'Pelican's Nest' is one of the best ocean front views on the Central Oregon Coast. The second floor, unobstructed, bird's eye view takes in magnificent Cape Perpetua and The Yachats Bay and River to the south with stunning white water scenes of the rocky shoreline to the west from the entire living/dining area, or take advantage of the newly added, private, south facing deck . Storms do not sneak up on the guests at the 'Nest.' They are eagerly awaited as you track them across the Pacific from the comfort of the sofa. And they arrive with a force that makes winter one of our most popular seasons. Nothing tops the thrill of a cozy fire, a satisfying beverage, and the company of your special someone as the weather blows near.
If the entire clan joins you, Pelican's View (vrbo493290) is a 2 bedroom apartment with a private deck facing the ocean. All units are private, but share a common deck area.
The village of Yachats is a quaint and picturesque small town located near many popular attractions. Fishing, crabbing, hiking, golf and, of course, site seeing are all easily available. Bicycles are kept on site for perusing the village. Eateries are within walking distance, and shopping, including groceries are just minutes from your door. Terrific agate hunting on the beach right in front of the Nest. The 804 Trail wanders from north of town, along the ocean, and takes to the neighborhoods as it passes in front of the Nest, heading south along the bay and water's edge.
The Nest has a fully equipped kitchen, king in the bedroom, and pull out Queen ComfortSleeper in the living room. Laundry is coin operated and is on site.

We have been visiting Yachats since the 1980's and simply fell in love with the village. No fast food, no big box stores, no schools, and mostly retired, laid back folks. Great Community Center, Library, and eating establishments. When the opportunity for purchasing property came up, we jumped at the chance. Many years and remodels later, we are still in love with Yachats. Truely, The Gem of the Oregon Coast!
Great views of the ocean, and a private deck on the south to enjoy.
The "nest" was perfect. You and Gloria have paid so much attention to providing for every little detail for every possible need. It was decorated just like a beach cabin should be and the view was totally awesome. We couldn't believe there were binoculars, games, movies, and books. Anything we needed we found there. Even pillows and blankets to snuggle up in. The bed was comfy and a big dresser for our stuff. Plenty of sparkling clean linens and lots of hangars. And the deck was even perfect. Out of the wind and a wonderful view. It is the little things that makes a place truly memorable.
I was thankful for the awesome surrounding as I had a touch of the flu and ended up spending one full day never going outside. Good thing I loved it. And, thank goodness for the view. :-)
I am sure we will be repeat visitors.
We stayed in the Pelican's Nest for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon and loved every minute of it. The town of Yachats was perfect, exactly what we were looking for-small, quiet, beautiful scenery, lots of hiking, and a few good restaurants in town.
The unit was such a great location, within walking distance from trails and downtown shops, plus amazing views from the living room! There was a storm that came in on our last day and it was great seeing the power of the storm right outside our window.
All the amenties of the unit were perfect and we felt just like we were coming home at the end of the day. Downstairs in the garage there are many dvds, games, puzzles and books available, plus a couple of beach cruisers. We didn't notice this stuff until we were getting ready to leave the last day though. Kitchen was well stocked, basically everything we needed.
Our only small complaint was the communication with the property managemanagement company wasn't the best. In every step of the initial reservation process, payment collection, and obtaining unit information before the stay; the emails state that they will be the ones to contact you. Instead we were always the one to make the call or send the email. This isn't a huge deal, but it was a little frustrating at the time because I was always expecting to hear from them, but had to initiate the contact each time.
Other than that, we had a great time and will definitely be back again!
I loved staying at the Pelican's Nest! It has everything you need for a very enjoyable stay on the coast, along with a beautiful view and the relaxing sound of waves crashing against the rocks. I hope to make it back again next year! Highly recommended,
We had a very enjoyable stay at this place. It was comfortable and just perfect for the two of us to have a quiet place to relax and be enthralled by the ocean view. We read, knitted and even cooked a bit. The property management company was very responsive and helpful, too. We just had a couple of minor issues that they solved for us right away.
We really enjoyed our stay at Pelicans nest. It was just the right blend of beauty and relaxation.
The Ping Pong table was a bonus.
When the owners say the Pelican's Nest has the best ocean views they really are not exaggerating. Super comfortable king size bed, nice large bathroom, electric fireplace warms the front of the house very well. My husband and I took our sewing machines and made quilt tops and read. The place has a very warm feeling about it. The only thing I would say it needs is couple of small pots for soup and the like.
We stayed here in July, 2014. It was a very enjoyable experience. The pictures did not do justice to the views that we enjoyed. The apartment was very clean, very appropriate to our needs (an excellent view of ocean, comfortable place to sleep). Everything was suitable for a stay at the coast but not upscale nor fancy. The Luna Restaurant had excellent seafood with outdoor seating (good if you have your dog with you). This is the place if you want comfort, outstanding views and simple lodgings.
