Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 was looking for a last minute spring break trip where we would have nice beach weather. Since we were driving from Maryland, we determined that the northern Florida beaches looked like the closest best bet. We are very familiar with South Florida, but had never been to the northern part. With all beachfront hotels booked, we decided to try VRBO for the first time and we couldn't have been more satisfied with this condo and the owner Dorothea. The condo was very comfortable and was in such great condition, it was very well equipped and had everything that we needed. It was also convenient to everything that we wanted to do. The complex itself, while a bit older, seems to be very well maintained, and the pool and tennis courts were actually nicer in person than they appeared in pictures. In addition, Dorothea was a pleasure to deal with. We have a lot of experience renting places from management companies in Ocean City, MD and North Carolina. I don't know whether our experience with Dorothea was typical for a VRBO property or not, but the personal service she gave us was well above and beyond what we are used to when dealing with a large management company. If we find ourselves looking at heading that way again, we would certainly see if this place was available. For anyone that may be concerned about only having a double bed in the second bedroom, we have a boy and a girl (10 and 13) so didn't think they could share the double bed in the second bedroom. We didn't think our 10 year old would want to sleep on the pullout sofa downstairs by himself in a strange place, so we brought a queen size air mattress and it fit perfectly in the room with the double bed.

Massachusetts Relief

  • 5 of 5

This is the first time we tried northern Florida and enjoyed it very much even though it was in early February 2015. No snow like we had up North in Mass. Location and unit were fine, spacious, and Dorathea a jewel. High points were the Palace Saloon, dinner at an Italian restaurant about 4 miles south of the condo, the Historic Plantation just 5 miles south off of the island itself, St Augustine, and of course the Amelia Island downtown historic area. Managed one round of golf at the Amelia Island Golf Course - very friendly people running the place. Over all a great 2 week vacation.

Great Time

  • 5 of 5

WOW! What a great time we had in mid to the end of February of this year and even the weather cooperated. Condo was everthing advertised and then some, it was clean, well stocked, nicely decorated and convenient to everything. Dorothea met us and took us to condo, explained everything, told us of best restaurants and followed up with us. Fernandina Beach has great restaurants, shopping, antiques and dock area and we were close to the beach. We took the cruise out by Cumberland Island (great fun), toured the Fort on Fernandina Beach (interesting) took side trips to beaches in Georgia and visited St. Augustine while down there. Besides the many restaurants Dorothea will tell you about we enjoyed a nice lunch in the courtyard at The Happy Tomato, lunch at Brett's on the pier and a great dinner at a little Italin place on 3rd Avenue. We had never been to area before and found lots to do and would recomment it to anyone. While we were there Fernandina Beach had much going on, Chili cookoff, Meet with Authors and a Saturday market. We even had a great experience at the church where everyone was friendly and the violin music was inspiring. Used the local library to print my boarding pass and they were most helpful. GREAT LITTLE TOWN! Relaxing vacation and extremely easy to get around town.
