Our Great Grandfather owned the oldest house in town and 5 generations have been enjoying family vacations in Gearhart. This home has been in our family for over 30 years and is still our favorite place for family vacations.
Owner purchased this house in 1987
Ideal location across from park and beach and 2 blocks to the center of town and our favorite bakery/cafe.
Aside from being among the best houses in Gearhart, we are walking distance to town, park, beach, tennis and golf.
We selected the Gearhart Beach House so we could be an easy drive for our adult children (Astoria) to come spend a few nights over the Christmas holiday. The house easily absorbed all of us - some reading by the fire, others playing cards and yet another group just relaxing by the upper fire place / bar area.
The weather varied from cold yet sunshine-y to wind with hail and sleet - we were cozy and warm. In fact, our best time was gathered around the fireplace just being together with nowhere to go.
The main dining room seats 10 - easily. We make a big deal of our evening meals so this was important for us. There are placemats, service (although mismatched) for 10+. The overall feel of the Beach House reminded me of an old Jersey Shore (East Coast) beach house. Kitchen appliances are dated but work just fine.
Everyone in our group gave this a thumbs up!
Absolute splendid house for a beach holiday! The beach was a short walk across a sand dune where we often saw elk grazing along the pathway and humpback whales just beyond the breakers. The house was charming and had everything we needed. The kids loved eating on a different table almost every night. The house was easy walking distance to the Gearhart grocery as well as shops and restaurants. We're already looking forward to our next visit!
We had a perfect vacation staying in this Gearhart home. We love the town and we will definitely rent this home again.
The home is very large with a lot of space. We have a large family and also entertained many visitors from Portland. We were never cramped. The house is well-equipped. Kitchen flows well. There was plenty of firewood, beach toys and patio furniture. The BBQ is new and works great. The couple of rollaway beds came in handy, too.
The location is perfect. The kids crossed the street towards Southeast and went to the basketball courts. Or, crossed the street to the southwest and walk to the beach.
We hope to return summer. Thanks
My girlfriends and I were looking for a quiet get-away for a week of bridge and relaxation – and we found it in Gearhart.
This home was perfect. It easily accommodated four of us each with our own room and bathroom, a bridge table, two fireplaces, wet bar, dining room and lots of room to spread out and lounge. We especially enjoyed cocktails on the ocean view patio. The house was immaculate and very well appointed. It is ideally located across from the beach, park and tennis courts. Town and the famous Pacific Way Cafe and Bakery are just 2 blocks away.
Our days were filled with long beach walks collecting sand dollars and watching folks digging for clams. Afternoons we spent biking around the neighborhoods and on bike paths through Fort Stevens State Park.
In between our exercise excursions we played bridge. We would walk into town (5 min) for our morning lattes and pastries at Pacific Way and then back again for dinner. There is another fun restaurant in the nearby hotel, Mc Menamin's Sand Trap Bar and Grill right on the golf course, also within walking distance. One night we picked up some fresh seafood in Seaside (a 10 min. ride) at Bell Buoy’s Best for a dinner at home. The Dungeness crab was so fresh and delicious..
Another day we drove to Cannon Beach (10 miles South) for lunch at the Cannon beach Hotel and Restaurant and a little shopping. But we were anxious to come back to our lovely jewel in Gearhart for a beautiful sunset and more bridge.
It was a week to remember.
My husband and I could not have found a more perfect spot for several days of relaxation and reuniting with a favorite couple from the East Coast. This enchanting, well-appointed home offered us two large fireplaces for our morning coffees in the living room, and our evening chats with after dinner drinks in the study. The location is just a short stroll to the beach where we enjoyed leisurely walks collecting sand dollars, watching those who were digging for clams, and many memorable sunsets. The kitchen is fully equipped for any gourmet cook, and we had several dinners at home; however, on a few evenings we chose to walk the two blocks for dinner at a lovely French Café(there was an adjoining bakery for our morning croissant and pastries). Thank you to the owners for providing such an idyllic location.
This was the perfect home for a family vacation! There's a park right next door and the beach just beyond. The kids had so much fun! I don't think they played a single video game all week!! We walked and biked everywhere. The house and location couldn't have been more charming. Thank you for such a lovely place to stay.
