the left side of the house, by the HVAC unit are 2 yellow jacket nexts. One slightly smaller than the other. My daughter in law has a bee alergy and was prevented from enjoying the deck where the swing and chairs are because of the yellow jackets flying around. Other than these two problems the place is ideal for my family. Thanks Melinda Nutter

Property was beautiful, amenities , not so much

  • 2 of 5

Some outdoor furniture was broken, not able to use. Hot tub lid was damaged, letting water in, sand was inside and dirty. Unable to use. We had to clean gazebo due to grass clippings on everything. Trash can at bottom of steps was full when we arrived, We were told, before arriving, not to leave open trash anywhere outside because it attracts varmints.Pressure treated wood and plywood left by fire pit, should not be burning that! Inside sink was swarming with flies, garbage disposal needed cleaned, garbage can was filthy ,flies all over it. We took it outside to bleach it and killed flies the rest of the weekend. Blanket on the couch had human hair all over it , it should have been washed. One of the bedrooms had large cobwebs hanging from the lamps, they should have been cleaned away before we arrived. Bed linens left in dryer. We had to remove them to be able to dry our clothes. Very large, sharp knives were mixed in with all other utensils. I almost sliced my finger pulling out a spatula. I think if more detail were paid to this beautiful piece of property, the stay would be perfect. We came in hoping to relax right away and ended up cleaning half the place without being able to enjoy the hot tub the whole 4 day stay. A little disappointed.

  • 4 of 5

Everything was okay however the hot tub was very dirty and the grass had little white flowers on it so there was so many bees would have liked it to be freshly cut to eliminate the children from stepping on bees once it was cut couple of days after we were there everything was fine we clean the hot tub as much as we could

Shhhhh

  • 5 of 5

I hesitate to write a review for this property because I want to go back next year and don't want it to be booked! It is very remote and tricky to find so may not be for everyone but.....if you are looking for peace and quiet, relaxation and privacy....this is the place for you! It is the way I like to "camp"! We were 6 adults, 2 pre-schoolers and 1 infant. There are plenty of beds, towels, kitchen supplies etc. There are not private rooms for everyone which made the sleeping arrangements a bit tricky with little ones and adults but.....the porches, beach, play area, private lake with clean water for swimming and plenty of fish made that issue irrelevant. We had a great time! (It looks EXACTLY like this photo!)

(I don't know why it says "city" below because it is NO WHERE NEAR a city.....fyi)
